The Noble Lady of Lust

Chapter 316: Surprise attack

”Those arrogant fools think they can mock us like this...”

”The Eternal Night Realm may be crippled, but our realm, Ulthezmaar, will take advantage of their arrogance.”

”If the foolish humans thought that only they have magical technology... how naive, our kingdom is also strong.

”we will do what those fools of the eternal night failed to do and prove our superiority.

”When the party is at its peak... we will initiate our plan. I just have to press this button... and everything will be perfect.”

Everyone present, hidden behind the wall of roses, was completely silent. They had just heard something they could not ignore.

The revelation of a dangerous plan. An imminent attack. A demonic plot in full swing.

They were shocked. They didn’t know how to proceed. No one, except Willian who was literally seeing what he had to do.

[Mission: stop, the night of blood.

Consequence: None]

Willian watched the screen that appeared in front of him: it was the oracle of Luxion, his patron god, that guided him and appeared in important moments, now it was more than clear what he had to do.

He understood immediately that if he did not act, all his friends and attendees of the banquet would be in grave danger... but, if he rushed, he could make the situation worse.

No one knew how powerful the infiltrators really were, but he could not stand idly by.

Quickly, he pulled a small accessory in the shape of a tiny sword from his pocket, grasped the pommel and turned it .

”...” (Will)

Then, he looked at Alex and waved his hands: one as if covering himself with a cloak and the other sealing his mouth.

”....!” (Alex)

It took Alex a moment to understand, but he finally got it. He chanted a spell without uttering a sound. Immediately, a barrier of silence formed around them, covering them both.

”Ugh, it’s hard to cast spells without speaking... I need to practice autosuggestion more. I still don’t know how Chris does it so easily...”(Alex).

”Puhaa! Thanks for putting up a barrier, I felt like I couldn’t even breathe.” (Mike)

”More importantly, what was that we just heard, that’s really bad!” (Esteban)

”Let’s calm down and think clearly. This is dangerous. First of all, Alex used a spell...that will activate the barrier, and the guards must already be on their way, that could disrupt them and advance their plans. We have to act fast.” (Ban)

”Wait a moment Ban...a while ago, the royal family gave me an artifact that allows me to use magic without being detected by the barrier no one will come.” (Will)

”You had something like that!!!?” (Alex)

”Yes. It was during was three months ago, while walking through the capital I came across .... No, there’s no time for that now...I activated the artifact. Since I thought the same thing Ban said.” (Will)

”Yeah, but that means we’re on our own now, what do we do now? Maybe not, we have a lot of time left...” (Tharen)

”Well, now without having to worry about the barrier we can extend our senses..uhm.... they all seem to be from the fifth metamorphosis...but they seem to be very strong.” (Alex)

”Just one more rank. That’s nothing. There are more of us, we can take them down easily!” (Mike)

”Hey, calm down! They have a switch. If we attack without further ado, they might flip it.” (Ban)

”Yeah, we have to take that switch away from them first. But... do we really have to do it ourselves?” (Ivan)

”Asking for help alone would be worse. And if they find out, they could activate it.... but acting ourselves is risky. We can’t take responsibility for the consequences if we manage it badly” (Ban).

”Guys... first of all, I have to tell you something. I received an oracle. It looks like I have to act. I’ll trust my god, even if it’s dangerous. But I won’t blame you if any of you decide to retreat.” (Will)

”Who would! I’m not a coward!” (Mike)

”You’ll need my foolproof defense, won’t you? Count me in.” (Ivan)

”It’s not up to us, but I’m in too, if I leave you guys alone you probably won’t count it out .” (Ban)

”I won’t be left behind either. If my friends are in danger, I’ll fight too.” (Alex)

”Well, I’m new to this group... but all of you, though idiots, are nice. I’d be upset if you died. I’m coming too.” (Esteban)

”Tsk, so much talk.... Just say you’re going and that’s it. Well, I’m in too.” (Tharen)

”Guys... Alright, I understand your resolution. Let’s make a plan!” (Will)

”Okay, first we have to get control of the switch. the one who claims to have it sounded more masculine his voices sounded different, so next time he speaks we lock it, and then the fastest of us has to act first and...” (Ban).

Starting with Ban, they quickly put together a plan of attack: simple but precise.

There was no time to think thoroughly, and although it was a pity that their whole group, especially Chris - the strongest and most versatile of them - was not around, and that they had no weapons either, but they could not waste time lamenting.

