The Ultimate Evolution

“Is the Divine Servant really a contestant? Isn’t his HP a little too high for a contestant? We almost failed to kill him even with all our forces combined, yet he doesn’t look like an MT at all. But if he’s not a contestant, why was there a 40% damage reduction when I attacked him?” Sanzi could not help voicing his doubt.

“The heavy injury on his chest made by Rocky’s lance, Gungnir, had obviously not healed yet. When we attacked his chest, every attack resulted in an explosive hit. That spot was obviously a weak spot,” Zi said thoughtfully.

“Remember what Rocky said? A Realm is like a complete army; although it mostly consists of ordinary soldiers, there are also cooks, logistics, special forces, intelligence teams, tactical staff and so on. This Divine Servant seems to be an experimental subject who possesses both the high HP of a storyline character and the inter-contestant damage reduction protection. At the same time, there’s a great chance that he can’t be healed by the Realm’s medicine. On the other hand, the guy named Bind felt more like special personnel who enter Nightmare Worlds by using some unorthodox rules. If they were just here as bystanders and not cause any trouble, the Realm won’t pay them much attention, but if they make too much noise, they’ll surely face some problems,” Sheyan gave his opinion.

At this point, Reef sighed dejectedly.

“We took great risks by asking Melody not to intervene, but we still didn’t get any loot. Even the Black Crystal Skull was taken away.” (Those attacked by Melody will not drop loot.)

Sheyan smirked. “Things that will give Bind unforgettable pain, I’d willingly do them a hundred times over, even if I get no benefit from them at all! That guy will probably be here soon. After we help Melody get rid of that monster, we’ll leave right away. We’ve just experienced a hard fight and none of us are in our optimum condition, so there’s no need to confront him now. We’ll give him some time to savour the pain.”

Sheyan stepped on the brake and drifted beautifully, bumping into the escaping Jakaya, making him stagger. He had a body of a terminal cancer patient, and he had been taking attacks from Melody for quite a while now. Now that they were ganking him with no principles to speak of, he died almost immediately.

Sheyan chopped off his head. Jakaya’s body and flesh instantly turned to ashes, leaving behind only the head in Sheyan’s hand which rapidly transformed into the ‘Crystal Skull’ again.

Since they had achieved all their objectives and had even managed to get a rough estimate of Bind’s strength from the fight with the Divine Servant, they had no intention of staying here any longer. Sheyan was not someone who liked to take risks; he certainly did not wish to fight with that Bind guy in their current conditions.

Sheyan stepped on the accelerator, intending to leave. But at this time, Sanzi said with a little hesitation as he stared at the trees rushing past outside the car window, “Brother, do you think….since the Divine Servant is different from us contestants…maybe the way he drops loot is different from ordinary contestants too?

“Maybe, but do you really expect a servant to drop anything good?” Sheyan dismissed nonchalantly.

“That’s not necessarily true. Where did Zhao Yun’s Qinggang Sword come from?” Zi immediately retorted. In truth, she was just dissatisfied that Melody got to sit on the front passenger seat next to Sheyan.

(TL: Zhao Yun is a legendary figure in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In the Battle of Changban, he defeated the enemy general Xiahou En and took the prized Qinggang Sword belonging to the enemy leader, Cao Cao, from him.)

Sanzi immediately nodded in agreement. “That’s right! But the main thing is, I think I heard something drop to the ground when we were leaving just now.”

When Reef heard that, he also said, “I think I heard it too. The thing that fell sounded like something metallic.”

That made Sheyan hesitate for a moment. “Then…should we go back and have a look? But we might run into Bind….”

Zi rolled her eyes at Sheyan and announced decisively, “We’ll go back. If worse comes to worst, we’ll have Melody join the fight! So what if we don’t get any loot from him? It’s no big deal.”

What else could Sheyan do? His brothers and his woman had all made their positions clear. He could only make a 180, causing horns to blare all around them because the cars behind them were extremely dissatisfied with his sudden U-turn. Sheyan ignored them and accelerated back to the place where the previous fight had taken place.

Because they had yet to go far, they returned in only about 20 seconds. When they were still nearly five hundred meters away, they could already see the whole place being illuminated by some sort of fire, so bright it almost lit up the entire night sky. Upon closer inspection, they saw a “dot” that had appeared in the air near the place where they fought the Divine Servant. The dot was burning the space down like a lit cigarette butt that was pressed to a piece of paper. They could also vaguely see something that looked like boiling magma in it.

