The Golem Mage

Chapter 860: Shameless.

Alec now stood tall, with his sculpted abs fully exposed and the lifelike bloodline tattoo across his back pulsing faintly under the Blood red moonlight, both the Fourth and Third Elders found themselves silently staring at it for a long moment.

They knew Alec’s plan was reckless, maybe even insane, but they couldn’t deny the logic behind his words.

What truly worried the Fourth Elder was that Alec’s move would force the other high-rank human mages into the battle fray prematurely, and if any of them fell, the blame would undoubtedly be thrown at the Gordons for dragging them into it.

“You worry too much, brother,” the Third Elder said casually.

“Sometimes, you just need to do what feels right and deal with the consequences later, if this brat’s plan actually works, the battle ends quickly, and we save lives in the long run.”

With that, he summoned his golden golem, which appeared in front of him gripping a gleaming Naginata in its right hand, almost immediately, the golem began to break apart, with its pieces levitating toward the elder and encasing him in segments of golden armour.

In moments, the old man in a simple clan robe transformed into a warlord, his hair tied back in a sharp ponytail, golden light radiating from his frame, as he was the one now gripping the weapon.

Alec glanced over his shoulder, slightly impressed, using his system’s inspect skill, he confirmed that the Third Elder’s golem still hadn’t reached Tier 7, he had planned to help push it to the next level now that he had entered the Tier 6 realm, but the sheer cost of the Evolution Step Model and the required resources that the system required him to pay reminded him that, despite his growing wealth in system points, he wasn’t quite as rich as he thought when it comes to matters concerning high ranks.

With the Third Elder clearly ready to move out with Alec, the Fourth Elder knew he couldn’t stay behind.

Sighing, he summoned a sleek spear from his space ring and gave a resigned nod.

“Since you’re both so ready, …let’s set off.”

Bang!

A loud explosion drew nearly everyone’s attention, as Alec moved first, launching himself into the air at high speed as a purple energy ring burst beneath his feet.

But he wasn’t alone, the Fourth and Third Elders shot up beside him, one on each side, the sudden aerial charge by the Gordons mages was flashy enough to stun the other human forces, until they realized where they were headed.

That made some of them nearly choke on air.

“What the fuck is happening?! Where are you guys going?!” Marcus cursed as he realised where their trajectory was headed, straight toward the high-rank goblins location.

Alec lifted his left hand up a little, while placing his right just inches from the hilt of his Changdao, with a calm and confident smile crossed his face as he closed the distance.

Even the high-rank goblin mages were confused, as they were questioning ‘why were only three human mages charging at them?’

Red, however, was beyond furious.

He didn’t care if the Gordons clan was said to be bold and dangerous, to him, this was pure insult.

He’d already extended his mental probe to assess their realms and confirmed what he needed, and that was the fact that only the two elders flanking Alec were Tier 7, while Alec himself was still in the early stage of Tier 6.

So he was wondering where the brat in the middle was getting the confidence to charge straight at them like this?

“Stop!!” Marcus shouted as he realised they were about to attack, but it was already too late.

Both elders had already launched piercing Qi attacks ahead of them.

And Alec? He hadn’t even drawn his weapon, instead, with a swipe of his right hand, he hurled forward three glowing Tier 6 spell cards, even before they reached their target, they began to spark, lighting up the sky with intense brilliance.

Red narrowed his eyes as he saw attacks coming from all three angles, he snorted, stepped forward, and took his stance—ready to intercept Alec’s strike which was heading from the center himself, leaving the other two to the high-rank goblins behind him.

His hand was soon engulfed in a savage-looking Qi as he pushed forward, but then something completely unexpected happened.

“Explode,” Alec said calmly, raising his index and middle fingers on his right hand in a gesture reminiscent of a shinobi casting ninjutsu, at that same moment, the Third Elder moved in front of him, thrusting out his left hand to conjure a massive earthen sphere that quickly enveloped them all.

The goblins were still clueless about what was happening, until a deafening explosion tore through the sky above them, causing small spatial cracks to ripple outward from the epicenter.

The three random spell cards Alec had sent forward weren’t meant to strike like the normally do, because before launching them he had infused each with a concentrated blast of his blood killing intent, something he had discovered worked,

After using the Inspect Skill on mid-rank random spell cards many times, the analysis had revealed just how versatile the random spell cards could be, beyond the offense and defence forms they took, he had also figured out how they could serve as energy nodes for protection arrays, like those used in the Gordons’ auction hall.

That insight had led Alec to begin experimenting, and he eventually discovered that with the proper savage Qi infusion, the spell cards could be detonated, essentially turning them into floating time bombs.

The only downside: once activated by such savage Qi, they couldn’t distinguish friend from foe, but such a thing wasn’t a problem to Alec who came from a world where grenades are a war tool.

Which was why Alec had warned both the Third and Fourth Elders to keep a safe distance.

He’d planned the detonation with surgical precision.

But Red and the two High-rank Hobgoblins that had stepped forward hadn’t been given the same courtesy, they were not just exposed, they were at the dead center of it all.

Just from the sound, Alec shook his head slightly, waiting to see how effective the sneak attack had been, and when the thunderous echoes finally faded, the massive earth sphere that shielded them now had cracks and the Third Elder retracted it as it crumbled.

Seeing how damaged their defence was, despite being far from the blast left both elders stunned.

If their barrier had nearly failed at this distance, then what had happened to the goblins who took the full brunt of it?

In fact, the entire battlefield seemed to freeze as all eyes turned toward the slowly clearing smoke, each soldier and mage straining to catch a glimpse of the aftermath, eager to see the result of the Gordons’ audacious attack.
