The Golem Mage

Chapter 926: A Little Bloodline Push.

With the crafting of Agnes’ spirit equipment set completed, Alec carefully arranged it in the corner where he had earlier placed the Voidclaw set.

With everything settled and his room back to normal, he finally lay down to rest, slipping back into the amulet world, however this time with clear excitement in his chest, for he now had a new goal in mind:, and that was acquiring his third soul demonic beast to completely put his Devourer Bloodline at the proper number needed for the low rank classification.

However before venturing deeper into the third level of the beast forest, Alec eagerly sorted through his loot.

Like a child unwrapping gifts on Christmas morning, he dove first into the rewards from the two Tier 7 caterpillar demonic beasts.

His haul was remarkable, as he now has a new pair of High Rank Power Crystals and they just happened to be that of Earth Element.

That discovery sparked a thought in him, that perhaps refining the body of every high-rank demonic beast from the beast forest would always yield such a crystal in accordance to the elemental affinity of the beast slain.

For now, at least, Alec chose to believe it true.

Afterward, he turned to devouring the souls of Tier 6 shadow wolves the minion golems had hunted the day before.

Alec had given specific orders to his main golems so they would relay it to their minions in order for them to target the Golden Horn Drakes and Shadow Wolves demonic beast in particular when they hunted in the second level,

All this was because he was aiming to push both soul beasts to the peak of the Tier 6 realm, and his plan worked soon, both had advanced to that point, ready for him to test their power once he morphed with them.

But Alec wasn’t satisfied yet, hungry for more strength, he started sacrificing the souls of demonic beasts he didn’t need, including the two Tier 7 caterpillars he didn’t see a need for presently.

Each sacrifice of the Tier 7 souls earned him a staggering million bloodline points.

With that vast reservoir of points, Alec focused on refining and levelling the skills of his bloodline beasts and reinforcing his own body.

Unlike system points, bloodline points were entirely specialized, versatile in their own way, yet bound strictly to matters of the bloodline.

Like many of the Shadow Wolf’s abilities, most had awakened while it was still in the low ranks.

Though its raw power had grown tremendously, however; its skills had not evolved to match its current realm.

Against weaker foes, this wasn’t a problem, but when facing a truly powerful opponent, such as the Demonic Caterpillar, those techniques provided little advantage.

That was why Alec had seemed so restricted when facing the caterpillar in its Human form , despite his overwhelming power after he merged with the shadow wolf; it was all because his werewolf-derived skills simply couldn’t leave a dent on the Caterpillar’s carapace.

Fortunately, his Energy Eyes and the Bloody Changdao’s second seal allowed him to bridge that power gap.

Still, Alec knew this was only a temporary solution.

Eventually, he would have to face mid- and high-ranked Tier 7 demonic beasts in the beast forest, and when that time came, he feared he would once again lack the firepower needed to truly compete.

Being someone who constantly adapted, Alec began to shift his focus more toward developing his bloodline powers.

When Alec had first learned how to use bloodline points, he had carefully leveled up the mutated parts of his soul beasts, pushing them to Level 5 which he believed was their limit back then.

Now, upon checking their status tabs again, he realized they had advanced to Level 7 entirely on their own, which was the true limit, even without his intervention.

The discovery baffled him, he started to consider several possibilities of how it leveled up on its own; perhaps there had been hidden restrictions on their growth back then, requiring his soul beast to reach mid-rank before advancing further.

Whatever the reason, it confirmed to Alec that his beasts were evolving naturally, in ways even he didn’t yet fully understand.

However, he dismissed the thought when he remembered that back then, the Shadow Wolf had only been in the mid ranks.

Still confused, Alec decided to consult the system spirit, who explained that the option hadn’t appeared earlier simply because Alec hadn’t possessed enough bloodline points to fund the increase in level and because he has been using the skills pretty much they have levelled up on their own.

That answer eased one of the doubts gnawing at him, and with over two million bloodline points now in his possession, Alec wasn’t planning to stop at just upgrading a few mutated parts, he intended to push as much as he can and test the limits of mid-rank mutations, beginning with Zenith’s scales.

He tapped the “Scales” option under the Golden-Horned Drake, and a prompt appeared:

[Scales reached maximum level for Low Rank. Evolve to Mid Rank will cost 50,000 Bloodline Points. (Y/N)]

Without hesitation, Alec pressed “Y.”

Yet Alec wasn’t satisfied. He kept pouring points into the scales until they reached their maximum level, each step costing him fifty thousand bloodline points.

By the time he was finished, Alec had already burned through three hundred and fifty thousand points from his pool of just over two million.

It was then he realized a hard truth, that no matter how vast a fortune of system currency he thought he had, it was never nearly enough.

However, he wasn’t disheartened, if anything, he was more than pleased. At last, he had a clear path forward.

Shifting over to Midnight’s status tab, Alec decided that, given the steep costs, he would only focus on mutating two body parts this time.

After careful thought, he chose the Claws and Fur Hide, pushing them both until they maxed out at Mid Lvl 7.

For Zenith, Alec selected the Tail as the second body part to advance to mid peak.

Afterward, he directed his bloodline points into skills, elevating both Umbral Fangs (Midnight) and Tail Lash (Zenith) into the mid ranks.

Each skill required 100,000 points to evolve, followed by 50,000 points per level until they capped at Mid Lvl 5.

By the end of it, he had spent 1.4 million points on mutated parts and 400,000 points on skills, leaving him with just over 200,000 bloodline points.

What once felt like an overwhelming fortune now looked like pocket change. Still, Alec didn’t sulk; he was content with the progress made.

When he reopened the status tabs of his soul demonic beasts that were tied to his devourer bloodline the results left him grinning.
