The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1628 Return For Refund

Karl smiled at the cat, and fluffed his ears.

”You know that you have to get along with her, right? She controls the food.”

The Moor Cat kitten gave the Elder a suspicious look. Surely, she wouldnʼt withhold the food? He thought that they had an understanding.

She did look pretty serious, though.

Reluctantly, the cat pulled the two boys back out of the Villa, leaving them confused and holding pencils.

”See, they were studying.” Karl noted.

”Hi! Where are we? Did you know that Anilla got a whole house with her new class?” One of the boys asked.

”Indeed, I did. I was there when she got it. Is it a pretty cool house?” Karl asked. The Elder smiled at his oblivious act. Obviously, he knew what it looked like, he made it. But the boys were excitedly telling him all about the place, and how it had everything that they needed, as long as they brought their own schoolbooks and snacks.

”You know, if I had known that it was that easy to get them back out, I would have done it myself.”

Karl winked at her. ”Itʼs all about leverage. You have to understand your counterpart if youʼre going to negotiate the release of hostages.

Even if theyʼre school children hiding from their mother so they can snack without getting caught.

There is a food creation nature magic spell in the kitchen of the villa.”

The kidsʼ eyes lit up as they received that information. They didnʼt know how to cook, so they hadnʼt gone into the kitchen. But if it could make snacks for them, they would go and try.

Even if it made popcorn and peanuts. Or caramel popcorn. That would be great. Even mixed nuts and a fruit platter was a great snack. They should be able to get the spell to make that.

”Youʼre doing that on purpose.” The Elder stated in a flat tone.

”One hundred percent, yes. Just be glad that they donʼt have Mystic Cooking, or they might become impossible to drag back out into the real world for dinner.

I suppose that there should be an amendment to the arrangement that you have with Shade. It appears that feeding him was definitely part of the deal, but letting you into the separate space for Anilla was not detailed.”

The Elder stared at the chubby little beast.

”I canʼt believe that Iʼm negotiating with a furry toddler.”

Karl chuckled at her annoyance. ”That will happen far more in life than you might expect. At least, it will when you have a ranger in the family, even if sheʼs an advanced ranger class.

How about this, I will explain things, and see what it will take to make our furry friend behave.”

{She canʼt have my Anilla back. Sheʼs mine, I licked her.}

”I think that rule only works with food.”

The cat looked confused, while the two boys began to laugh.

”He just said something about licking the food to claim it, didnʼt he?” One of them asked.

Karl nodded. ”Shade is of the opinion that it is a universal rule.”

The Elder smiled as she looked down at the cat. ”I will have you know that I licked her first, so Iʼve got first claim.”

Shade sighed and brought Anilla out of the Villa, startling the girl, who still had half a watermelon and a spoon in her hands.

The Elder gave her an unimpressed look, and the little Elf promptly vanished back into the Villa as her brothers began to laugh.

”Oh, she is in soo much trouble.”

”I donʼt suppose that there is a way to get into that space to collect her?”

”You could ask Shade, as the stone is bonded to him. But other than that, you would need to break the barrier over the space and collapse it to kick her out. That could be an issue, as I donʼt know if it would break the item.”

”Alright, I will come to an agreement with the cat, as well as with my daughter, who should already know that there are repercussions for skipping dinner to eat watermelon in hiding”

Shade made what Karl took as feline laughter, and Anilla came back out, now without the watermelon, and with her hands and face freshly washed.

”Mother, itʼs a surprise to see you so early. I thought that we werenʼt training together until after dark.”

”That was before you went to hide in a separate space with your brothers when dinner was ready. You might not have needed to be anywhere until dark, but they did have tasks to finish, and you were all expected to be on time for

dinner, even if you had a Moor Cat to lock the door for you.”

Karl could see that the little Elf was doing her best to come up with an excuse

for about five seconds before giving up.

”Sorry, Mother. We will be sure to return on time.”

”And?”

”And I will send you a System Message to let you know where I will be?” Anilla

tried.

Her mother gave her a stern look for a few more seconds, and then relented.

”Alright, everyone back to the house, and apologize for making Mister Karl take

time out of his day to get you out of the Villa.”

Anilla didnʼt turn to Karl, she looked at Shade, who gave her a smug smile.

The cat had definitely locked her mom out.

”Sorry, I was just excited to show off my new class and the Villa.”

Karl patted her on the head. ”Itʼs not a problem, just a miscommunication because your Mother canʼt understand Shade, so she canʼt speak to him

properly.”

Anilla nodded. ”She comes from another world, just like you do. But her System is different, and she doesnʼt get all the same features.”

”In that case, make sure that you can send her System Messages before you leave. If you canʼt, I will make an item to allow you to message each other.”

”Message, message, where is ... OH, thatʼs a lot of messages.

A LOT of messages.”

The Elder smiled as her daughter panicked. She had sent dozens of messages, but the kids all had their notifications off, and hadnʼt bothered to check them, even when it was getting close to dinner.

Anilla might have some excuse, as it was her first day. But the boys did not.
