The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1393: Setting out for the Werewolves

As soon as the gunshot echoed, Iris was thrown out.

Iris was launched out of the trench—slamming onto the hard ground.

Cold sweat drenched her shaking body as she bolted upright, clutching her heart. Her chest heaved up and down rapidly, her breaths came in desperate gulps—as she fought to steady herself from what she had seen.

She was already outside but the pain from pulling the trigger was still there.

Mavenna quickly rushed to check on her.

”Come on, talk to me, where are you hurt?” Mavenna asked, preparing to heal her.

But Iris shook her head in response, ”Itʼs alright... you couldnʼt heal it anyway”

”What do you mean?”

”I mean the wound is not tangible so you canʼt heal it”

Upon hearing this, Mavenna frowned but she quickly understood what Iris meant.

ʼI donʼt know her position in the Dark Elf Kingdom, but I am assuming sheʼs a noble,ʼ Mavenna thought as her frown deepened, she didnʼt expect Iris to be this shaken up. ʼA noble has their fair share of troubles, Iris is not exactly innocent. To think Rexʼs trauma shaken her this much—what could it be?ʼ

Mavenna was curious but she knew that it wasnʼt her position.

On the other side, Elder Tilrith leered at Iris, ”I warned you—you wonʼt be able to handle it”

In her eyes, it was obvious that Iris wouldnʼt be able to handle Rexʼs past.

Her achievement and race show it and Elder Tilrith was right.

As she made that remark, she shifted her gaze away to check Rexʼs soul projection.

Her eyes squinted—the flame that was engulfing Rexʼs soul projection, swayed a bit—until it became weaker. Seeing this, Elder Tilrith nodded, ”Reckless as you are, that worked. But we still have a long way to go...”

Glancing to the side, there were still a lot more trenches that would need to be visited.

Before going through with it, Elder Tilrith checked on Rex.

”It wasnʼt that hard, now, is it?” She commented, crossing her arms.

Rexʼs face was still covered—nobody could see the kind of expression he was wearing right now, nobody could guess what he was feeling. But then—he turned his head towards Iris on the side.

Seeing this, Iris became nervous.

Not being able to see Rexʼs expression made it way worse.

”What do you see?” He asked in a low tone, he was demanding an answer rather than asking.

Upon hearing this, Iris paused for a second before she steeled her resolve to answer.

”I saw when you were instructed by Lieutenant Beard t-”

”Okay, I know enough”

Iris wasnʼt given the time to finish her sentence but she understood.

Bringing up past trauma is definitely hard for Rex.

Moreover, he had only gone through his biggest hurdle moments ago.

Not only Iris but Mavenna—and Elder Tilrith, also knew, that Rexʼs biggest hurdle was that he didnʼt let anyone inside, he rather suffer on his own than share his burdens with others. All of his feelings were buried inside, it was the kind of person he was.

Shaped by his past.

Now, Iris came to understand better why Rex was the way he is right now.

ʼHaving to swallow his own feelings—must have made him hopeless. Not to mention, his past and desire were used by that lieutenant to control him, so that he would obey,ʼ Iris pondered, sighing heavily. ʼNo wonder he was keeping it all inside, he trusted no oneʼ

Clap!

Elder Tilrith clapped her hands, becoming the center of attention once again.

”Come on. Get up and letʼs keep going, we donʼt have much time” She said, looking at Iris.

Upon hearing this, Iris gulped and sweated—it was clear that Elder Tilrith was playing her.

She barely came out of that in one shape and now she was told to go to the next one.

”No, wait,” Mavenna intervened, her hand glowed with pink energy.

She used it to check on Irisʼ soul—also being a Succubus, she could do something like this.

As her eyes glowed, peering into Irisʼ soul, she shook her head.

”You canʼt go on, your soul was already throbbing from that one. If you go through with this, you will endanger your life” Mavenna reprimanded—there was no chance Iris could go again considering that there would be harder memories.

Elder Tilrith smirked teasingly, ”Our time is restricted,”

”Should I combine all of these trenches to make it all in or nothing?” She added in a taunt.

Iris winced, the thought of diving into all of Rexʼs past in one swoop scared her, one she was certain would kill her soul ten times over. But she knew Elder Tilrith had her own motives, for suggesting it.

Clearly, the Demon Queen wanted to be the one to peer into Rexʼs memories herself.

Quick-witted as she always was, Elder Tilrith could tell what Iris was thinking.

ʼIʼm sure she suspects me of taking advantage of this situation, and she would not be wrong, but...ʼ Elder Tilrith glanced to the trenches ahead—as a bead of cold sweat trickled down the side of her face. ʼsomething here, bring a bad premonition, my soul is reacting to it. I am sure of it, thereʼs something here even I canʼt handleʼ

Just as she thought of that, Irisʼ eyes sparkled as she remembered something.

”As she said,” Iris gestured to Mavenna. ”I canʼt possibly go through with this, Iʼm not strong enough—and letting you, Demon Queen is also out of the option. But there is someone that could help us”

”Whoever it is, they shouldnʼt be far since I have only today” Elder Tilrith replied.

Hearing this, Iris nodded, ”Well, that person is here in the Dark Elf Kingdom. Lord Kyran...”

”A Silverstar Pack member?” Elder Tilrith raised an eyebrow.

Having no qualms with it, she turned to Rex who was silent all this while, ”Prince?”

Staying quiet for a good minute to deliberate, Rex finally came to a decision.

”Bring him here,” He commanded, trusting Kyran that he could handle this in his state.

...

Meanwhile—traveling across an empty plain on the border between two forests was a royal caravan escorted by multiple forces. Two platoons of Dark Elven riders consisting of almost two hundred fighting powers surrounded the caravan from all sides.

