The Golem Mage

The well-wishers of Alec in the crowd tightly clenched their fists as they watched him , covered in ice, fighting for his life.

They could hardly believe that the mage they had associated with invincibility in their minds had reached such a perilous state, although they initially thought Orion was stronger, having two years of experience ahead of Alec, but now they considered Alec to be superior.

As they believed that Alec’s strength outweighed Orion’s, even if he were to die in this battle, they just couldn’t accept the dirty move he had played in the end.

Just as they feared that Alec’s heartbeat was approaching a critical point, they began to hear another sound—a steady thumping in the air.

Badump! Badump!

At first, they thought they were hallucinating, but the sound of a heartbeat persisted, growing more intense.

As they focused on the ice coffin encasing Alec, they realized that it was melting.

With one side of the ice coffin appeared black, while the other side was completely red, the flames of both colours now engulfed Alec.

”Yahhy! I told you no one could ever defeat Alec Gordons, he will always come back with a miracle!” exclaimed one of the Mage students in the audience, unable to contain his excitement.

Like most first-year students at the War God Mage Academy, he was a devoted fan of Alec.

Alec had become a celebrity figure to them, able to accomplish feats that even their seniors could only dream of achieving in the Abyss.

Although Alec had explored the Abyss fewer times than his seniors , but very few could match the accomplishments he had attained.

And none could claim to have caused a major conflict every time they entered the Abyss, as Alec had, the academy had even considered banning him from visiting the Abyss for a while—a rule that had never been imposed before — this Is just to emphasize the significance they attributed to Alec’s case.

Therefore, when their own idol, whom they believed would emerge victorious, was hit by the frozen coffin, their hearts skipped a beat.

But witnessing Alec’s violent reaction, they all felt a surge of triumph once again, as they could now jeer at the other senior students who had supported Orion.

Bang!

The ice that had imprisoned Alec shattered, scattering in all directions with force.

They looked at Alec’s body, expecting to find injuries, but there was not a single scratch on him, and he wasn’t even wet.

Behind him unfurled a pair of flaming wings—one scorching red and the other composed of black flames.

The entire crowd caught a glimpse of Alec’s upper body, and their eyes were drawn to the wolf tattoo on his chest.

Despite the image of the wolf appearing to be at rest, it conveyed a sense of a living entity, making the onlookers feel as if they were in the presence of another lifeform.

Alec released his aura to its maximum, and at that moment, it was tinged with a primal essence.

Although there was a transparent shield separating him from the crowd, but it did nothing to prevent them from feeling the aura Alec was emitting, the crowd fell silent, sensing the aura of a predator slowly advancing toward its prey.

The instructors, on the other hand, frowned as they observed Alec’s tattoo and flaming wings, they suspected that the wings were what had freed Alec from his icy prison, but they were particularly intrigued by the wolf tattoo on his chest—it was so lifelike and unlike anything they had seen before.

But despite their attempts to inspect it, all they could discern was that it contained a significant amount of stored mana, but they were unable to uncover its deeper secrets.

”Terran is really lucky to have such a talented disciple, I’m sure the little boy had another fortuitous encounter!” The Dean, observing the battle from atop a cloud, offered his compliment.

Meanwhile, old man Alfred grumbled, recalling how someone had assured him that his disciple would not lose to Orion, but he had been so certain that Terran was being delusional, especially after the losses of his previous disciples.

But seeing how Alec continued to unveil new strengths each time he was pushed to the brink, he knew he wouldn’t hear the end of it, as Terran would undoubtedly boast about this event for months to come whenever they went drinking together.

Alec approached the unconscious body of Orion, summoning his blood Changdao, ready to strike down, every student and instructor had resigned themselves to Orion’s impending death, but they had forgotten that Orion’s master was watching.

He was clenching his teeth, his gaze fixed intently on Alec’s raised Changdao.

”Don’t you dare!” His voice boomed, piercing through the shield and causing it to shatter, forcing Alec back a few steps as he used his weapon to steady himself.

The flame wings behind Alec vanished as he looked up and quickly recognized the Great Instructor who had once fought against his master.

”What! You don’t want your disciple to be killed?” Alec laughed mockingly.

”Please, don’t make me laugh, am I supposed to just stand here and let him attack me with the intent to kill without retaliating?” Alec’s gaze met that of Orion’s master, unwavering.

”I don’t care about your little poetry, but no harm must come to my disciple, or you will regret it,” Orion’s master threatened, but this only made matters worse, as Alec never responded well to threats.

He dashed towards Orion’s body, and the confidence on Orion’s master’s face changed in an instant as he teleported directly in front of Alec.

”Die!” Orion’s master exclaimed as he pointed a finger at Alec, sending a fast-moving water bolt towards him.

It all happened so swiftly that none of the instructors could react.

They would never have imagined that he would attack a student, Alec could only open his mouth to curse, but before the attack could hit him, another figure teleported in front of him.

Cloaked in disguise, this person absorbed the brunt of the attack, causing a massive explosion that destroyed half of the arena, yet, the individual who had shielded Alec remained intact, having completely blocked the attack aimed at him.

”You’ve crossed the line!, first by Interfering in a life-and-death battle and secondly attempting to kill a mid-rank student tell me, which of these offenses doesn’t warrant a death sentence under the laws of the Punishment Hall?” Terran declared.

He had been the one disguised to observe Alec death match, but now his disguise had fallen away.

”I would like to see who dares to apprehend me,” retorted Orion’s master with defiance.

”Well, I might not be able to secure a death sentence for you, as I am not my master, but I do hope you can maintain this arrogance when he arrives, for now, I shall punish you for trying to kill my disciple,” Terran stated as he began to take a battle stance, however, before he could act, a cloud began to descend from the sky.

Both Orion’s master and Terran ceased their confrontation and bowed in respect to the new Dean who was descending, accompanied by Elder Alfred.

While Alfred was trying to conceal his face from Terran, hoping that the earlier conversation they had would be forgotten.
