The dragon's harem

Diana helped the pseudo-demon-lord stand and looked at her with a smile. “You won’t be dying today. In fact, we came here to find a way to turn you into a full-fledged demon lord.”

“What?” She expected this to be her last day, but as it turned out, it wasn’t.

Kali looked at her for a second. “Basically, if Arad said you’ll be the demon lord of this layer, you’re going to become it.” Kali wasn’t going to explain how Arad’s will as AO was going to break the abyss’s back if his wish didn’t come true, but she still made it clear that what he wanted would happen.

They walked toward the throne, where Kali pointed and asked Arad to sit on it. As he did, she sat at his feet and ordered the other two to do the same. This alone had caused the pseudo-demon-lord to start shaking.

The throne of a demon lord is the symbol of their status and power. This entire hall represented that. When inside this place, the demon with the highest power and authority sits on it.

If the pseudo-demon-lord were here with regular demons, she would sit on the throne, and they would kneel to her. If she asked them to kill themselves, they would do it and thank her for the order; that was the level of power granted to whoever sits on the throne over everyone else who doesn’t.

If she were on the throne and another demon lord showed up, she would yield the throne to them, and that demon lord would yield to an angel of destruction like Diana, and above all, Kali herself. The Demon Goddess of Destruction stands above them all.

So why is she now sitting on the ground at Arad’s feet, with the Demon Goddess of Destruction herself and an Archon of Destruction?

Arad leaned on Arad’s leg and looked at the pseudo-demon-lord.

“You understand what this means, right? His words reign above all, so make sure to keep that in mind.” Kali then lifted a hand and showed the pseudo-demon-lord a few fingers.

“First, you can stay here as a pseudo-demon-lord and keep trying to evolve on your own.” She smiled and lifted another finger, “You can die, and I’ll turn you into an angel of destruction so you can try to get stronger that way.” She reached and grabbed the pseudo-demon-lord by the neck. “I can kill you right now if you want.”

She let her go and then kept listing all of her options. “We can get the pale night, the mother of all demons, to birth you into a new body with new potential. But it is already rare for a demon to be born with enough potential to become a pseudo-demon-lord…” She sighed. “You might need to have her birth you a few hundred times before you’ll get lucky with a decent body.”

Diana cut them. “The last options are the only good ones.” She looked at the pseudo-demon-lord, “Drink Kali’s blood to become stronger, but that’s a painful process. Have Arad turn you into a vampire to make you stronger, or drink his blood and try to gain power from that.”

The pseudo-demon-lord remained silent for a few seconds, then those seconds became minutes as she thought about the implications of each method.

The first one, keep ruling as a pseudo-demon-lord, that was the worst of them all, an insult to Kali’s face. She was certain that every second she spent on the throne of a demon lord as a pseudo-demon-lord was like spitting on Kali’s face.

The other ones weren’t as bad. Getting killed by Kali was her dream. Ever since she was young, she dreamt of growing stronger, becoming a demon lord, surviving for thousands of years, and at the end, only dying by their Goddess’s hand. She wanted to be remembered as the Demon Lord who only lost to their Demon Goddess of Destruction. She didn’t mind becoming an angel of destruction, but that wasn’t the same as a demon lord.

But she wasn’t that hopeful about gambling bodies with pale night; that process was painful, draining, and expensive. Besides, it’ll take time, and she doesn’t have that. She has to be here to take care of her duties.

The last ones were the interesting ones. Drinking Kali’s blood to become stronger, she knew about that, but she also knew that most demons won’t be able to endure Kali’s blood and just die, exploding into a pile of blood and guts.

The last ones were to either drink Arad’s blood or have him turn her into a vampire to increase her power. They sounded reasonable, until you consider he is Kali’s husband…

Noticing the expression shift on her face, Diana sighed. “Did you realize it?”

The pseudo-demon-lord shook her head. “Realize what? That getting Ar…” She froze, looked at Kali and Arad, then spoke, “His Lordship’s help isn’t possible…”

Diana shook her head. “No, that’s it’s your only option.” She looked at Kali.

“Our Goddess didn’t come here to kill you or find out how to make you stronger. She always had other plans for you. You’re asura demon, like her and her father. But ever since he was killed, all of the asura demons were doomed to destruction. It is the natural selection of the abyss. Probably the reason you can’t become a demon lord.” Diana looked a bit sad, and Kali finished speaking for her.

“Father got killed while transferring the destruction power to me; that power leaked and bound the asura demon race to destruction. But I intend to solve that.” Kali stood and stretched her arms. “My plan is simple: to use a higher will to resist the will of the Abyss and Destruction.”

The pseudo-demon-lord looked at her, confused, and then back at Diana, waiting for a clearer explanation.

“What our Goddess is saying is that she must make the Asura Demons important to the abyss once more. She is marrying Arad, so she isn’t going to marry an Asura demon. But, she could still have Arad marry other Asura demonesses and make sure their blood stays important to the abyss.” Half of that was a lie, even if Kali married an Asura demon, that won’t save them from their fate. The only one who could do that is AO, so her real plan is to have the abyss be forced to choose between angering AO and letting the Asura demon thrive.

Kali shrugged as she sat on Arad’s lap. “That’s it. Once you do that, we can have Arad turn you into a vampire, give you his blood to drink, and when you get a lot of power, I’ll give you my blood to drink, and that should turn you into a proper demon lord.”

She looked at them and then asked. “Do I have a choice in this matter? If I didn’t, you would’ve just ordered me to spread my legs.”

Diana smiled. “At first, Kali didn’t intend to give you a choice. But Arad won’t be happy, so we’re here asking you.” She tapped her on the shoulder. “So, what would you say?”

“Ahem… this is the first time I’m hearing of this.” Arad grabbed Kali by the shoulder, and she looked back at him. “You said we wives can pick the concubines and mistresses on our own, right? I want to take her as a mistress, and some other asura demoness as servants.”

“Next time, inform me first.” Arad rubbed his eyes, and Kali pointed at Diana. “By the way, she is my concubine.” Diana coughed as this was the first time she heard of that. Before, she only thought of herself as a servant.

“So, Roa… what do you say?”

Roa, the pseudo-demon-lord, then burst laughing. “Do you know that I got over a hundred requests here for you?” She looked at Kali with a smile. “The demons think you’ve started taking an interest in consorts, and now they are already trying to reach you. Every powerful demon lord is ruffling their feathers and waiting for you to get bored with Arad so they can replace him.”

Kali blinked several times. “Oh… so I have to solve that misunderstanding first.”
