The Martial Unity

Chapter 4090: Opportunistic Forces

How could he possibly defeat the universe itself?

He didnʼt know.

The reality was that there was no concrete solution. There was no solution that could allow him to win a fight directly.

”I will probably need something that is just qualitatively much, much deeper than anything I possess right now.”

However, nothing came to mind. In many ways, while the information dimension and the power it offered to those who could enter it with phenomenological uniformity was indeed vast, there was a limit to how much of the power that it offered could be tapped into by one person. The reality was that phenomenological uniformity was merely a key into the Transcendent Realm; after that, one ʼs base power, oneʼs body, and mind would ultimately determine how strong one was.

He simply shook his head and put the matter aside for the time being. It was not a problem that he could find the solution to very easily.

”Iʼll figure it out someday, but not today. Letʼs go to sleep, Amare.”

Even as they rested together on either side of a sleeping Ria, human civilization continued chugging along. Gaian Civilization worked around the clock to adapt to its new situation and its new circumstances. The implementation of the Gaian Alliance, as planned by the member states, was something that couldnʼt happen in a single day. It took time to set up the institutions and the bodies that would serve as the body of the Gaian Alliance. It took time to ensure that everything was running smoothly, of course.

There was also the fact that the Gaia Reproduction Plan was something that was being thoroughly fleshed out. The committee, led by the Shepherd, continued working on the various proposals that Rui had commissioned from them.

Whispers of the privatization of space and expansion had already begun to move across the political sphere of Gaia. There were many parties who were alarmed by the incredibly bold and ambitious plans of the Emperor of Water to try to accelerate the expansion of human civilization.

Even his now notorious ʼten thousand stars in ten daysʼ ambition had begun to proliferate in the highest circles with some of the most powerful people in the entirety of human civilization.

Not a single person could bring themselves to believe that the Emperor of Water wanted to expand at such an astronomical rate. After all, what kind of madman even thought it was possible? Why would one want to expand at such an absurd pace?

Regardless, their private compunctions remained as just that: private.

Not a single person in the entirety of Gaian Civilization had the power to challenge the Emperor of Water. He was the de facto ruler of Gaian Civilization after he had become the Transcendent that they had at their disposal, making their lives not even remotely comparable.

However, perhaps that was why this was a good idea.

This plan was one that clearly extracted from the Emperor of Water much control over human civilization. After all, if the Gaian Alliance had been the one doing all the expansion, then the organization would have been able to maintain absolute control over all of human civilization, and thus, the Emperor of Water, who basically controlled the alliance, could maintain absolute control over all ten thousand stars.

This was one of the reasons that autarchs, dictators, and other kinds of authoritarians often refused to privatize industry. After all, they would be unable to maintain an absolute control over their state if there were too many powerful private actors.

This was the reason that they didnʼt have anything that would allow them to get over them to pull the rug from underneath them. However, the Emperor of Water appeared to be completely fine with all of human civilization going completely out of control. While he would, of course, maintain tremendous amounts of influence over human civilization, which would make it impossible for him to guide human civilization as he had before.

It was truly shocking that he was willing to bite such a bullet. The Emperor of Water had demonstrated some control-freak tendencies in the past with his overwhelmingly forced reign of order over the Martial World, subjugating it with his law and order. However, now he appeared to be almost uncaring for what became of human civilization and of the Martial World if colonization and expansion were privatized.

”If the Emperor of Water is inviting us to take this power for ourselves, then who are we to refuse?”

This was almost a common thought that reverberated across the minds of countless players across Gaian Civilization. There were many business tycoons, powerful families, and influential Pathwalkers who smelled the perfect opportunity to spread their wings a little outside of the shadow of the Emperor of Water that overshadowed the entirety of Gaian Civilization. That was why many of them were actually quite delighted by the Emperorʼs desire to privatize expansion.

Nothing had been decided, of course. The committee that was responsible for drafting proposals had only just been put together by the Shepherd to craft detailed proposals that would allow for human civilization in a privatized manner.

It was still possible for it to be rejected for an ultimately more sane and regular approach of state expansion and nationalized colonization that would bring about greater stability.

But many of them already began gathering the capital that they would need in order to build the assets that would help them travel to space and colonize their own starships. That was just how excited people were to gain freedom.

The reality was that there was simply too much power for too little territory in Gaian Civilization, and now that that power had the opportunity to disperse, they would take it. Thus, privatization of expansion also served the purpose of being a pressure release valve to let the boiling internal pressure spread across the cosmos and stabilize their civilization. And certainly, it was something that pathwalkers, investors, businessmen, explorers and adventurers alike were looking forward to.