On the outer layer were more battalions of soldiers in red prudian armor.

Each one was trained and menacing.

As if the lineup wasnʼt strong enough, there were also guardians hiding in the shadows.

Hidden scouts were tasked to make sure the path ahead was clean of anything dangerous.

And leading at the front was a powerful mutated wolf, charging with white lightning.

Carrying such a force to cross owned land—this convoy was sure to bring an identification.

Billowing on the sides of the caravan at the center as well as carried by the Dark Elven riders was a flag that nobody had ever seen before. It took the shape of a proud triangular pennant—its edges razor-sharp like the claws of a wolf.

Against a bold backdrop of black and carmine—two brilliant silver stars anchored the upper left and right corners, their light linked by a jagged horizontal claw-mark stripe, that ran the length of the flag as though torn by a predator.

Commanding attention at the center was a glowing wolfʼs eye.

Its iris is etched with intricate lines radiating outward, emanating an eerie luminescent in soft white streaks. Perched above the wolfʼs eyes was a tilted black and red crown, its very sharp angles made the flag exude an overbearing presence.

Even with the darkness of the night, the silver stars and the wolf eye were glowing.

Naturally, this convoy belonged to the Clarerntium Empireʼs forces.

Just earlier, the flag was finalized with the authority of Evelyn, but it hasnʼt been announced to the public yet. Initially, Evelyn was waiting for the right moment to announce this—maybe when Rex achieved something great or once the Tabaxis were turned into an ally.

But with the Scarlet Banes Kingdomʼs problem, she decided to use it now instead.

She would be announcing the official flag once the Scarlet Banes Kingdom fell to their rule.

Evelyn, Adhara, and Gistella were inside the caravan.

Out of the three of them, Adhara and Gistella looked very nervous.

”Iʼm the one whoʼs going to contest Princess Seleneʼs authority, and coax the Werewolves to our rule,” Evelyn uttered—sweeping her gaze to the others. ”But why is it that the two of you are the ones being nervous instead?”

”Itʼs a big deal, of course, weʼre nervous” Adhara replied, leaning her head back.

She tried sleeping it out until they arrived but she couldnʼt sleep.

”And you, Gistella?” Evelyn turned to Gistella, her face was cold with seriousness.

Realizing that Evelyn was looking at her, Gistella blinked her eyes and smiled, ”Sorry?”

”Sigh...” Evelyn shook her head, it was obvious that Gistellaʼs mind—was somewhere else. ”Are you still hung up on the Undead? Even Rex canʼt predict it, there is no need for you to blame yourself for it. Not to mention, thereʼs the Demon Moon”

”But still, I should be able to sense them because Iʼm previously an Undead” Gistella mused.

Losing the Death Order Stones as well as Shadow was a huge blow not that it would have a direct impact—but the Undead would be able to grow stronger than ever. Gistella had been calculating the amount of resources the Undead had obtained.

And her calculation made her worry, the balance of power could tilt to the Undead.

”Focus, Gistella,” Evelyn cleared her throat and warned. ”we canʼt fail this...”

Upon hearing this, Gistella nodded firmly—she needed to focus on the moment more.

”So, is there anything I need to do in particular?” Adhara asked questioningly—she could feel that they were nearing an encounter with the Werewolves, they were about to enter the core territory. ”Should I act a certain way? Or will it be better for me to act as I normally would?”

”Iʼll do all the talking but yes, I need you to act a certain way” Evelyn nodded.

She paused for a second, pondering about what lies ahead.

Knowing that there will be an opposition, that doesnʼt want the Scarlet Banes Kingdom to fall to the Clarentium Empire, she needed to play this right, especially since there was only Rexʼs clone with them.

Rex already told her the information she would need to tackle the Werewolves.

All she needs to do is play her cards right.

”I have learned everything about the Werewolves from Flunra,” Evelyn started before shifting her focus back to the others. ”Adhara, youʼre the Female Alpha so you should act right. Make sure to never smile and pick a fight with someone the moment you step in”

”Okay... I could do thatʼ Adhara nodded.

She takes pride in her position in the pack so she gladly accepted Evelynʼs instruction.

Evelyn then turned to Gistella, ”Everyone knew that you infiltrated the Fifthbornʼs side, youʼre perceived as a snake—and dangerous, especially since youʼre once an Undead. Make sure to always have a light smile when weʼre there. Use only your eyes to smile”

”My eyes...?” Gistella was confused but nodded anyway. ”I will try my very best”

Now that they know what to do, the tension in the air lessened greatly.

It seemed that not knowing what to do made them nervous and Evelyn handled that.

”Are you sure placing Rexʼs clone there is the right move?” Adhara asked—peeking out of the window. Rexʼs clone was outside, he was riding Delta and was leading the convoy despite he was the Emperor.

Upon hearing this, Evelyn nodded, ”Yes, his impending visit is known already. So itʼs fine”

Just then, the convoy finally encountered the first representation from the Werewolf forces.

But it was a friendly force, one that Adhara and Gistella recognized.

It was Valkis.

Valkis greeted Rexʼs clone before he was told to go to the caravan.

He nodded in understanding and was escorted to the caravan.

Soon—the door to the caravan was opened—and Valkis knelt down on one knee in respect to the individuals sitting inside. Adhara was the first one to speak, ”Evelyn, this is Valkis, he was a great help during the night of the Demon Moon”

”Valkis,” She then turned to Valkis. ”this is the Empress and also the Luna, Evelyn”

”Itʼs a pleasure to be near your grace,”

”As do I...”

”Do you want to go straight to the capital? Prince Alaric is already prepared”

”No, weʼre making a detour first before meeting the Alpha Primes”

”Detour to where?”

”Iʼd like to meet with Princess Selene first, arrange it for me”
