The dragon's harem

Arad’s decision wasn’t a simple one.

Deciding that their luck would run out meant that he wouldn’t scare the monsters away. He would doom them to facing what would’ve happened if he had refused to come along.

Would he let some of them die? Would he protect them? Or would he pretend to fight and only help when needed?

Arad asked the old man for his opinion, and Zeus said to let them face reality. Scouts live and die in the mountains; their job is one of the hardest jobs a Storm Titan can do.

All of those scouts are hardened warriors who braved the deadly mountains tens, if not hundreds, of times. None of them is a weakling, and so they should all survive, if they are worth their salt.

One of the scout’s main skills is detecting monsters before they can approach them and escape or prepare for a fight.

Arad was scaring the monsters from literally kilometers away so the scouts never had a chance to sense them, but they should be able to when the monsters get close enough.

Arad stopped threatening the monsters and slowed down a bit. Soon, one of the scouts flinched, “Something is off. The wind changed direction.” He looked through the blinding storm.

“A monster? Can they affect the wind?” Another gasped, and the scout remained silent.

“Winged monster to our left, prepare for battle. We can’t escape it in time.” He cried and pointed out. Soon, all of the scouts pulled their weapons and formed a battle formation around Arad to protect him.

“Seems that our luck had run out. Please stay close to us, Lord Arad. We’ll make sure you return safely to the castle.”

One of the scouts suddenly threw his javelin into the snow, and everyone turned somber. A painful, ear-piercing howl boomed across the sky, and the mounts flinched.

Arad could see the monster through the thick snowstorm; it was a titanic winged grey wolf with six four arms and a dorsal fin. The scout’s spear was stuck to one of its wings, which seemed to have prevented the winged wolf from flying.

“Damnation!” One of the scouts cursed immediately as he heard the howl. They didn’t know what kind of monsters they were facing until then. The winged wolves hunt in packs. This one was probably just a scout, and soon they’ll be stormed by hundreds of them.

The scout team can’t face such a massive horde of monsters. They quickly killed the winged wolf with spears and started moving immediately, quickly informing Arad of their plan and situation.

That was painful for Arad, since he knew that their expectations were wrong.

First, that lone wolf wasn’t a scout, but a bait that pushed them in the direction of the pack. While the scout now thinks they are moving away from the pack to escape, they are heading straight to it. Their luck really ran out; only death awaited them.

But Arad wasn’t willing to return alone to the city. That would be too awkward. And so, he decided to give the scout a bit of luck back. He’ll watch them fight and then deal with the wolves’ pack if needed.

Arad silently watched as they walked right into the winged wolves’ trap. The scouts were both pale and horrified as they saw the hundreds of wolves surrounding them.

The scouts fought valantly, doing their best to hold their formation and kill the wolves. Arad helped as well, stabbing a wolf with his spear every now and then. Even Mc bit several wolves to death and kicked others into the sky.

But the fight wasn’t going in their favor. There were just too many wolves. Arad never forgot that those were titans, each one is at least a hundred meters tall, and those wolves are just as massive, tens of meters long, some even bigger than the titans themselves. Everything here is so massive that a human would look like an ant.

This explains where Meryem and her ants originated.

“We’re losing,” Arad growled and sucked Mc into his stomach. He then shifted into his draconic form and roared, stunning the nearby wolves.

The scout looked at him with a grim faces. “You must escape, Lord Arad. We’ll make it back on our own.”

“Escape? Come right here!” He grabbed two of the scouts in each of his claws, threw two on his back, and grabbed their mounts with his tail. Arad still pretended to be just a hundred-meter-long dragon, without counting the tail.

The titans never expected him to be able to carry one of them, let alone everyone, but he did it with ease. His mighty wings flapped, braving the deadly storm like it was nothing. Soon, they could see the wolves grow smaller as they flew away.

“We aren’t safe in the air, they can fly! Drop us and run, Lord Arad. Tyal would kill us if you were to be harmed!” One of the titans cried. If Arad died here with them, their families would be the ones who would pay the price.

Arad chuckled, “You really think this mountain is worth fearing?” He opened his jaw, and the only thing the titan saw was a blinding flash of light.

The shadows danced, the snow disappeared, and the sky cried in pain as waves of searing heat charred the crust of the mountain. The windows in the Storm Titan’s capital almost shattered, and the whole mountain range shook.

As the scouts came to their senses, a massive, several kilometer wide crater of boiling lava was carved into the mountain like a bleeding scar.

The pack of winged wolves had evaporated. This was the breath they heard about, the one that erased Vlad’s whole kingdom.

They had seen it today first-hand. If such a thing hit their capital, not a single titan would survive.

“I… I… believe my eyes!” One of the scouts gasped.

But it was then that they saw a massive horror crawling out of the chasm. It was time for them to leave. But Arad didn’t fly away; he opened his jaw again, and pure light washed over the mountain once again.

The massive horrod had disappeared, and another hole appeared on the side of the mountain as Arad admired his handywork.

Of course, those two breaths were far weaker than what he could actually do. But he wanted the titan to at least expect him to be able to use the breath that wiped Vlad’s kingdom more than once in quick succession.

He didn’t want them to know of his true power, but still wanted them to fear his might.