Zi was astonished. “Someone’s trying to create a wormhole to teleport here directly! Isn’t he afraid of making the dimension collapse? Seaman, it seems like we’ve done much more damage to that Bind than we initially thought!”

A dark weapon suddenly appeared at the place where the Divine Servant had died. When the weapon fell to the ground, the reddish-black light surrounding it actually solidified into waving strips that looked like ribbons in water. And the ground around it rippled like a disturbed water surface! It was as if everything around it had turned incorporeal!

Zi’s eyes gleamed. A bright horizontal line of light shot out of her slender finger. Next, the dark weapon drifted towards their car as if it was being pulled by something.

Sheyan had to admit that Zi’s Force was an outstanding power. It could play a very special role in many situations. For example, Sheyan could now drive away without slowing down and and also get his hands on the weapon. They had saved at least five seconds of crucial time.

But the ribbon-like light around the weapon suddenly amplified intensely. Zi held her chest with a grunt and spat out a mouthful of blood. Sheyan was right in front of her, so the warm blood splashed onto Sheyan’s neck. The mysterious weapon fell to the ground with a clatter.

At this time, a devilish finger dipped in magma stretched out of the “wormhole” in the distance. The surrounding air deformed and distorted, spraying blue flames from time to time from friction. The passers-by were already running away in panic at such a spectacle.

Sheyan did not hesitate at all to jump out of the car. Honestly, he was shocked. A weapon that had obviously turned into loot could still cause such severe damage to Zi! What the hell was happening? He had never even heard of such a thing before, let alone seen it.

Therefore, when Sheyan held onto the weapon, his heart was actually beating really fast – from nervousness, and from excitement. He felt like a boy who was holding onto a girl’s hand for the first time.

Alas…

Just as he would get a slap in the face or a stomp on his foot when he grabbed Zi’s hand out of the blue….

Sheyan was also handed a direct and simple punishment. Smoke started rising from his palm that was holding onto the weapon; smoke that carried a burning odour. The skin on his palm was scorched by the high temperature of the weapon. But of course, Sheyan could bear the pain. He did not mind the pain at all. He was already thinking about the trouble and agony that he will cause Bind by taking this weapon away.

He could be pretty evil too.

“We should go to a police station. Our movement might’ve been captured by surveillance monitors, so we first need to destroy all the images they have of us,” Sheyan said calmly, as if the burnt hand was not his. Melody quickly chanted something, and a green, mist-like layer of healing light attached itself to Sheyan’s palm. But as soon as it did, a black flame soared from the palm, almost wrapping Sheyan’s entire arm in it.

Melody exclaimed in surprise, “I didn’t mean it! I didn’t mean it!”

Sheyan yelled, cutting her off, “Reef, take the wheel! Don’t fall for the illusion produced by the sword. Yes, it can hurt its wielder, but it’s far less threatening to me than what it looks like.”

Reef immediately took over and stepped hard on the accelerator. The engine roared, and they quickly left the scene behind them. By now, the wormhole in the distance had gotten even bigger, and the finger of the devil had turned into an ugly, twisted palm! An ear-piercing noise suddenly resounded through the air. Some of the passers-by were shaken by the noise, falling down to the ground with blood seeping out of their ears!

Only now did Sheyan have the time to examine the weapon. The weapon was undoubtedly a sword, a sword with clear, simple lines, yet it had a certain weight to it. Its surface was glowing with a blackish-red light. Any ordinary person who laid eyes upon the light would feel a pressure on their chest, as if something heavy was weighing down on them. Even their breathing would turn difficult.

But what was really hurting Sheyan was another layer of light covering the sword, a soul-stirring red glow that almost felt corporeal. The red glow felt somewhat familiar to Sheyan; it felt like the glow on a blood weapon, but much more condensed. The glow was so intense that Sheyan’s hand which held the sword became crimson and transparent, making the bones and blood vessels inside visible.

Suddenly, a dark green light flashed on Sheyan’s other hand; it was the ‘Planetary-Grade High-Energy Mechanical Power Glove’! But what was even stranger was that the transparent layer on the glove had peeled itself away.

The transparent layer was, naturally, the immature liquid metal life-form. A distorted face suddenly condensed on its surface. The face screamed at Sheyan, “Master, please let me eat this mutated high-ranking Lieutenant General Blood Weapon! After I eat it, I’ll enter the adult stage!”
