THE GOD EATER

Now that she has acquired the main ingredient to refine a Divine Metac and has even gotten a direction for the refinement, the road to becoming a divine being has opened up for her. Anyone in her situation would also be happy.

Not even the fact that she had to pay a lot of money for killing Greg could put a dent in her happiness. It was a lot of money, though.

The maximum value of the life of a normal rank 3 cultivator is 100,000 energy stones. This value doubles for every level of Dao Status that the rank 3 cultivator possesses.

Greg has a Level 4 Dao Status, so the value of his life increased from 100 thousand to 200 thousand, 400 thousand, and finally 800 thousand energy stones.

He was also a soldier on a grade 3 mission, as the 24 hours of grace that Amelia gave him weren’t over yet, so the value of his life doubled again to 1.6 million and finally to 3.2 million energy stones.

The sect is entitled to 10% of his life, so 320 thousand energy stones must be added to the 3.2 million to make 3.52 million energy stones.

Then he bought grade 4 life insurance, which quadruples the value of his life. This put the total value of his life at 14.08 million energy stones. This is a lot of money to pay for the life of a rank 3 cultivator.

Of these 14.08 million energy stones, only 800 thousand will belong to Greg. That is the value of his life, and it will be deposited into his account, where he will find it there waiting for him in his next life.

As for the remaining 13.28 million energy stones, they will go to the sect. Most of this was from the life insurance, and even though the life insurance failed to save Greg’s life, the sect must still have their money.

If it were any other rank 3 cultivator that had a life value of 14.08 million energy stones, even a rank 5 cultivator would not dare to kill them lightly.

So it can’t be said that life insurance is useless. Greg was just unlucky to be lucky enough to have a mutated Life Ability.

Meanwhile, in Crystal City, the city had finally been freed from its state of emergency. The three rank 5 cultivators encountered a problem in their search for Slav that only they could deal with, so they had to leave.

With the rank 5 cultivators gone, the city could finally resume its activities, and Skarg became free to do whatever he wanted. The first thing that Skarg wanted to do was to go to the initiation grounds to have a talk with the instructor.

He went to the initiation ground and met with Muni. Then he asked Muni for Loki’s whereabouts.

Muni didn’t withhold any information at all. Even without Skarg pressuring him, he said everything that he knew about Loki.

He said, “When he left, he first went to the Central Market. He went there and immediately took a loan of 100 thousand energy stones. Then he used the borrowed energy stones to gamble.”

As he spoke, someone stood beside Skarg and recorded everything he said on paper. Another person used a consumable Metac to record both the audio and video of what was going on.

So it was clear that Skarg was taking everything seriously. So Muni didn’t dare to be lax at all. He treated this investigation as if his life depended on it, which it did.

He told them everything he saw and knew about Loki until the last moment he saw Loki. When he was done, he kept his head down and waited silently for Skarg’s judgment.

Skarg looked at him and asked calmly, “So you’re saying that he seemed to have joined the army?”

Muni nodded enthusiastically and said in reply, “I believe so because I saw a banner on his head that said that he was a member of the sect army.”

For fear of being held responsible for his claims, he quickly said, “But he might have done that to deceive me. He could have easily dropped the mission after I left and gone somewhere else.”

Skarg didn’t mind that he was trying to shirk responsibility. He nodded in understanding and signaled to his son Serge. Then he turned to leave.

Serge saw his father nod to him before leaving, so he knew to toss a bag of money at Muni. Then he left after his father.

Everyone that Skarg brought left without doing anything to Muni. This made Muni sigh in relief and say, “I can’t believe that I am still alive.”

They made the second set of people who had come to question him about the events of the day of awakening. The first set of people had been powerful enough to kill him with a sneeze. Just being around them had caused him to sweat uncontrollably.

As he thought of that period, he shook his head and said, “I still can’t believe it.”

A voice behind him said, “I’m surprised too.”

Before he could look back, a hand dug into his back and came out through his chest, carrying his heart.

Blood gushed out of Muni’s chest and his mouth. He groaned in pain before he fell forward dead. He didn’t see who had killed him.

When he fell to the ground, the person behind him was revealed to be Slav. But Slav was a little different from how he looked a little more than three months ago when he first awakened.

He was still a young man who was barely a teenager. But there was now a glowing mark on his forehead. This glowing mark made all of the blood on his arm look insignificant.

Slav glanced at the body at his feet as he said, “There. No more talking from you from now on, Mr. Loose Lips.”

Then he glanced in the direction that Skarg had gone.
