“If you’re in trouble, perhaps I can help you,” Gu Qingheng’s lips curved slightly, “For instance, we have a kitchen here.”

Yang Ruxin’s eyes suddenly lit up, but she ultimately shook her head, “Let’s forget it, I…”

“You’ve helped me, so consider it as me returning the favor,” Gu Qingheng interrupted Yang Ruxin, “Lady Dani doesn’t need to be polite.”

“What did I even do?” Yang Ruxin said somewhat bashfully as she scratched her head.

“It was you who scolded me awake, you made me give up the thought of suicide…”

“What?” Feng Family became nervous upon hearing this, “Qing…

Qingheng, you…” No wonder Qingheng was filthy when Ayao had brought him back before, it turned out that…

“Mother, I’m sorry, I won’t do it again,” Gu Qingheng smiled, “It was Lady Dani who scolded me awake before I tried to jump into the river.

She was right, I may be blind, but my heart isn’t; my leg may be crippled, but I still have my hands…”

“Big brother…” Gu Yao felt his nose turn sour.

“Qingheng, you really can’t do such foolish things, you…” Tears fell from the Feng Family’s eyes.

“Mother, I’ve said I won’t do it again, I’ll pull myself together.

Otherwise, I’d be letting you and Ayao down,” Gu Qingheng patted the back of Feng Family’s hand that rested on his shoulder.

“Alright…” Feng Family quickly wiped away her tears.

“So Lady Dani is my lifesaver,” Gu Qingheng smiled again.

Yang Ruxin suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.

She had merely found his cowardly behavior intolerable before, yet had unexpectedly saved a young man from ruin.

“Lady Dani, let’s not stand on ceremony.

You saved Qingheng, so from now on you’re a benefactor to our family…” Feng Family sighed, any prejudice she had against Yang Ruxin vanished in an instant; in her heart, anyone who was good to the young master was a benefactor, “Just say if there’s anything we can help with, as long as we can assist…”

“You’re making me feel embarrassed with all this,” Yang Ruxin tugged at the corner of her mouth, “But I won’t be falsely modest, either.

I was thinking of boiling these two eggs…”

The Feng Family was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and took the eggs, “Just wait, it’ll be done quickly.”

“I can help you…”

“No need, just talk with Qingheng over there,” the Feng Family waved Yang Ruxin away, then glanced at Gu Yao, “Ayao, come stuff the firewood…” She walked to the door and then paused, “Lady Dani, there’s water over there if you want to wash your face.”

Yang Ruxin blinked, looked down at her grimy hands, knew her face couldn’t be much cleaner, and nodded, “Thank you.” Then she really went over, scooped up a basin of water, and began to wash.

Gu Yao originally didn’t want to go, but seeing the Feng Family’s look, he had no choice but to follow her into the kitchen, “Mother, why do you want Yang Dani alone with big brother?

She…”

“Are you silly?” Feng Family gave Gu Yao a withering look, “The young master clearly feels much better when he’s with that Yang Dani.

As long as the young master is happy, anything goes.

You being there is just in the way.”

“Mother, Yang Dani isn’t worthy of the young master,” Gu Yao pouted.

“Whether she’s worthy or not isn’t for us to decide,” the Feng Family sighed, “Think about it, since the accident, how many words has the young master spoken to anyone?

Who has he smiled at?

But just now, the young master was grinning from ear to ear talking to that Yang Dani…” saying this, she sighed again, “Ayao, don’t forget, now we’re just peasants in this mountain village, and if the young master can have someone understanding and caring by his side, that would also be good…”