Chris himself had once told them, ”In an unexpected situation, in the end, they can only rely on themselves.”

And it was fortunate that, at least for this time, most of them were together, they could create a decent plan of attack by working as a team.

..

.

”hey, but are you sure no one’s coming here?”

”calm down, the party is booming, it would be disrespectful to the royal family to go out, and even more so if it’s just for a walk. No noble would do that, besides all their attention is on the younger generation.”

”still, I’m nervous because I can’t extend my senses.”

”what difference does it make, you guys infiltrated the guard, you know the guards don’t pass through this place. We’ve been planning this for weeks, it’s impossible for it to go wrong.”

”if our kingdom isn’t so incompetent... it’s a pity we can’t do it right away.”

”In 13 minutes, the king is scheduled to deliver his speech. Nothing would be more humiliating for them than an attack right after he speaks about his sovereignty. And not only that — after the toast, they will be forced to watch helplessly as everything unfolds. That’s why we must wait.”

”...even so, I think the faster the better, but these are orders from superiors....But, really, no one noticed anything until the end. These camouflage artifacts are very good.”

”Oh, that’s something I have to acknowledge from the Realm of Eternal Night. It is said that they were made by the Queen, who had the blessing of the god of Illusion...”

”but he died in that explosive attack. The king, who was crippled, gave them to us on condition that we bring back Miss Silvercrest’s head, when we finish using her.”

”uh... why specifically hers?”

”uhm, I don’t know, but maybe because thanks to her they managed to catch our human allies, and from there things started to go wrong, plus she’s the daughter of that troublesome guy, the one we’ll finally deal with today.”

”uhm, that makes sense”

”it’s time. The speech should have started by now. Besides, I already did my part. It was hard to infiltrate as a maid and get to the kitchen, though. I put poison in what they’ll drink.”

”Well... since it’s not poison per se, we didn’t get caught. Really, I didn’t know there was a substance that stagnates your mana just by drinking it.”

”Yes, but with that, the strongest in the kingdom will be rendered impotent for a short period of time. It’s only a matter of minutes.”

”yes, definitely no one will come to this place. As long as the king is giving his speech and no guards go off duty... nothing can go wrong-”

”Hey, you guys, there! Stop!” (Will).

The demonic group disguised as humans, who were conversing perhaps to relieve the tension of the great movement they were about to execute, had to stop dead in their tracks when they heard a voice calling them and breaking all their expectations and perfect plan.

Everyone immediately became alert, especially the man holding the switch: he cautiously looked at William, who suddenly emitted a blinding glow taking him by surprise.

The demon did not hesitate for a moment. He already had the order to press the button that would activate the bombs.

They had been ordered that, in any unexpected situation, they were to activate them without hesitation. But then he felt a sharp pain in his back that made him delay for a fraction of a moment.

Swoosh!

”Argh!!!”

The source of this was Ban, who even before William flashed, swift as a gale, and golden glow covering him appeared behind them.

Wielding his two daggers cast by Alex with his earth affinity, he performed his art of attack executing a flurry of precise slashes at the back of the demon who had the artifact.

Ban did not seek to inflict serious wounds, but to destabilize his defenses and any artifact or protection he had: his daggers tore the fabric, and several almost instantaneous and sharp blows followed.

Finally, one pierced through the guard clothing he had and made a small cut on his back, at the cost of destroying the stone daggers causing him the pain that delayed the activation of the artifact.

But even with the pain in his back, the demon believed he could press the button. But Ban was not the only one who had attacked.

And the burning in his back, stole his attention from his hand for a moment that he only now also felt not in fact the problem was that he couldn’t feel it.

”Guys, I’ve got the artifact!” (Esteban)

Esteban equally surrounded by a golden light had attacked simultaneously with Ban.

When he saw the opening created, with his short sword imbued with poison affinity, he slashed at the demon’s arm, numbing it and preventing it from activating the artifact.

For that reason Ban had concentrated on just deactivating any defense, the one who would steal the artifact would be Esteban, who although he is not as strong as the oldest members of the group did his job perfectly, it was a perfect coordination.

In less than a heartbeat, William’s luminous distraction, Ban’s lightning attack and Esteban’s venomous precision had culminated in the capture of the switch , now both withdrew immediately now that their duty had been fulfilled.
