The Great Thief

Fat Monkey felt a hit on his back just before his body dissipated in a white light.

He was just one step away!

His tears almost started flowing. He had been fighting for so long, which meant that he had no way of getting away and his hope in Mu Qiu had been crushed by Cloudy Leaf.

However, Mu Qiu wasn’t too frustrated. He hadn’t expected to save his teammate as they were too far apart.

He took a detour in order to meet up with his other teammate; there was just no need to face a Mage with such strong burst potential. Anger wouldn’t solve this problem. As a senior player that had been playing games for 2 to 3 years, he knew this better than anyone else.

Cloudy Leaf had performed a miracle, as he equalized the number of players on each side.

However, Ruling Sword was left with Sakura Memories, Moonlight and Mu Qiu, while Gale Legion was left with Gaze, Cloudy Leaf and Flowing Wind. In terms of damage output, Ruling Sword wasn’t as strong as Gale Legion, but there were few people left who were optimistic about Gale Legion’s chances.

“Gale Legion’s defeat in this group round is quite unfortunate,” Jiu Feng said sympathetically.

“If nothing else happens, the final score should be six to three. Ruling Sword has their Healer Mu Qiu and Sakura Memories’ Bloodlust will eventually come off cooldown. Gale Legion only has damage output players that are going to die soon,” Four Seas Dragon said calmly. Although this seemed even at first, the gap between these two teams was actually quite wide.

“Their only chance is to kill Sakura Memories, but is it going to be possible?” Jiu Feng questioned.

Even Jiu Feng could see this. Gale Legion weren’t dumb and knew that Sakura Memories had to be killed. Otherwise, Moonlight’s damage under Bloodlust’s effect would be devastating.

However, they had less HP and Ruling Sword had a healer. If they wanted to kill Sakura Memories, they needed to fight through Mu Qiu’s healing. Would they be able to do it?

Even if they couldn’t, they were going to try!

Through all the ups and downs of this match, the audience had been mesmerized. Gale Legion didn’t accept defeat and there were some who applauded them for it. The players were encouraged to see them equalise after fighting from behind. They were all waiting for what they were going to do next…

Mu Qiu began healing Sakura Memories without a second thought, before using his weapon to cut Flowing Wind.

Mu Qiu hadn’t used any skills; he had just used an ordinary attack. He was a Paladin that primarily focused on Intelligence, so the damage that was dealt to Flowing Wind was embarrassing. It barely managed to deal double-digit damage.

Sakura Memories didn’t look back and just ran behind Moonlight.

She had someone healing her and she was continually running away, so it wasn’t easy to kill her. As time passed, Gale Legion eventually found that Flowing Wind was in danger as he was now below half HP. With no one healing them, it wasn’t too difficult for Moonlight and Mu Qiu to do this.

Cloudy Leaf wasn’t easy to kill either. He had two Ice Blocks and he had a number of skills that could regenerate Mana. As a result, Flowing Wind had become the target.

Sakura Memories ran as she slammed a fiery red totem into the ground. A tongue of flame flew out to attack Gaze and Cloudy Leaf, but this totem was just to distract them. Its true damage and slow effects were minimal.

However, when Cloudy Leaf and Gaze saw this tongue of flame, their expressions changed.

Sakura Memories had stalled for long enough to decisively cast her refreshed Bloodlust. She then used a blink-like skill that she hadn’t used yet to appear near Flowing Wind who was now on low HP.

Flowing Wind was dead!

By the end of the Bloodlust duration, Cloudy Leaf and Gaze were still alive, but they weren’t at full HP anymore.

When they saw the three Ruling Sword players who were still at full HP staring at them, these two persevering players couldn’t do anything but shake their heads and smile. They fought to the end for the dignity of Gale Legion, but this had no effect on the ultimate outcome of the match.

Just before it all ended, Jiu Feng asked the final question.

“Was it the wrong decision to kill Lu Li first? Would they have won if they chose a different target?”

“It’s hard to say what could have happened. Killing Lu Li was one approach, but they hadn’t achieved the goal that they wanted,” Four Seas Dragon said neutrally with a smile.

“Is there any hope left for Gale Legion?” Jiu Feng asked.

“I think it’s over for them.”

Four Seas Dragon watched as Gale Legion’s final player, Cloudy Leaf, was eliminated from the match, before announcing the final result of the competition.

“The score for the individual rounds was 5:3 and the score here was 6:3, which makes the final score 11:6.”

There was a full five-point gap between them. Even if Gale Legion played their best, they would be unlikely to overcome this gap.

When Four Seas Dragon said that it was over, he really meant it. If Gale Legion wanted to win, the next match had to be won with a five-point gap. If they went 5:3 again in the individual rounds, then they would have to not lose a single player against Ruling Sword in the group rounds.

The audience was sorrowful as the glorious moment of Gale Legion working together to kill Lu Li was largely forgotten.

Wendelian, who had been killed a long time ago, wasn’t anxious at all. She had prepared for this moment. Now that all had been decided, it didn’t matter whether it was good or bad. However, Gale Legion’s journey in the first season of the professional league ended here.

In fact, this wasn’t an unexpected result. From the moment they set foot on the plane to fly to Jiangnan City, they already knew this would happen.

As for the question of whether they should have focused Lu Li first, Wendelian would have made the same choice again. The potential for disaster if they left Lu Li alive in the match was just too significant to ignore.

Besides, Wendelian had used hatred towards Lu Li as a means of riling everyone up.

Originally, they were going to fall apart much earlier than this, but the fact that they had made it this far was already beyond her expectations.

Although she could see past this match, not everyone could. Gaze had prepared himself for this outcome, but when the match was going, he still had his hopes up for a miracle. Until this moment, he had truly believed they would pull through.

He used to be like Moonlight and was called the God of War, but had never won a competition.

The next time he stood on this stage, he would fight for victory again, but at least for now, it seemed that he was slightly behind Moonlight.

So far, the top four teams in the league had played against each other. Glory Capitals had not created a big lead on Drizzle Court while Ruling Sword had effectively eliminated their opponent. On the surface, there were three competitors for the championship, but everyone knew that the ultimate battle would be between Ruling Sword and Glory Capital.

As for Drizzle Court, they weren’t able to win with home ground advantage, so there was little chance that they could win in the next match.
