The Great Thief

Even after finding the correct strategy, taking the First Clear was still difficult. It wasn’t for another week and a half before Ruling Sword’s three-guild alliance would finally defeat high Astromancer Solarian.

In fact, this rate was already considered quite fast.

If it weren’t for Lu Li’s rebirth, the First Clear of high Astromancer Solarian would have been taken by Seventh Heaven after another two weeks. Blood Red War Flag and Glory Capital would also take another two weeks.

Ruling Sword had exploited a bug when fighting in the Serpentshrine Cavern.

In response, the other clubs that couldn’t compete focused their resources and manpower on doing the Eye Instance Dungeon, so they had faster progress than normal.

It hadn’t even been a day after Ruling Sword had defeated Astromancer Solarian before Seventh Heaven and Blood Red War Flag defeated the Boss too. Glory Capital had also invested quite a bit into this Instance Dungeon, but had obviously fallen behind these three clubs.

The reason was quite simple – Sorrowless refused to admit defeat.

He refused to believe that Glory Capital would lose in the Serpentshrine Cavern, so he hadn’t given up on that Instance Dungeon.

They were working on both Instance Dungeon strategies at once. This was the kind of stubbornness that you could only afford by being rich.

Unfortunately, the most direct consequence of attempting to do both at once was that they achieved nothing. Ruling Sword’s Sky Moon took Serpentshrine Cavern’s First Clear and although The Eye’s First Clear had not yet been taking, Glory Capital was obviously behind the pack.

After defeating High Astromancer Solarian, everyone now faced Kael’thas Sunstrider.

This was going to be another long process.

Lu Li and Ruling Sword also had to face a formidable opponent in the competition – Stellar Union.

Stellar Union was a guild with a long history. Stellar Union and Seventh Heaven were once experts of Instance Dungeon strategies. In many games of the past, Seventh Heaven had been on the forefront of taking the Instance Dungeons and they continued to do so for many years. This was the advantage they had over Glory Capital and Blood Red War Flag. However, Stellar Union had taken another path.

They started picking up professional players and debuting them in the guild.

It sounded weird, but this really was the history of Stellar Union and those years were disastrous for it.

Now, Stellar Union had changed once again. No one really understood their style, but no one dared to offend them either. After all, Twilight and Hit Me 72 Times were still there.

Mages were heavily favoured by Dawn and Paladins were basically the sons of the System.

The two commentators were chattering in the commentator’s box, but no one was paying attention to them. Everyone’s attention was focused on the arena. Stellar Union’s Hit Me 72 Times was expected to go first, but who would be Ruling Sword’s first player?

“Let me, let me Boss! Look at my poor appearance rate this season,” Fat Monkey begged as he hugged Lu Li’s thigh and didn’t let go.

In comparison, Stellar Union was comparatively a very weak club and if he didn’t get to play now, there would be no chance later.

“Monkey you can’t!” Lu Li refused as he shook his head.

“Boss, please, I can. I’ll do anything – you can use my head as a ball. You can use me as your footstool…” Fat Monkey never had a chance because Moonlight and Mu Qiu would always go first and there was no one who could completely defeat the two of them.

“Well, the Club has been in financial difficulty lately… and I can’t even afford to take everyone out to dinner…”

“Boss, what is this? I’ll pay for dinner; we can invite everyone from the Elite groups. Why wait? We could go tonight,” Fat Monkey offered, taking this opportunity to flaunt his wealth.

“Wow, Monkey you’ve got so much money that some other club might ask you to finance them.”

“Boss, please don’t joke about that. I, Fat Monkey, am not a person like that. If I have any disloyalty in my heart, then the heavens can curse me to be single for the rest of my life.”

“Alright then, I’ll let you fight in this one. Good luck, I’m counting on you.”

Fat Monkey was overjoyed and immediately jumped into the arena.

“Didn’t we already agree to let him on? Why did you lie to him?” Mu Qiu asked with a puzzled look as everyone began to discuss Fat Monkey’s debut.

“Easy come, easy go. If I press him like this, he will play better.”

Lu Li’s reasons made sense and he presented himself as an intelligent person.

“Tch, you’re just teasing him. You made him pay for dinner and swear that he would never leave. You’re absolutely shameless,” Kitty Likes Meat said, immediately seeing the situation for what it was.

“Kitty, I am not that kind of person. You will understand when you’re older,” Lu Li sighed.

Fat Monkey had already traded blows with Hit Me 72 Times.

In fact, Lu Li wasn’t kidding. He really was trying to pressure Fat Monkey in this way. Otherwise, Fat Monkey would just charge in without a second thought and would fall into whatever trap that had been set.

When Fat Monkey was forced to get serious, he was actually a pretty good player.

Lu Li rubbed his nose in self-pity as these ordinary people couldn’t see his good intentions. He wondered what he would eat that night. Fat Monkey didn’t give any restrictions, so surely he was allowed to bring family. He might just bring his sister and Water Fairy to have a nice dinner too.

Given that he could afford to buy dinner for hundreds of players, it seemed that Fat Monkey had recently made a lot of money.

To the audience’s surprise, Fat Monkey actually defeated Hit Me 72 Times. Although he only had a slight advantage, it was still something.

Hit Me 72 Times was not a star player, but he was definitely stronger than some of the other star players out there.

But if Fat Monkey could defeat him, then what did that say about Fat Monkey?

“Boss, what a shame!”

After such an exhausting fight, Fat Monkey was quickly defeated by Stellar Union’s Twilight.

“Monkey, you’ve worked hard. Let’s just enjoy a good dinner tonight.”

“Thanks Boss,” Fat Monkey said as he sat beside Lu Li and rested, but he sensed that something was wrong.

Lu Li now sent out Moonlight. He had long since wanted to test Twilight. Although the System didn’t favour Warriors, this didn’t stop Moonlight.

Moonlight came on and Lu Li didn’t say anything.

There was absolutely nothing to say. Moonlight enjoyed fighting so much that most people thought he was crazy. And when he fought, it was like he threw all caution into the wind. In some ways, it was just like Fat Monkey’s fighting style.

However, this was the wrong way to think about it. Unlike Fat Monkey, Moonlight’s fighting ability was much more consistent.

Twilight was also a very solid player. At their level, any attempt to quickly defeat an opponent would reveal too many weaknesses to them.
