The Versatile Master Artist

On the other hand.

Gu Weijing has a strangely conflicted attitude toward these various heart cultivation methods in the art circle.

Although artists may be the profession with the most mystical crazies in today’s mainstream society.

Many NBA stars like Owen, the anti-vaccine prophet and flat-earth preacher, could be found in the art categories.

However, as someone well-educated and a believer in modern science,

He doesn’t quite believe these chaotic meditation methods are truly effective.

And yet, deep down in some corner of his heart.

Gu Weijing is vaguely worried, what if... these things really work, and he somehow masters them?

Indeed.

Gu Weijing is inexplicably worried that these methods for training the heart might completely smooth out his personality.

Almost all meditation, perhaps including those odd Joyful Zen practices locked in a dark room,

aims at reaching higher states of peace and calm, becoming a serene person.

He’s just a beginner who half-understands.

Gu Weijing doesn’t understand Yoga.

Perhaps Mona doesn’t either.

He’s always concerned that Mona’s questionable Yoga Heart Method might aim at expelling all negative emotions like frustration, jealousy, resentment, anger, agitation... through stretching and controlled breathing.

The body like a sponge, gradually squeezing out all ”toxic” emotions, finally recognizing its place in the world.

Everything born to nature, naturally ordered.

Servant is servant, master is master.

No envy towards those in higher positions, no oppression of those in lower positions, ultimately becoming a peaceful and compassionate person.

These seem to be Gu Weijing’s partially comprehended misinterpretations. He feels that, in a sense, Mona’s pursuit of Yoga cultivation is somewhat passive.

If Mona’s so-called family Yoga cultivation method is as clearly tiered as the inner strength Chapters in the martial arts novels Elder Gu Tongxiang loves,

Gu Weijing, with his heart full of eagerness to become a great painter and change his destiny, is undoubtedly born without talent for such cultivation.

He is overly restless.

Even Mona, who seizes every opportunity to become a leisurely wealthy fairy-like socialite, has not truly entered the practice.

He doesn’t know.

Maybe—

Sometime.

To be like Mahatma Gandhi, pierced through the chest by a bullet, yet calmly clasping his hands and chanting the Bhagavad Gita, slowly dying while stopping his breath, perhaps that could be considered true Divine Skill Mastery in heart cultivation.

He certainly doesn’t have the right to randomly comment on such a world-renowned and outstanding politician like Gandhi, as they are far removed from his reality.

Being able to treat one’s life with complete emotional detachment likely also signifies a high level of inner peace.

For better or worse.

He cannot comprehend those distant, profound, grand Zen Methods.

Cannot dare, nor has the right to make random comments.

But Gu Weijing doesn’t know if extreme serenity means losing the ability to feel anger.

He is extraordinarily ignorant of this.

He fears becoming such a self.

What if, like Mona said, he squeezes out all ”negative emotions” as if draining water from a sponge?

He always harbors a vague worry, fear, anxiety that he might lose the ability to experience anger.

Would he still cry for anything then?
