The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 1290: Chapter 1290: Li’s Task

Upon hearing the sound of the surgery room door opening, Wu Yong and Li both stopped their antics and stood up with Lin Tian.

”Doctor, how is she?” Lin Tian asked eagerly.

The doctor replied expressionless, ”The situation is more optimistic than imagined, no damage to the spine. Blood has been transfused, and the wound on her back has been stitched. Now, what’s needed is good rest and recovery.”

Hearing this answer, Lin Tian let out a heavy sigh of relief. Zhang Ya’Er’s current injuries were considered the lightest.

Then Lin Tian asked again, ”Will there be any after-effects?”

The doctor shook his head lightly and said, ”If there are no accidents during the recovery phase now, there won’t be.”

”Okay, thank you.”

Afterwards, Zhang Ya’Er was transferred from the operating room to a regular ward. Lin Tian still felt uneasy, so he walked into the ward, checked Zhang Ya’Er’s pulse, and used Spiritual Qi to examine her body.

To avoid disturbing Zhang Ya’Er’s rest, Wu Yong specifically lowered his voice and asked, ”How is she?”

Lin Tian didn’t say but gestured with his hand and whispered, ”Let’s talk outside.”

Stepping out of the ward and closing the door, Lin Tian said, ”It’s pretty much what the doctor said earlier, but we still need to see how she recovers these few days.”

Li rubbed his nose and suddenly uttered, ”Not bad.”

Wu Yong was puzzled and asked, ”What do you mean, not bad?”

Li went on, ”She’s prettier than I imagined, and her figure is better than expected. She’s wearing a hospital gown now, and her makeup is off; she looks naturally beautiful, and I like her eyes. Although they’re closed, I can feel that her eyes are very beautiful.”

Wu Yong and Lin Tian exchanged glances and were speechless for quite a few seconds. Then Wu Yong patted Li on the shoulder and said, ”Hey, are you serious? The girl is injured like this, and you’re still noticing those details? Are you lovestruck or just shameless?”

Lin Tian said leisurely, ”I think it’s both.”

Li straightened his spine slightly and said with righteous indignation, ”You two stop slandering me! Second Brother sent someone to me, what’s wrong with assessing them? I’m not lovestruck or shameless, I’m doing it for work!”

Lin Tian chuckled and said, ”So you’re quite satisfied with this assistant, then?”

Li nodded lightly, maintaining his composure, ”She’s alright. At least her looks and figure pass. If my assistant doesn’t look good, forget about bringing them out; it wouldn’t even be pleasant to look at them myself.”

Wu Yong rolled his eyes and said with annoyance, ”You’re the perfect example of taking advantage and playing humble!”

Lin Tian narrowed his eyes slightly, patted Li on the other shoulder, and smiled, ”Since that’s the case, I’ll trouble you to take care of her for the next few days! She got hurt under my watch, so you have to take good care of her. If anything goes wrong, you’ll be the one to answer!”

Li forced a bitter smile and said, ”Why me?”

Lin Tian laughed heartily and said, ”Because she’s your assistant, who else is supposed to take care of her?”

Wu Yong chimed in, ”Hmm, makes sense!”

”Makes no sense! It’s clearly shirking responsibility!”

Lin Tian still smiling asked, ”Will you take this task or not?”

Li gritted his teeth and said, ”Fine! It’s just taking care of a woman, isn’t it? I can’t do it alone; I’ll need to hire two female nurses, and the company will cover their wages.”

...

In the Black Gold company, there’s a room reserved for Lin Tian, but he’s barely stayed there. However, it’s always kept clean, with all toiletries still new, but the wardrobe is empty, without any change of clothes. So, he borrowed a new set from Wu Yong.

Returning to the room with the new clothes, he went straight into the bathroom to take a shower. After finishing, he checked the time—it was exactly ten o’clock. Putting on new shoes, Lin Tian left the company in his Porsche. On the way, he saw a flower shop still open and bought a bouquet of baby’s breath, then headed directly to Liou Qingcheng’s home.

Although he had told Liou Qingcheng on the phone that he wouldn’t return today, Zhang Ya’Er was now being taken care of, and Lin Tian felt he wasn’t much of help staying there. The time wasn’t too late, so he decided to go back.

He and Liou Qingcheng had been a couple for nearly a year, but they hadn’t spent much time together. Liou Qingcheng never said anything, but Lin Tian felt guilty towards her; if he could go back, he’d go back, even if it’s just to say good night and good morning.

When Lin Tian drove into the yard, he looked up and saw the light in Liou Qingcheng’s room was still on. It’s already past ten, and based on Liou Qingcheng’s habits, she should be asleep by now; why was the light still on?

With questions in mind, Lin Tian entered the house with the bouquet of baby’s breath. Just as he was about to go upstairs, he saw Liou Qingcheng leaning against the upstairs railing, smiling brightly at him.

”Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

”Why are you back?”

”Things there are almost sorted out.”

”I’m studying; exams are coming soon.”

They spoke simultaneously twice, as if they had practiced, and this feeling of synchronicity made them exchange smiles.

Lin Tian took two steps at a time up the stairs, stood in front of Liou Qingcheng, handed over the baby’s breath, and smiled, ”I saw a flower shop still open, so I bought these for you.”

Liou Qingcheng took the flowers with a smile, her face blushing slightly, ”Actually, I’m just happy you’re back.”

Lin Tian chuckled and stepped forward to cuddle her shoulders, just about to get handsy. Liou Qingcheng suddenly held his hand and quietly said, ”No.”

”Why not? Could it be... you’re on your period?”

”No, let’s go to the room first.”

Lin Tian still had a puzzled look on his face, and Liou Qingcheng blushed and whispered, ”My parents have returned from their trip.”

Lin Tian suddenly understood, indeed the hallway wasn’t the right place...

Just then, Yan Xinrou’s laughter echoed from downstairs, ”No worries, you both can pretend we didn’t come back; I’ll just watch and certainly won’t disturb you.”

Both Lin Tian and Liou Qingcheng were startled, Lin Tian turned to look and discovered Yan Xinrou was in her robe, holding a cup of milk, leaning against the wall with a bright smile watching him.

”Mom... when did you come back? Why didn’t you tell me in advance? I could’ve picked you up at the airport,” Lin Tian said, chuckling nervously.

Yan Xinrou snorted lightly, ”Enough with the pleasantries, you’re so busy, when do you have time to pick me up at the airport? I heard the car in the yard and knew you were back, just came out to check, and then saw you bullying my daughter.”
