The Eldritch Files

Song Chushi stared at the person who had popped out of nowhere. He looked at the brilliantly colored, almost dazzling Crystal Skull in the person’s hands, completely stunned for a moment.

’Who was that guy?’

’Why was the crucial Crystal Skull in his hands?’

But his mind raced, countless thoughts flashing by, leaving no time to dwell on them. He immediately shouted, ”Quick, give it to him!”

The next moment, he turned and yelled at Han Su, ”Don’t you dare go soft on her! This is your only chance to deal with her...”

”That’s...”

Lu Neng’s appearance, along with Song Chushi’s anxious warning, immediately made Han Su’s heart clench.

’Is this some special weapon meant for this woman?’

He hadn’t expected Lu Neng to suddenly show up here, holding a Crystal Skull that even Song Chushi was extremely concerned about. When they were first rallying their companions, they hadn’t been able to find the guy at all.

But his feelings about Lu Neng had always been unique, ever since their time in the Ancient Castle. The guy always gave off an unreliable yet paradoxically trustworthy vibe.

He was unreliable because he didn’t always do as he was told.

He was trustworthy because his methods were unorthodox but shockingly effective, often producing amazing results.

This was what made him special, something he’d never seen in anyone else.

”Sigh!”

Hearing Song Chushi’s shout and sensing the urgency in his voice, Lu Neng let out a heavy sigh.

’Do I have it easy?’

’I snuck over here early on. Seeing how bizarre and mysterious that Abyssal Studio was, I didn’t hesitate to slip inside while they weren’t looking. After picking through their stuff, it seemed like the Crystal Skull, cherished by the woman who looked like the boss, had to be the most valuable thing, right?’

’After all, I saw her from a distance, standing reluctantly at the entrance of the Abyssal Laboratory, looking like she couldn’t bear to let the thing go.’

’I was going to just grab it and leave without a sound, but I didn’t expect that tough-looking guy and my buddy from the Ancient Castle to be getting beaten so badly.’

’Felt a pang of pain, like I was carving off my own flesh, but the bigger picture was more important. So, I stamped my foot and tossed this Crystal Skull over.’

”You...”

The tall, slender woman, who had been caught in a state of immense confusion, saw the Crystal Skull, and her expression changed drastically in an instant.

She subconsciously retreated, simultaneously raising a hand to give a sharp command.

The endless mass of humanoid flesh, spurred on by her will, surged madly toward the Crystal Skull.

But unexpectedly, the guy’s motion of putting all his strength into throwing the Crystal Skull upward was just a feint.

The Crystal Skull left his hand by only a few dozen centimeters before he suddenly pulled it back. The humanoid flesh figures all leaped up, but having faked them out, he vaulted over an abandoned vehicle and darted straight through from under the feet of the clumsy, wooden creatures.

Countless humanoid flesh figures reached out their arms to grab him, but his movements were far too agile.

He dodged left, then darted right. The humanoid figures got in each other’s way, tangling into a chaotic mess, which allowed him to close the distance rapidly.

”Get him.”

The tall, slender woman seemed to fear the Crystal Skull’s approach. She spoke in an urgent, unusually hoarse voice.

The moment she spoke, the countless humanoid figures instantly lost their human shape, their flesh melting and piling together into one mass.

While they retained their human forms, they could squeeze and obstruct one another, but merged into one, they became like a towering wall of flesh.

But what was even stranger was that when this great wave of flesh rolled past, the guy had completely vanished.

”Where is he?”

In that instant, everyone present held their breath, desperately searching for any sign of him.

The members of the scalpel team beside the tall, slender woman even unleashed a crystalline light from their eye sockets, scanning the surroundings. They assumed the guy had used some kind of Mysterious Power of Invisibility or concealing his presence amidst the chaos.

Only Han Su felt a sudden jolt. He thought of that thieving monkey’s knack for appearing and disappearing like a ghost and subconsciously glanced behind him.

CLANG.

The very moment Han Su’s gaze swept behind him, a manhole cover not far away was suddenly thrown open.

Lu Neng stuck his head out, holding the Crystal Skull, and hurled it forward with all his might.

”Here it comes...”

Han Su charged recklessly toward him—or rather, toward the rapidly approaching Crystal Skull.

This was probably their only chance.

Han Su held nothing back. He activated his Spiritual Activity and Divine Material without reservation, his body leaving an afterimage in the air. He had never been this tense in his life, nor had he ever faced such danger.

All of his focus was on the Crystal Skull; he couldn’t afford the slightest mistake. In the past, only the time he’d fought for the key in the Ancient Castle had been more nerve-wracking.

As he ran, the copper-colored blood from the box began to seep out. He was ready to fight her to the death the moment she tried to contest it.

But that didn’t happen. His figure was a blur of motion, and he finally snatched the Crystal Skull into his hand.

Meanwhile, the tall, slender woman, at this most critical juncture, seemed to slow down.

A look of terror flashed through her eyes, a crystalline glint vanishing as quickly as it appeared.

SWISH!

Han Su grasped the Crystal Skull and immediately spun around, aiming it at the distant tall, slender woman.

HUM!

He clearly sensed a Mysterious Power automatically activating from within the Crystal Skull, faintly resonating with the tall, slender woman.

Han Su was thrilled. The Crystal Skull truly worked on her, and its effect was some kind of mysterious one.
