Three Towers Game

Chapter 1442: Chapter 462: Defeating the Cosmetic Surgery Family_2

The father dragged him to the living room in front of his brother and visiting relatives, forcing him to kneel, and searched through his collar and pockets.

”Your face is already disgraceful enough, is your heart just as dirty?”

This sentence was like a knife, repeatedly piercing through Che Yongyi’s soul.

Eventually, the doll was found in the sofa crevice, but no one apologized to him.

His mother just pulled him back to the utility room with red-rimmed eyes and whispered, ”Can’t you... cause less trouble?”

It turns out being ugly means being bad, and even if you haven’t done anything wrong, it doesn’t matter.

As long as you’re ugly, you’re supposed to bear all kinds of malice.

That day, Che Yongyi cried for a long time in the utility room. In the dim room, his fingernails dug deeply into his own flesh.

He really wanted to tear off this face.

”If I had a pretty face... they would surely love me, right?”

In the family, Che Yongyi received no love, and it was the same outside the family.

When the teacher arranged seating, they would ”naturally” let him sit alone in the corner of the last row, with the excuse of not disturbing other students.

During group photos, he was placed at the edge of the lineup, and when the photos were developed, his part was often deliberately cut off or shaded black.

During breaks, the boys invented a game called ”avoiding the spider.”

The rule was that anyone who touched his body, even the corner of his clothes, would be seen as ”contaminated.”

This led to him being isolated like a plague. But he accepted this game and never protested with anyone.

Because only this way did he feel like he was a part of them.

He felt he had a sense of existence. Everyone invented this game because of me...

I’m not a monster, I’m also playing games with them.

If there was someone uglier, the uglier person would be the new spider.

Then he could join them.

He thought this way, but in reality, the malice towards that face went far beyond this.

During physical education, when changing clothes, someone would always steal his clothes, leaving him wrapped in a towel in the corner of the locker room until everyone left.

The malice kept accumulating, but Che Yongyi also got used to the malice.

He only deepened an impression, if I become good-looking, everyone will love me.

If I become ugly, I am evil.

This is how the world operates, nobody is wrong, and neither am I.

What truly hurt Che Yongyi was an act of kindness.

At fourteen, the school organized the viewing of a movie about ”courage and inner beauty.”

After watching, the teacher asked students to share their impressions.

A boy who usually liked to mock Che Yongyi proactively raised his hand and pointed at him, ”Teacher, I think he has a lot of ’inner beauty.’ Although he looks... uh, we shouldn’t discriminate against him, we should help him more!”

The whole class burst into laughter and applause in agreement. The teacher nodded approvingly.

Che Yongyi sat in the corner, his whole body ice-cold.

No matter how many times he told himself that ugliness deserves malice, no matter how many times he forced himself to accept all of this...

But faced with the rising laughter and applause at this moment, tears of humiliation kept falling.

He realized that he had even become a tool for others to display ”moral superiority.”

His pain was an ornament for others to embellish their kindness.

Beauty is a privilege, while ugliness, even pain, is cheap and for consumption.

Ugly people... don’t even deserve kindness.

Because this kindness is twisted, carrying superiority.

Such life lasted for a full sixteen years.

In the years that shape character, childhood, adolescence...

Che Yongyi felt the immense power of ”appearance.”

His life, however, encountered a turning point after sixteen.

He underwent cosmetic surgery.

Not due to a family change of heart, but because of an accident. His father’s company needed to establish a ”care for the disabled” social image.

Thus, choosing Che Yongyi as the ”charitable treatment case,” with expenses borne by the company foundation and a cosmetic surgery hospital.

The entire process was packaged as a deeply moving ”corporate social responsibility showcase.”

No matter the initial intention, Che Yongyi entered the cosmetic institution, and that ugly face was finally going to leave him.

The surgery was extremely painful and long, conducted in several stages. Laser burning, skin grafting, bone adjustment... every post-op came with severe pain, swelling, and fasting.

But what supported him was the ”post-surgery effect simulation image” of that ordinary, clean, unremarkable face on the hospital brochure.

To him, that ordinary face was simply an angelic visage.

When the final bandage was removed, and he saw the unfamiliar, slightly stiff, but absolutely ”normal” face in the mirror --

Che Yongyi didn’t feel ecstatic, only a profound, near-exhausted tranquility. He can finally look like ”a person.”

”Dad, mom, now... will you love me?”

Life finally began to change.

The change in appearance made Che Yongyi experience many new things --

For the first time entering a convenience store, the clerk smiled and said ”Welcome.” He froze in place, nearly tearing up.

Because before, when clerks saw him, they would immediately look away or frown.

Boarding the bus, he had ”seat rights.” Before, when he sat down, people next to him would immediately stand up or move to the farthest spot.

Now, he could comfortably sit anywhere, even occasionally having students squeeze up beside him.

Did life get better?

No, because it was merely just this.

Returning to school, Che Yongyi was surrounded by a crowd, and everyone shouted:
