The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 698: Chapter 697: Blood Pearl

The three women in red were caught off guard and jumped in fright, hastily dodging to avoid the soup from splashing onto them.

Their expressions changed immediately. Ever since they became one of the Four Beauties by Huangfu Yuxuan’s side, they had been outstanding in ability, ruthless, and strikingly attractive, earning Huangfu Yu’s favor. They were only employed for important matters and held a higher status than other Hidden Guards.

Being sent to take care of a woman this time felt like an unfair assignment to them.

However, they were clear about their own status and understood that in front of the young master, their opinions were not important. They just needed to obey his orders; that was their duty.

But obedience aside, being treated like this by a woman who was neither a renowned lady from the Capital City, had no martial skills, nor any merits other than being beautiful was virtually no different from a direct insult.

Xia Wenjin’s actions sparked a murderous glint in their eyes. They were all proud individuals who couldn’t tolerate such humiliation. With a swift motion, Hong Yi reached around her waist and drew a sharp, thin-bladed short knife, thrusting it towards Xia Wenjin.

Xia Wenjin sat in the seat of honor, her gaze indifferent, entirely unperturbed by the gleam of the flashing blade.

The blade was dazzling, but Luo Xiu and Zi Shou exclaimed in shock: ”Stop!” ”Don’t act rashly!”

Hong Yi came to her senses in her rage. This was the person the young master had them watch over. If she impulsively killed her, she wouldn’t survive either.

Thinking of the punishment the young master might dish out in his fury, Hong Yi’s hand weakened, and she didn’t dare actually thrust the knife down.

However, she acted too quickly, and by the time she reacted, the short knife was already within a hair’s breadth of Xia Wenjin’s neck.

Xia Wenjin’s neck, with its jade-like smooth skin, had a bright short knife near it, with even a bead of blood hanging from the knife’s tip.

Hong Yi, too, was a proud woman, intentionally wanting to give Xia Wenjin a show of power, and her hand remained steadily in place.

Someone captured by the young master, neither a renowned lady from the Capital City nor a simple beauty.

People unaccustomed to the world, facing blades and death, let’s see if she can keep being so arrogant.

Sharing the same thoughts as Hong Yi, neither Luo Xiu nor Zi Shou moved.

They wanted to see Xia Wenjin’s panicked expression, to see her pleading fearfully under the flashing blade. With this one show of power, she’d behave from then on, making their lives easier!

Yet, the anticipated screams and exclamations didn’t occur. Despite the short knife grazing her neck and even a small injury, though the blood bead was only the size of a green bean, it hurt nonetheless.

But the girl in front, not even a strand of her hair moved.

Her lips curved into a mocking smile, her tone even carrying a hint of provocation: ”Didn’t eat? Can’t even kill someone?”

The three women in red: ”...”

They could kill, more than that; each had more than a dozen lives at their hands!

However, faced with Xia Wenjin’s provocation, they had to swallow their anger.

Xia Wenjin calmly said: ”Around your young master, are there only cowards like you who bully the weak? You don’t even dare to kill a defenseless woman. Pathetic!”

Hong Yi’s grip tightened, veins almost popping out.

Zi Shou’s eyes darted, reaching out her fair hand to gently push Hong Yi’s hand aside, smiling: ”Don’t get mad, it’s just a table overturned, isn’t it? The manor lacks nothing. If the lady doesn’t like this table, we’ll just replace it.”

Luo Xiu also said: ”Yes, yes, yes, if breakfast is gone, it’s gone. We’ll just have the kitchen make more. Can’t let the young lady go hungry!”

As they spoke, they gave Hong Yi meaningful glances.

This woman spoke with such confidence, fearlessly, whether it was because she had a trump card or wasn’t afraid to die. Regardless, they couldn’t really act.

No need for glances, Hong Yi was eager to find a way out too.

Hong Yi sheathed her short knife, the bead of blood still on Xia Wenjin’s neck, like a red pearl on white snow, extremely striking.

Xia Wenjin coldly chuckled: ”Since you don’t dare to kill, stop wasting words. I’m hungry!”

”You...” Zi Shou grabbed Hong Yi, smiling: ”Please wait a moment, young lady, we’ll have the kitchen redo it right away!”

Xia Wenjin said: ”Hurry up then!”

This command was even more authoritative, highhanded and domineering.

Zi Shou and Luo Xiu agreed in unison, quickly pulling Hong Yi out the door. As they left, Zi Shou glanced at the two startled maids, frowning: ”Still not cleaning up?”

The two maids, as if waking from a dream, hurriedly cleaned the broken bowls and shattered dishes off the floor.

Truly well-trained, in no time, the floor was spotless, and they had even brought in a new rosewood table.

The maid in green timidly asked: ”Lady... do you have any orders?”

Xia Wenjin felt as though her body was still stained with the drug powder, somewhat uncomfortable, but bathing here was certainly not possible. She said: ”Bring water so I can wash up!”

Overturning the table wasn’t because she was difficult to serve, but because these were Huangfu Yuxuan’s people, facing the Four Beauties, thinking of the bloodshed on their hands, she was unreserved with them!

What does it mean to be kept here?

No matter what Huangfu Yuxuan intends, it can only be determined face to face.

By making it hard to serve her here, the Four Beauties would surely report back to Huangfu Yuxuan, and when he came, she could know exactly what his plans were!

She was a bit worried, remembering how Gu Heng chased after when she was taken by Pu Yangji.

Who knows how Gu Heng is doing.

Now in this Fengming Manor, she saw neither Huangfu Yuxuan nor Pu Yangji, just a few maids.

Of course, seeing the Four Beauties that Huangfu Yuxuan treasured was itself a signal.

Huangfu Yuxuan shouldn’t regard her highly, yet dispatching the Four Beauties seemed to overturn her previous deductions. It’s a pity she hadn’t been able to pry a gap from Gongyang Puyu, perhaps because of that old mystic’s influence, causing Huangfu Yuxuan to refuse letting her go.

She had thought that Huangfu Yuxuan wouldn’t let go of Haotian Village.

The appearance of the Four Beauties made her realize, probably in Huangfu Yuxuan’s heart, she was held above Haotian Village.

Which wasn’t a good sign, especially not knowing the reason behind all this.

After washing up, they didn’t keep her waiting long before the three women in red reappeared with trays.

Xia Wenjin still sat in the seat of honor, proud as ever, looking sideways at them, coldly commanding: ”Serve this lady her meal!”

Hong Yi nearly exploded in anger again, but Luo Xiu and Zi Shou pulled her back, smiling as they said: ”Yes, young lady, we will serve you right away!”

Though they smiled, they spoke through gritted teeth.

Clearly, they were bottling up a lot of anger against Xia Wenjin’s dominance.

Xia Wenjin didn’t care; since they were Huangfu Yuxuan’s people, they could hold it in.

She wouldn’t even give Huangfu Yuxuan a good face, let alone his minions?
