After Qin Feng hung up the phone, everyone looked over.

Although the phone wasn’t on speaker, the content of the conversation could be vaguely heard.

The distinction between a ”real person” and an ”inflatable doll” during phone calls was no longer a rare occurrence within the detective team.

Only when encountering a body in the water, the police officers in the criminal investigation team would often ask: Is it an inflatable doll?

There was once, indeed, a report of a body found in the water.

Immediately, Qin Feng led the forensic doctors and trace technicians to the riverside.

When the fire department retrieved the body, they discovered it was an inflatable doll.

However, the inflatable doll was dressed somewhat neatly, resembling a human body.

Deputy Director Chen Guan glanced at Qin Feng and asked, ”Has the body been retrieved yet?”

”They are retrieving it now; it should be a real person.”

At this time, Director Hou spoke up, ”If it’s a completely naked woman, we must fully consider whether it might be another missing person—Jiang Shan.”

Once these words were said, everyone was immediately taken aback.

This connection had to be acknowledged. The possibility was significant.

For missing adults, if no body is found, they will continue to be investigated as missing persons.

But if a body is found, then the case becomes a double homicide investigation.

Thinking of this, Deputy Director Chen Guan turned to look at Director Hou, ”Director Hou, I’m afraid the two cases should be directly reported to the provincial bureau.”

”Since you’re here in Guangling, it conveniently spares us the reporting process, equivalent to an early notification.”

Director Hou nodded, his face grave.

Then, Chen Guan looked at everyone and said, ”Since we’ve discovered another body, let’s immediately head to the location where it was found.”

”Today’s meeting, let’s postpone it temporarily and analyze further once we identify the body in the water.”

After saying this, everyone dispersed.

Chen Guan, Director Hou, Jiang An, and Qin Feng led the technicians and investigation team swiftly to the site where the body was found.

The vehicles drove through the night, and after 40 minutes, they finally arrived at a small riverbank.

From a distance, a police car was visible with its lights flashing by the river.

Just one glance was enough to determine that location was where the body was found.

Fortunately, it was nighttime. If it were daytime, it would have undoubtedly attracted many onlookers at the scene.

As some say: If you encounter a body alone in the darkness, it can induce infinite fear;

However, if a crowd encounters a body, perhaps there might be a bit of fascination, with no fear at all.

After getting out of the car, Chen Guan, Director Hou, Jiang An, and Qin Feng walked straight over.

The local police chief, Zhang Feng, came up to them, ”Mr. Chen, Mr. Qin, we’ve already retrieved the body.”

”The deceased was found naked, appearing relatively fresh, indicating they’ve been dead not for long.”

”Regarding the identity of the deceased, we’ve arranged for people in the department to conduct a check.”

”If there’s a result, we will report it immediately.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng waved his hand, saying, ”No need to check the identity.”

Zhang Feng looked surprised, ”No need to check the identity? Do you know who it is?”

Qin Feng nodded, ”Currently, we’re about seventy to eighty percent certain.”

As they spoke, they walked directly to the side of the body.

Qin Feng crouched down. He took out his phone and pulled up a photo of Jiang Shan’s abdomen, crouching to compare it.

The body, having been submerged for some time, showed slight swelling on the face.

After a careful comparison, Qin Feng stood up and nodded, ”It looks quite consistent!”

Deputy Director Chen Guan also took the phone for a quick look.

”Indeed, the facial features seem to match.”

Previously, they speculated Jiang Shan might have been murdered while bathing, and they didn’t have much doubt about this suspicion.

Next, Mr. Chen turned around and asked, ”Who discovered the body?”

Zhang Feng turned and pointed to a man crouching by the riverbank.

The man seemed to still be trembling.

”He was fishing and had just thrown in his bait when he saw the float moving. He thought he’d caught a fish, but it was very heavy during retrieval.”

”At first, he thought it was a big fish, but it turned out to be a body, which almost scared him to death.”

Zhang Feng shrugged, ”Anglers can pull up anything.”

Chen Guan nodded, glancing at the river, ”Is this river always still?”

Zhang Feng replied, ”At this time, the river is calm, with virtually no movement.”

Subsequently, Chen Guan signaled the forensic team and trace examiners to begin examining the body.

This body examination was relatively straightforward, as there were no clothes to examine, only an external check of the body.

Jiang An stood nearby, observing carefully.

He glanced over and initially saw no obvious skin wounds on the deceased’s body.

However, on the deceased’s arms, elbows, and knees, there were visible signs of hemorrhage, likely subcutaneous bleeding caused by contact with a blunt object.

The young forensic doctor crouched down, inspecting as he spoke, ”The deceased’s rigor mortis has not relaxed, and the strength is strong. The time of death exceeds 24 hours but is less than 48 hours.”

”There is minimal subcutaneous bleeding on the deceased’s head, possibly due to blunt force.”

”Both earlobes of the deceased have minor tissue damage and loss, suspected to result from aquatic animals.”

He then continued to examine the deceased’s lips.

”The mucous membrane inside the deceased’s mouth is damaged, and there is localized gingival redness and bleeding. This suggests that there might have been an attempt to smother them before death.”
