The Golem Mage

However, no matter how hard it pulled, it eventually couldn’t win against the shadow chains that had gripped tightly onto even its wings and the rest of its body.

By the time it reached a closer distance to Knight, it had already been bound in place and was unable to push any further, Knight could clearly see the fury in the beast’s eyes, its rage burning at its failure to carry out its intentions.

But to Knight, none of that seemed to matter.

His own eyes were cold, so cold it felt like he felt nothing at all staring at the beast, it was as if his entire demeanor had changed after he clad himself in the Voidclaw spirit equipment set. However, the equipment set wasn’t the real reason he was that cold, it was because he could feel extreme power coursing through his veins at this moment, and with that much power inside him, his confidence has surged to a very high level.

He started walking toward the beast, and by the time he reached it, he simply shuffled past like a grey wisp of smoke, his inversely gripped dagger sliding across its throat in one smooth motion.

“Squuuueee!” The firebird let out one last pained cry as it felt itself dying, and at a very slow pace, because Knight had slit its neck in a way that made it bleed out gradually while still enslaved by the shadow chains anchored in midair.

‘This is power!’ Knight thought, as he felt spells that normally took time to cast now waiting at his fingertips, ready to be unleashed in an instant.

It was almost like casting time no longer mattered, and a series of information about his spirit equipment set was being transmitted into his mind, which he was quickly assimilating.

“Ahhh!” Makeda screamed in pain as the firebird finally died and its soul flew back to her. Though it wasn’t permanently dead, however; it would take a while for her bonded beast to recover—and not only that, it would cost her a fortune to bring it back to peak state, even after waiting for it to heal.

She thrust her right hand forward as streaks of fireballs shot toward Knight, and he simply raised his hand and pointed two fingers at her in response, sending shadow balls of similar size flying out to meet the fireballs.

Knight had used just the right amount of mana and force to compress the shadow balls he sent, as the two types of energy clashed in the middle, something different happened—not only were the fireballs engulfed by the shadow balls, but when they exploded, only a muffled sound rang out.

As the shadow balls that had been swallowed by the fireballs burst into a cloud of smoke, covering the whole place and turning it into a perfect shadow ground zone for Pale.

“You won’t be getting rid of me that easily,” she said as she raised her dagger, which was now lit with a blazing flare, her fire element seemed to contain a bit of solar energy—though not strong enough to be as destructive as Ignatius Blaze’s Solar Flame, which was a variant flame, but strong enough to grant her several attributes like healing and an after-burning effect.

She caused a small ball of light to fly up into the air in a bid to light up the area around her so the shadows wouldn’t be able to close in on her, as she believed she was making it almost impossible for Knight to sneak attack in such a situation.

Swishhh!

She began to hear a sound, something cutting through the air at high speed toward her, she swiftly closed her eyes, using her mental energy to pick up the location it was coming from.

A second later, she deflected a small dagger that had been sent toward her, as a resounding clang echoing as the blade was knocked aside into the air.

But that wasn’t the end, she soon heard another sound reaching her, the moment the second small dagger entered the range of her mental sense, she moved again and used her blade to deflect this one too.

All of this happened in under two seconds—showing that Knight must have already shifted to two extreme positions opposite each other and sent a dagger flying at her from each one.
