The Quest for Immortality

”You actually know the Meditation Method?”

Master Xiao was momentarily incredulous.

Mo Hua was somewhat surprised; he mentioned it casually, not expecting the usually insincere Master Xiao to react so strongly, even somewhat losing composure.

He recalled the mysterious aspects of the Meditation Technique his master had told him about, slightly understanding more.

The Meditation Technique is an extremely obscure spell point.

Few learn it, fewer use it, and even fewer manage to master it to a significant degree.

Throughout a long tao cultivation journey, amidst the mundane world, the entanglement of grudges and desires, very few cultivators can maintain a tranquil heart and persist in practicing the Meditation Technique.

Even his master admitted that as he grew older and gained more experience, his mindset had become tainted, and his meditation level had deteriorated significantly.

Therefore, the inheritance of this Meditation Technique must also be scarce.

Ordinary cultivators cultivate the body but not the heart, cultivate spiritual power but not the Taoist Heart, naturally they wouldn’t bother learning any Meditation Technique.

But cultivators like Water Yama and Master Xiao are different.

They cultivated Evil Qi, and it was through the methods of the Evil Path that they did so.

Thus, if the mind is disturbed, it’s easy to suffer a backlash from the Evil Qi.

The Fire Buddha is likely the same.

He is clearly a mass murderer, yet pretentiously cultivates the Buddhist Law to nurture his heart and suppress the Evil Qi.

Thus, the ”Meditation” spell point is crucial for them.

Of course, Mo Hua thought, with their evil demon mindset of nurturing evilness through killing, even if he told them how to use the Meditation Technique, they might not be able to learn it.

The Buddhist Law can still deceive one’s conscience with ”put down the butcher’s knife, become a Buddha on the spot,” allowing those with blood on their hands, laden with wrongdoings, to seek peace of mind.

The Meditation Technique does not.

Facing one’s heart directly, what it should be, it is.

They likely cannot bear their own sins.

But Master Xiao didn’t know all this, and appeared eager, breathing somewhat heavily, trembling as he said:

”You... young master, you... tell me the Meditation Technique...”

Mo Hua shook his head.

He’s not foolish.

Master Xiao’s expression was hesitant, even somewhat twisted.

He wanted to threaten Mo Hua, but after thinking it over, felt it inappropriate; such a spell point must be willingly offered for it to be beneficial.

The Meditation Technique for cultivating the heart emphasizes subtlety and significance.

Every word holds particular use.

If discontent arises, a few more or fewer words during instruction could lead to significant error.

Temptation is better than coercion.

Master Xiao’s eyes turned dark, ”Young master, tell me what you want? Cultivation Technique, Taoist Skill, woman? I can get them for you.”

”That girl from the Hundred Flower Valley, do you like her? If you do, I’ll find a way to fulfill your desires in this White Bone Maze.”

He assumed Mo Hua, while having a clear Taoist Heart, was still young and ignorant, with youthful vigor, likely hazy on matters of love but with lingering thoughts.

Especially since before coming to the Dragon King Temple, Mo Hua had visited Rouge Boat, shrouded in mist, and desires would inevitably float to the surface somewhat.

Some desires are surely hidden in the heart, just not spoken...

Mo Hua wouldn’t fall for his trick.

Nor would he harm Senior Sister Qianqian.

He pondered for a moment, eyes brightening, ”I can give you the Meditation Technique, but you must show me what’s inside the Water Prison Forbidden Box.”

Master Xiao was stunned, expression somewhat cold.

Mo Hua said, ”Just let me take a look. I’m just curious what’s hidden inside.”

Master Xiao’s eyes narrowed slightly, considering for a moment, then suddenly squinted and said:

”How about just a glance? Young master, if you tell me the Meditation Technique, once the Water Prison Forbidden Box is opened, I can let you learn the spell inside... but only up to the second level, to Foundation Establishment...”

Mo Hua’s expression lit up, ”Really?”

Master Xiao nodded, ”I wouldn’t deceive the young master.”

I trust you as far as I can throw you.

Mo Hua thought silently.

He hesitated, slowly nodding, ”That works too, but... it must happen after leaving the Dragon King Temple, otherwise I’m not reassured.”

Mo Hua nodded determinedly, ”After leaving the Dragon King Temple, we’ll make a deal, you show me the Water Prison Forbidden Box, I’ll tell you the Meditation Method.”

Master Xiao silently observed Mo Hua.

Mo Hua’s gaze was clear, meeting Master Xiao’s.

His eyes, as clear as water, seemed pure enough to reflect Master Xiao’s figure.

Master Xiao’s gaze deepened, ”Good, it’s a deal.”

The two had tentatively reached a bargain.

Afterward, Master Xiao no longer avoided Mo Hua and said to Water Yama:

”Integrate the spiritual power of the Water Prison Skill with blood essence, as I instructed, irrigate the forbidden box...”

Water Yama hesitated, ”My cultivation technique may not have enough control...”

”It’s enough.” Master Xiao said firmly, ”We don’t have much time, we must open the box before leaving the Dragon King Temple, or changes may arise.”

Seeing Water Yama still hesitating, Master Xiao added, ”Rest assured, for working for me, I won’t treat you unfairly; the inheritance inside includes a share for you.”

Water Yama’s heart warmed, and he finally gritted his teeth, ”Yes.”

Then Water Yama began to sit in meditation, circulating the spiritual power throughout his body, gathering it at his heart, waiting for the spiritual power to merge with a drop of heart blood. He then exerted his skills to force this drop of essence blood to his arm, took out a dagger, sliced open his arm, and let the fresh blood irrigate the Water Prison Forbidden Box.

The Water Prison Forbidden Box seemed to come alive, beginning to absorb the blood.

The Daoist Prison Map on it, which practiced the Blood Prison Pupil, also became increasingly crimson.

Mo Hua watched in secret surprise.

So that’s how the box is opened...

This Water Prison Sect’s inheritance truly has a touch of the uncanny.
