The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

Yu An’s eyes flashed with anger. ”And you still deny it? Hand over the wine!”

Zisang Jin had no intention of complying. She quickly changed the subject, ”Yu An, what’s... what’s that in your hand?”

The Female Cultivator, who seemed to act as both a sister and a mother to her master, was Zisang Jin’s eldest personal disciple, Yu An.

Yu An respectfully presented the message to Zisang Jin with both hands. ”It’s from Peak Master Fu in Lexian City. I brought it to you the moment I received it!”

Zisang Jin put on a tense facade. ”A message from the Border City is crucial!” With that, she moved to open it.

But as she reached for the message, the gourd tucked into her robes was exposed. Yu An snatched it away and fastened it to her own waist. This gourd was a treasure in itself, one that couldn’t be placed into a Storage Ring. The wine inside was meant as an offering to the patriarchs, but Zisang Jin repeatedly stole it to drink.

Zisang Jin muttered, ”Stingy!” Shaking her head and pouting, she began to read the message.

A single glance at the message shocked her partially sober.

”What is the Demon Race playing at? Their losses in the great war two years ago were just as heavy as the Human Race’s. They should be recuperating, not trying to stir up another fight! We have the Guardian Array now. They can’t get in. It would be a pointless slaughter!”

Yu An spoke up from the side. ”It seems the Demon Race is after something specific. On my way here, I saw the Sect Leader heading to the Observatory Platform. I imagine he’ll divine the reason soon enough!”

Just then, Zisang Jin received a voice transmission from the Sect Leader. Her bright, beautiful eyes went wide with shock.

She clapped a hand over her mouth, but the words still came out in a loud gasp. ”The Golden Flood Dragon King Ao Tian’s precious son has been kidnapped!”

Yu An remarked, ”Doesn’t Ao Tian have many sons? Kidnapping just one of them is hardly a big deal.”

Zisang Jin adopted a prim and proper tone. ”Silly disciple, what do you know! The Golden Flood Dragon line is the royalty of the Jiao Race. All of Ao Tian’s other sons have impure bloodlines. There is only one, Ao Jun, whose bloodline is even purer than Ao Tian’s—he has the potential to become a true dragon! That Ao Jun is the absolute treasure of the Jiao Race. He’s normally protected by Nascent Soul Stage Demon Race Elders at all times. I have no idea how anyone managed to kidnap him! It’s no wonder the Jiao Race is willing to start a war. They would never allow the kidnappers to bring Ao Jun back behind our Guardian Array alive!”

Yu An nodded. ”I see. Was the Sect Leader able to divine who did it?”

”He only managed to trace it to Fu Xiao’s youngest disciple, Meng Yingluo. The Sect Leader said there was also a man and a woman involved, but he couldn’t divine anything about them other than their genders. Both of them possess secret treasures that obscure heavenly fate.”

Zisang Jin scoffed. ”A man and a woman? That’s as good as knowing nothing! Now I’m curious. That Meng Yingluo is only at the Ninth-Layer Foundation Establishment. How did she manage to snatch someone from under the nose of a Nascent Soul Stage expert?”

As she spoke, Zisang Jin pulled a token from her bracelet and spoke into it, ”Chen Dong, Chen Dong, I want you to investigate who Meng Yingluo from Lexian City usually interacts with. She’s kidnapped Ao Tian’s son, and I’m rather curious!”

Having said her piece, Zisang Jin staggered to her feet, preparing to fly toward Cyan Sword Peak on the Cyan Sky Sect’s Main Peak.

Just then, a reply came from the token in her hand. The message was so shocking that Zisang Jin fell straight to the ground. Even the ever-composed Yu An was left gaping at the words she overheard.

A few short words came from the token, stunning both of them into silence: ”Ao Jun is in my hands!”

Zisang Jin knew Chen Dong had reached the Golden Core Stage, but even a Golden Core Stage cultivator shouldn’t be able to snatch someone from a Nascent Soul Stage expert.

Neither Zisang Jin nor Yu An could make any sense of it.

DONG... DONG... DONG... At that moment, the Cyan Sky Sect’s assembly bell began to toll.

Zisang Jin glanced back at the main hall, wondering if she should tell the person inside. After a moment of deliberation, she decided she had to. She pushed the door open and went in.

’The junior martial sister in the hall is a practitioner of the Extreme Emotion Sword Dao. Her progress is entirely dependent on the person to whom she has devoted her heart. Chen Dong has kidnapped Ao Tian’s precious son, placing himself in mortal danger. If he were to die in the Demon Realm, her Dao Heart could shatter in an instant. It’s better to tell her.’

The flush had faded from Zisang Jin’s cheeks, but her dreamy eyes were still intoxicating. When she saw the beauty standing amidst the sea of flowers, she felt even more entranced. Though there was no desire in her gaze, she knew that beauty in its purest form, regardless of gender, was always captivating.

’Good thing this junior sister is a cultivation maniac who never wanders about. Otherwise, who knows how many Cultivators would fall for her charms!’

The figure in the sea of flowers slowly opened her eyes. A melodious voice asked, ”Senior Sister, what is it?”

Zisang Jin took a light step, floating to Tian Sisi’s side. She said playfully, ”Your man ran off to the Demon Realm. Not only that, he kidnapped the son of a major figure there. He’s probably not coming back!”

Tian Sisi gripped the blade in her hand, rose to her feet, and walked toward the exit.

Zisang Jin quickly asked, ”Where are you going?”

”I’m going to get him.” Tian Sisi’s voice was like polished jade, each word spoken with absolute certainty, as if stating an undeniable fact of the universe.

Zisang Jin slapped her forehead. ”Wait, Junior Sister! Many of the Peak Masters are going. We’ll go together!”

Then she shook her head and sighed. ’Sigh, practitioners of the Extreme Emotion Sword Dao are impossible to figure out. You were the one who didn’t want to be with him, and now you’re the one who can’t let go. To hold nothing back... that’s what it means to be extreme, I suppose! Such oddballs! It’s a good thing this Emotion Sword Peak was renamed Cyan Sword Peak. How would we ever recruit anyone otherwise?’

With that, she pouted and hurried to catch up.
