The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Free Admission Is an Investment

”I know a bit about your situation. Teacher Liu mentioned you to me before!”

”Like him, I’m someone who treasures talent!”

”Your talent in Martial Arts is worthy of free admission. Of course, I don’t have the final say at the Martial Arts Hall—I’ll need to submit an application—but I don’t think it’ll be a problem!”

”The main thing now is you. If you’re willing, I’ll go ahead and apply to the hall for you...”

Yang Yong quickly added with a smile.

If he could train at the Martial Arts Hall for free, Lin Yi was naturally willing.

With his current Qi and Blood value and his Martial Arts Realm...

In three months’ time, spending his days immersed in the Martial Arts Hall.

And going out Demon Hunting at night.

Breaking through to the 2-star realm would be absolutely no problem.

In fact, Lin Yi might even be able to make a push for 3-star.

’If I can raise my Martial Arts Realm to 3-star before the martial arts exam...’

’I might even be able to skip the exam entirely.’

He could freely choose any Martial Arts University in the New District.

This was more than just good talent, more than just being a Martial Arts genius.

It was monstrous.

Reaching the 3-star Martial Arts Realm as a third-year high school student?

Even those known as the chosen ones wouldn’t dare to dream of it.

Lin Yi had no reason to refuse.

”If the Martial Arts Hall is really willing to let me enroll for free, then I’m willing!”

Lin Yi replied, his gaze firm.

Receiving his answer, Yang Yong smiled and nodded.

”Good, your agreement is all I need. Leave the rest to me...”

”Coach Yang!”

Just as he finished speaking, Lin Yi quickly interjected.

”I’ve always believed there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Even if my talent is good and my future looks bright...”

”You and the Martial Arts Hall wouldn’t let me enroll for free so easily, would you?”

”Are there some other requirements? It’s better to be clear about them upfront!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Yang Yong was slightly taken aback.

He hadn’t expected the student sitting before him to be so cautious.

If it had been anyone else Lin Yi’s age...

...being able to train at the Martial Arts Hall without spending a single cent, they probably would have been too overjoyed to think about such things.

But, although there was a smile on Lin Yi’s face...

...he hadn’t lost himself like others his age.

Instead, there was a hint of vigilance in his eyes.

In response to Lin Yi’s question, Yang Yong chuckled and said, ”You’re right, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Letting you enroll for free is naturally not that simple!”

”Personally, just like Teacher Liu, it’s purely because I treasure talent!”

”None of us want to see an exceptionally talented student like you get buried.”

”Life in the Old District is already hard enough. We naturally hope for more exceptionally gifted Martial Artists to emerge, to clean out those demonic beasts sooner, and to finally break down the barrier between the New District and the Old District!”

”Of course, this is all just speaking from personal sentiment!”

”Secondly, for the Martial Arts Hall, it’s a form of investment!”

”An investment?”

Lin Yi asked, puzzled.

Yang Yong nodded lightly. ”That’s right, an investment!”

”Have you heard of the Martial Arts Alliance?”

”The Martial Arts Alliance? I haven’t heard of it!” Lin Yi shook his head.

He had indeed never heard of the Martial Arts Alliance.

It wasn’t just him; no one around him had ever mentioned anything about the Martial Arts Alliance.

Yet, Yang Yong wasn’t surprised by his answer at all.

Instead, he smiled and nodded. ”The Martial Arts Alliance is headquartered in the New District and governs all the Martial Artists in the entire country!”

”Whether it’s Martial Arts Halls, Martial Arts Schools, or Martial Arts Universities, they are all under the unified management of the Martial Arts Alliance!”

”In other words, if you can get into a Martial Arts University in the future, a record will be filed for you with the Martial Arts Alliance!”

”Your school will receive benefits, and our Martial Arts Hall will receive benefits as well!”

”As for what those benefits are, I can’t tell you!”

”So, this is, of course, an investment in you—an investment that qualifies as an equal exchange!”

”As long as you can successfully get into a Martial Arts University, the Martial Arts Hall will get its return!”

After a long moment, Lin Yi finally nodded.

The doubts in his heart were more or less resolved.

”Coach Yang, I understand now. I’ll go back out and continue sparring with them!”

With that, Lin Yi stood up.

Yang Yong smiled, nodded, and continued to reassure him, ”Coming to the Martial Arts Hall for free has no downsides for you.”

”And you can rest assured that the Martial Arts Hall won’t do anything to put you in a difficult position or harm you!”

”Yes, I know!”

Lin Yi nodded and walked out of the office.

And just as he closed the door...

...the smile on Yang Yong’s face gradually vanished.

He turned his head, his gaze falling on the painting hanging behind him, and fell into deep thought.

It wasn’t a painting he had intentionally hung there.

Rather, it had been hanging there ever since he first came to this office.

And yet, over all these years...

...plenty of students had come to his office.

But the only one who had truly been able to connect with the painting was Lin Yi.

Not even Zhou Qi could do it.

It was clear just how terrifying Lin Yi’s talent was.

Especially when he had just returned from outside.

He had noticed two kinds of light beams coiling around Lin Yi.

One was blood-red, the other was golden runes.

The two seemed to be clashing violently around Lin Yi’s body.

’This has never happened before.’

’What exactly are those golden runes on Lin Yi?’

Yang Yong’s brow furrowed tightly.

He stared at the painting for a long time, but like everyone else, he was unable to connect with it the way Lin Yi had.

’Sigh, I guess I just don’t have that fateful connection!’

After a long while, Yang Yong sighed and shook his head.

He pulled his gaze away from the painting.

He stood up, left the office, and headed for the training ground.

...

A full day of sparring work came to an end.

The afternoon’s practice matches were comparatively much more relaxed.

The students sparring with Lin Yi were all well-behaved; no one was intentionally targeting him.

Therefore, Lin Yi simply fulfilled his duties.

He didn’t end the matches too quickly.

Instead, he would allow his opponents to expose their own weaknesses during the match.

This allowed Yang Yong to correct them.

Even Sun Tao and Hu Quan got back on the platform for a second practice match with Lin Yi.

This time, they were calm and composed, asking Lin Yi to help point out all their weaknesses.

And Yang Yong would then provide timely corrections.

It went on like this until Lin Yi had spent a full ten hours at the Martial Arts Hall.

After collecting his hard-earned money...

Yang Yong said with a smile, ”Go home and get some rest. Come in early tomorrow.”

”Did you see the news today? It’s not safe outside. Try not to go out alone at night!”

Lin Yi nodded. ”Okay, Coach Yang. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back now!”

He then went to the locker room, changed into his own clothes, and left the Martial Arts Hall.
