The Ultimate Evolution

Most elves do not dabble in fire spells as fire is the natural enemy of the forest, but as the queen and spiritual leader of the Sunstriders who carry the glory of Sin’dorei, controlling fire was a matter of course for Melody.

She also found that, although fire was the opposite of many nature spells, they would somehow produce an astonishing effect when they were combined.

For example, after infusing a divine art of Sin’dorei into her previous ‘Twilight Dictum’, it turned into the ‘Sunstrider Flaming Lance’. If we assume each of the former abilities to have a power value of 4, then their power combined was not simple addition, but rather multiplication, equal to four times the former power!

The T-1000 was absolutely not foolish enough to charge into any attack head-on. Seeing a flaming javelin suddenly flying at it from nowhere, a cold light flashed in its merciless eyes. The Terminator wildly turned the steering wheel and forcefully steered the truck aside. Amid the screeching sound of tyre friction, the wheels of the truck left long trails of burnt rubber on the ground. In the end, the friction on the tyres was not enough to withstand the momentum of the drifting truck. The truck slowly fell to its side.

But if Melody’s ‘Sunstrider Flaming Lance’ was something that could be avoided by simple dodging, would it not be too weak to be called a divine art of Sin’dorei?

Although the T-1000 succeeded in steering the truck away from the javelin’s path, but it proved not enough. The burning javelin, as if it had a life of its own, traced a perfect arc in the air and continued flying towards the T-1000. It penetrated through the windshield in front of the T-1000 and ruthlessly pierced his chest.

After the T-1000 took the hit, its expression remained calm. This degree of injury was nothing to it. The Terminator grasped the javelin with its hand, seemingly about to break the javelin with force.

However, at that moment, a long string of incantations escaped from Melody’s lips. Her refreshing voice gave these mysterious incantations a rhythmic beauty.

The moment she finished the chant, the flaming javelin that had penetrated into the T-1000 body instantly exploded, blasting a huge hole in the left side of the T-1000’s chest! The explosion also ignited the whole truck, sending it up in flames!

Not only that. After the explosion, although the scattered flames had started to slowly disperse, they reunited again under the divine art of Melody, forming a huge fire giant in front of the T-1000. The core of the fire giant was formed from the burning remains of the flaming javelin. The fire that was burning throughout the truck rapidly flew to join the body of the fire giant, making it even bigger and fiercer.

The fire giant sent a ferocious punch towards the T-1000.

T-1000 had no intention of taking the fire giant’s punch at all. It probably had no information of similar enemies in its database. Under the high temperature, the surface of the T-1000’s body flashed with what looked like ripple marks from time to time. It firmly believed that taking that fierce punch with his body would do absolutely no good to his health.

It tried to roll backwards to escape, but the Terminator found that, under the action of the high temperature, its back had been fused into the metallic seat of the truck. The roll turned into a funny action which brought it nowhere. The T-1000 could only cross its hands in front of the chest area to block the punch. Unfortunately, the flames had greatly reduced the hardness of the surface of the Terminator’s body, so even though the fire giant, being an elemental creature, was not that good at physical attack, the punch was surprisingly effective. The T-1000 was flattened to the ground!

“Seems like high temperature can cause a lot of trouble for the T-1000,” Sheyan watched the scene in front of him thoughtfully.

The fire giant pressed forward and held the T-1000 in its warm embrace, then put some force onto the Terminator’s waist. The T-1000 was actually broken into two halves at the wasit! But after that, the fire giant’s internal javelin pieces burned out. It could only make a reluctant roar as it dispersed into the air.

To that, Melody could only heave a deep sigh.

“The spiritual power in this world is too thin. But it’s a good thing that the spell only ended after destroying the puppet, or else, things would’ve gotten difficult.”

Sheyan could not help chuckling in amusement when he heard her words.

“If this guy was so easy to deal with, why would I need your help in the first place? You should be more vigilant.”

Melody was perplexed.

“But the puppet was just….”

Even as she said this, she could already see the lower half of the T-1000 start to wriggle, then splice together with the upper half, and the wound quickly recovered. The T-1000 became the cold, ruthless Terminator again, rushing straight towards them!

