The Quest for Immortality

”Do you want to become Chieftain?”

”Red Colt’s” expression changed, and he quickly said, ”No... no...”

Mo Hua asked him, ”Is it that you don’t want to... or you don’t dare?”

Red Colt was speechless.

Mo Hua slowly said, ”I want to hear the truth, speak your most genuine thoughts. This life, you have only one chance, if you miss it, there won’t be another...”

Red Colt didn’t know what Mo Hua meant, but deep inside, there seemed to be a sense of urgency. It was as if fate had laid a path before him, letting him choose.

Red Colt slowly nodded, his gaze firm, ”I... want to become Chieftain.”

Mo Hua nodded, ”Good, I understand. The Divine Lord will fulfill your wish and guide your path.”

Red Colt was stunned, ”...fulfill my wish?”

Mo Hua nodded, ”Yes.”

”But...” Red Colt didn’t understand, ”The current Chieftain is my father.”

Mo Hua said, ”The Divine Lord has his arrangements.”

Red Colt still didn’t quite understand. He wanted to say something, but Mo Hua’s figure had already disappeared before him.

When he came, there was no sign.

When he disappeared, there was no trace.

It was as if he were... a messenger of the ”deity.”

But... as Chieftain?

In Red Colt’s heart, there was a faint desire, but more confusion, not knowing what it truly meant.

The next day, he understood.

His father was dead.

The Chief Elder held a council meeting, gathered the tribe of Chasing Cloud, and said with a sad face, ”The Chieftain suffered a sudden illness and just left us like that...”

Everyone looked at each other, not knowing what ”illness” could be so sudden.

But the Chief Elder knew.

It was the ”illness” where a High-Rank Cultivator had directly strangled him in his sleep.

At the same time, the messenger of the Divine Lord also entrusted him with some task in a dream.

The Chief Elder pointed out Red Colt’s name, ”Red Colt... before his death, the Chieftain left a will for you to become the new Chieftain of Chasing Cloud Tribe.”

Red Colt’s eyes widened in confusion.

His two older brothers’ faces were furious.

The tribe of Chasing Cloud was all shocked, wondering why the Chieftain wouldn’t pass the position to the First Young Master or the Second Young Master.

But instead, to this youngest son whom he had least regarded in his life.

Before everyone could express their confusion, Mo Hua strode in with a group of Golden Core cultivators from Danque Tribe and Shugubu, pressing with momentum.

”I’m here to pay respects to the Chieftain,” Mo Hua said regretfully. Then he turned his head, his gaze sharp, asking, ”Who is the next Chieftain?”

Though his voice was soft, the pressure was too intimidating, and no one from Chasing Cloud Tribe dared to answer.

At this moment, everyone knew that being this Chieftain would bear enormous pressure from Mo Hua.

No one dared to bear this pressure.

Chasing Cloud Tribe’s eldest son pointed to Red Colt, saying, ”Father, on his deathbed, passed the Chieftain position to Red Colt.”

Mo Hua nodded, looked at Red Colt, and coldly said, ”I have words to say to the new Chieftain.”

Amid the fearful eyes of the Chasing Cloud Tribe, the new ”Chieftain” Red Colt was taken aside by Mo Hua.

Red Colt looked at Mo Hua, unable to hide his shock, ”You... you...”

Mo Hua calmly said, ”I said, the Divine Lord will fulfill your wish.” .

Red Colt found it hard to believe, ”But... my... father...”

Mo Hua said, ”Your father’s time has naturally ended; everything is the Divine Lord’s guidance.”

”But...” Red Colt’s Heart Spirit trembled, not knowing what to say.

Mo Hua then asked him, ”Didn’t you say you want to be Chieftain?”

”Yes...”

”Why do you want to be Chieftain?”

Red Colt mumbled, unable to speak.

Mo Hua looked into his eyes and said, ”You don’t want the tribe people to suffer your father’s oppression. You don’t want the tribe’s barbaric horses to endure your father’s whip again. Now, famine reigns, and you want the tribe to survive and thrive. You also want Chasing Cloud Tribe to be strong... these are things your father cannot do. His cruelty will only lead to the tribe’s destruction...”

Red Colt’s inner thoughts seemed to be laid bare, with many subtle intentions explained reasonably.

”Kneel,” Mo Hua said.

Red Colt hesitated but instinctively followed Mo Hua’s words and knelt down.

Mo Hua placed his hand on Red Colt’s forehead, his voice gentle, ”Your thoughts are correct.”

”Your father would lead the tribe to destruction.”

”But you would keep Chasing Cloud Tribe surviving in this chaotic world.”

”Strengthen your belief, shoulder the responsibilities you should bear, and contribute to your tribe.”

Red Colt’s expression gradually grew more resolute but still with a hint of hesitation, ”But... am I really qualified to be Chieftain?”

Mo Hua said, ”If you weren’t qualified, the Divine Lord wouldn’t choose you.”

”The Divine Lord chose you, which means you have the talent.”

”All you need to do is follow the Divine Lord’s guidance, overcoming all your hesitation and downfall in confusion, leading the tribe forward with a determined will...”

Mo Hua’s voice was calm and steady.

Red Colt’s face showed a trace of devotion and faith.

He knelt on the ground, bowed his head to the ground, and worshiped Mo Hua three times:

”Red Colt understands. Thank you, Great Shaman, for your guidance. I will do my best to be a good Chieftain and not betray the Divine Lord’s trust.”

Mo Hua nodded with a satisfied look in his eyes.

...

When leaving Chasing Cloud Tribe, everything had already been settled.

After a peculiar, somewhat bizarre, but bloodless and casualty-free ”coup,” Chasing Cloud Tribe became Mo Hua’s ”followers.”

The ordinary tribe members of Chasing Cloud Tribe didn’t know much; they just started raising horses for Mo Hua.

Of course, they were ordinary Barbarian Cultivators; they didn’t need to know much, as long as they could live peacefully.

Meanwhile, Mo Hua profoundly understood some mysteries of the Divine Thought:

Planting Devil in Taoist Heart is to force one’s intentions upon others through the Demon Path spell point. ℯℯ𝑙.

And oneself can trigger the desires already present in people’s hearts to suit one’s purpose.

It’s not about planting from the outside in but drawing from the inside out.

With Uncle’s Dao as a foundation, walk one’s own path.

It is another, diametrically opposed ”Planting Devil in Taoist Heart”...
