The Golem Mage

Chapter 345: Happy New year in Advance.

” Why the fuck did no one ever tell me that ’code zero’ means to run away in the first place?” Pale exclaimed, his breath heavy as he continued running.

”Don’t tell me you’re that stupid now!, Even if you weren’t informed, would you really want to get caught up in a battle between three mid-rank powerhouses?, we’re just a bunch of Tier 2 mages who would easily be squashed if we tried to interfere in such a battle, Let them fight over who gets to kill Alec while we make our escape,”

Arthur said as Pale caught up with him.

It was at that moment that Pale realized the rest of the group had taken a different route back to the city gates, while Alec had followed another path.

Pale felt as though his life hung by a thread, and he was almost on the verge of crying for help.

He had heard about the great dangers the Gordons clansmen had to face every time they entered the Abyss, but he had overlooked all of that.

His mind had only been clouded by the good news that came with there expenditure success, ignoring the pains behind their campaign.

Now, he finally remembered that he had been fighting alongside Tier 2 mages, and he have even trusted them with his safety which was weird since he was supposed to be the strongest, and they were currently being chased by a confused wave of creatures who couldn’t distinguish their real enemies.

”You’re all fucked up characters!” Kate shouted in frustration, as she tried her best to survive and not die in her first Abyss experience.

”Why are we always being chased after entering the Abyss?, Are we the only ones? That stupid Root won’t let go of his hatred, and the Orc chief seems hell-bent on getting Alec’s head, and Now we even have another deranged Hyena pack after us.”

”Is Alec cursed by bad luck?, We never encounter small troubles; it’s always large hordes of enemies, My fragile heart can’t take it anymore,”

Arthur lamented with a funny facial expression , which made him received a smack on the back of his head from Agnes.

”Less talking, more running, idiot!, Brandon, Knight, slow down the first wave!”

Agnes swiftly issued orders to both Brandon and Knight after scolding Arthur.

As despite being separated from Alec, the sounds of battle from the other side of the forest reassured them that their fight was far from over.

And Their leader was still very much alive and causing chaos, prompting Brandon and Knight to turn back while the rest of the group continued running.

Their aim was to eliminate some of the pursuers, but what they saw when they turned back shocked them.

The orc riders and plant lifeforms were defending themselves against the relentless packs of hyenas, who appeared determined to hunt them down if they continued to chased Alec’s group, but stop when the Orcs and the plant lifeforms stopped, there cunning attitude was shown again.

”Why are the beasts helping us?”

Knight asked, perplexed. Brandon stared at him with a blank expression.

”How am I supposed to know?, It’s a fortunate turn of events for us, anyway, Let’s get the hell out of the Beast King Region and never come back to the Abyss for at least a whole week,”

Brandon said as he turned around and ran, as Knight also disappeared into the shadows.

Meanwhile, Alec had stopped to face the three Tier 4 lifeforms that had been chasing him, only to witness a shocking scene.

The reason none of the attacks launched at him had not hurt him was likely because the Matriarch Hyena had been protecting him.

”Hey, what is he to you?, Why do you keep defending the human and preventing us from killing him? Do you want to start a full-blown war with my plant army ?” the Root questioned angrily.

”What is your game here?, We all want him dead, but you are protecting him,” the Orc chief added, clearly puzzled.

”Even I would like to know the answer to this,” Alec interjected, trying to make sense of the situation.

”Shut up!” the three of them said to him simultaneously, causing Alec to raise his hands in surrender again.

’Why did I even turn back to check?, I should have just kept running, This Abyss is becoming more dangerous every time I dive in. Maybe I should stay away for a while if I survive this, let everything settle down for a while’ Alec thought to himself.

”He is my mate, the one I have chosen, And since you both have evil intentions, I have no other choice but to protect my property,” the Matriarch Hyena declared.

Alec: ”¬”

’How the fuck do you even think of me as a mate?, I thought you were the intelligent one. When did you turn so stupid?’

Alec thought, his face unable to hide his dread at the idea of a demonic beast claiming him as her lover.

”Are you out of your senses?” the Root asked the Matriarch, clearly exasperated with trying to reason with her.

”Of course not. I am fully aware of what I am saying at this very moment. But he is the only male who has ever made me feel the threat of life so vividly, even though he is weaker than me in realm,” the Matriarch explained.

”And he has proven himself worthy of being my mate. I would choose him over any of the useless male hyenas in the savannah packs who might die at any moment in the ongoing war in the Beast King Forest.”

”Then there is nothing more to discuss. Since you have decided to protect him, we will just have to get rid of you too.”

The Orc chief was the first to make a move, his mount dashing towards the Hyena Matriarch at full speed.

However, the hyena swiftly swiped her huge claws, unleashing a burst of claw-like energy in his direction.

But that wasn’t all, Following the claw energy, was several wind blades that materialized, flowing in a formation that resembled an array.

The orc chief, sensing danger, quickly adjusted his stance and changed his weapon style to a defensive one.

He Gripped his huge battle axe in the middle, before he began rotating it, creating a small vortex fueled by force.

The transparent energy of pure force was able to break through the primal energy force manifested by the claw lights.

However, it failed to halt the elemental wind blades.

Which the Matriarch controlled in a way that allowed them to veer away from the orc chief but still inflicted fatal wounds upon his mount.

In the midst of the chaos, the orc chief realized that the first attack had been a mere distraction, designed to divert his attention while the Matriarch Hyena targeted her true objective.

But his realization came too late, as the wind blades had already passed through the wolf’s neck, decapitating it.

”Ahhh!” Thrall shouted in anguish and pain.

”I would never allow any canine life form to fight against me while supporting my enemies. they are to be killed first and now you would face the consequences of going against a Queen of the savannah,”

Declared the Matriarch, her eyes searing with determination as she assessed both the Orc chief and the Root.

”After all, life is a jungle. Why not embrace the chaos?” she continued, her gaze unwavering.

”Do you honestly think you can win?, Your pack of Hyenas may be large in number, but that won’t be enough to stop our army from annihilating the rest of the mages and capturing Alec,” the Root retorted.

”You still underestimate us, It’s not the size of our pack that makes us formidable, but the strength of our unity, We may be scavengers, but we are cunning and resilient. We will endure everything you throw at us until we have the chance to strike back and kill you. It’s in our nature to adapt,”

The Matriarch countered defiantly.

”Enough empty talk. Let’s settle this in battle. The victor shall become the king, while the loser shall be labeled a bandit. Let history write the tale of how it unfolds,”

The orc chief declared, raising his axe high, causing the swirling force energy surrounding him intensified, showing that he was not merely testing the waters, but preparing to engage in a serious fight.