What was more bizzare was that after the T-1000 gave Melody a deep stare, its eyes suddenly lost their pupils. Out jumped a large number of calculation formulas and calculation data in their place, like they were computer screens.

Then, while the T-1000 was still dozens of meters away, it raised its right hand and aimed it at Melody!

‘Damn it, the T-1000 wasn’t supposed to have any long range attacks!’

That thought flashed across Sheyan’s mind, but he still subconsciously blocked in front of Melody. However, the anticipated pain did not come. All that happened was a yell of surprise from Melody behind him.

“My body feels strange. Why is it so heavy all of a sudden?”

Sheyan immediately checked the battle record through his nightmare imprint. He saw a few lines there that instantly made him break out in cold sweat.

[ Your ally, Melody Sunstrider, was judged by the T-1000 to be a major long-range threat. ]

[ T-1000 has performed the ‘Gravitational Construct’ ability on Melody Sunstrider. The gravity acting on her will be increased by 5 times for 200 seconds! ]

[ For the duration of ‘Gravitational Construct’, the target will be drastically affected in all aspects. ]

“I just knew this monster must have something up its sleeve….” Without any hesitation, Sheyan lifted Melody and fled with her in his arms. At the same time, he also sent the series of battle records into the party communication channel.

The rest of the party were understandably shocked when they saw these battle records, especially Mogensha and Zi.

Originally, when they drafted the battle plan, Mogensha initially volunteered to kite the T-1000. He was confident that he could lead the T-1000 around by the nose and successfully stall him. If that did not work, Zi could always take over this task in a vehicle.

Sheyan rejected the proposal on the spot. He knew that, although the T-1000 did not show any long-range offensive power in the original plot of the Terminator film and could only rely on the existing weapons in that era, his group’s interference must have triggered some butterfly effects. Just to be safe, he should be the one taking on this task since he was the durable and had the best all-around ability among them.

Sheyan’s foresight proved wise. If Mogensha or Zi had been the ones stalling the T-1000, a ‘Gravitational Construct’ would have brought their speed to a crawl. Then, the T-1000 would have been able to get close to them for some inhumane close combat action….

Zi suddenly asked out of curiosity, “Did you use the Ukiyo-e, Seaman? Who’s Melody Sunstrider?”

“….”

“….”

“….”

A shiver ran down Sheyan’s spine. He suddenly yelled, “Oh no, the T-1000 caught up!”

Using this as an excuse to avoid Zi’s inquiries, he abruptly cut off the communication.

But Zi, with the keen sixth sense of a woman, immediately focused her suspicion-filled eyes on Reef and Mogensha. Reef was honest by nature, but he could be pretty sneaky occasionally. He created a flaw in his defence on purpose and let a T-910 punch him in the mouth. The babbling words that leaked out of his injured mouth were indecipherable.

Well, a long-range type like Mogensha could not possibly let himself be punched in the mouth like a thick-skinned MT, right? Or shoot himself in the mouth? He could only force a laugh and squeeze out the words, “She’s the chief of an Elven tribe that boss got to know in the world of the Lord of the Rings.”

“The chief?” said Zi with a worried frown. “Elves have a really long lifespan, so even their chiefs should be quite beautiful, right?”

Mogensha was already sweating profusely. He knew that there was no right answer to the question. However, he was the famous golden AK after all. He was someone who had crawled over mountains of dead bodies in the sea of blood, so he had some street-smarts. With some quick wit, he answered, “Yes! She’s as full of charm as the Matana moon of our Kataya tribe!”

Zi was instantly lead to think of an old woman leading a tribal village and felt a sense of relief. She nodded her head in satisfaction and stopped her questioning.

Although Melody’s weight had increased by five times under the effect of the ‘Gravitational Construct’, Sheyan had no difficulty at all in carrying her while he ran. She was really slim to begin with, weighing 45 kilograms (99 lbs) at most, so five times that was still less than 250 kilograms.

When Sheyan saw that the T-1000 had almost caught up to them, he immediately flung Melody aside and turned back to face the Terminator! The duration of the ‘Gravitational Construct’ on Melody had run out by now, so she put a distance of over a hundred meters between herself and the battlefield, then retrieved from her back the gorgeous bow that was shaped like a phoenix! Then, she slowly drew the bow.
