The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1844 Fundamental Realization

Karl began the work of deactivating the tower, so it was no longer considered an Immortal Rank magical item, and then began layering the extra runes that he wanted onto the stones of the tower, adding the extra functions to study and create mental puzzles.

Those were all fairly simple additions, as they were just changes to the options for the existing trials within the towers, and the change was as much about intent as it was about the actual runes.

But that was where things could get tricky.

If Rue didnʼt fully understand what Karl was trying to do with the tower, then there was a good chance that her upgrade attempt would fail, or she would only manage to upgrade a portion of the trial.

Though, even if she just upgraded the combat trials, that would likely be enough, as they were the only ones that involved dealing damage.

Rue watched as Karl upgraded the tower, and then read the System message that he sent her, detailing the changes that he was making so that he didnʼt have to explain it out loud for everyone to hear.

Keeping some things to themselves was better.

If the Avatar was going to watch everything so that he could pass it on to his own people, they would make him guess about some of the aspects. It might actually be better, as it would lead to innovation, and the Demigods of his Clan would certainly have at least a few unique ideas about how a trial tower should work.

And if they had new ideas about how it should work, then Karl could use those ideas the next time that he made a tower after seeing them.

He knew his own limitations in the realms of creativity. He wouldnʼt presume that he had more unique and effective ideas than everyone else combined. Far from it.

In fact, it appeared that he wasnʼt even going to be considered the most innovative in this branch of the Guild, as Cara and Rue were conferring about changes to make to the Tower as it was improved to the Supreme Rank.

They were trying to hide their conversations, but Cara wasnʼt that good at hiding her thoughts when she was talking to other people, and Karl suspected that she was keeping them open so that she could get additional input from Rae on the topic of trial alterations.

They had both helped with the original building of the tower, but now they had more ideas about what could be added to it, and little things that could be changed to make the trials more exciting, since they were rebuilding it anyhow.

Karl had made the basic changes to the runes, as he had done the first set, and understood them best.

But Rue would be the one that made the finalized version, as she was the one at Supreme Rank, so her vision would be the one that created the finalized trial.

And while Karl had many great ideas about trials, Rue had spent thousands of years at war in the Immortal Realms, and her knowledge of battle tactics was far superior to what anyone else in the group possessed.

With that extra experience, she could make trials that would test the group in all new ways, forcing them to think in new ways, and making the upper levels difficult on a level that was completely unrelated to the actual targets.

Scenarios that were designed to be similar to the most effective traps she had experienced or learned about where trial targets had complementary abilities that could overlap into something unexpected, or use terrain in unexpected ways, would make the entire experience far more realistic.

The tower would no longer be a simple test of power, but also of intelligence, adaptability, tactics, and versatility.

Not every class would even be capable of reaching the top levels anymore, no matter how overpowered they were in theory. If they didnʼt have the range of skills to overcome the worst things that Rue and her faction had survived, they wouldnʼt ever pass.

And then there were the puzzles.

Karl had implemented many great ones that would help with comprehension, but Rue had learned in a different way, so they would have two different sets of training scenarios, as well as a wider variety of challenges for everyone to work through.

It would be great if they could con the Avatar into adding his vast knowledge of progression to the tower, but that seemed like far too much to ask of someone who actually been sent to keep them from doing weird things that would lead the dragons astray.

Put that way, this was likely one of those things, but Rue was a dragon as well, so it might not count.

Everyone watched as Cara gestured wildly, trying to explain a concept that simply shouldnʼt exist in this reality, while Rue laughed and made counterpoints. She was a Void Dragon, and while it wasnʼt fully Chaos aligned, she did understand enough that she seemed to grasp the basics of what Cara wanted.

That was more than what Karl would have expected of most people, and he was looking forward to seeing what they came up with for the tower.

After half an hour of channelling mana, making small alterations to the runes, and adding a few new connected clauses, Rue was ready to finalize the new tower.

All that she needed was power.

”There are Mana Stones all around the main building. Theyʼre mostly for the residents to train and recover, but you can use them freely. Theyʼll recover on their own, given time. Just donʼt deplete them to nothing, and everything will run smoothly.

I made enough of them that they regenerate more than the world passively uses.” Karl explained.

The Avatar turned toward the Guild House replica in shock. He had felt the mana repository, but he hadnʼt realized that it was all mana stones that Karl had created. He had assumed that it was a Divine Treasure.

And with that realization came a secondary realization.

Divine Beings radiated Divine Power with every breath. Power that was being absorbed into the Tiny World because thatʼs what this world was designed to do by an Immortal who had mastered Mana Manipulation on the level of the Fundamental Rules.

And that would change everything for the residents of the Tiny World if he stayed here doing his job for much longer.
