The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 38: Can’t Deal With You?

”This guy…”

Seeing Shien continuously charging at him with his broadsword, Leisha was both mad and resigned.

”Last time too, and this time as well. Does this man really just like doing stuff contrary to expectations?”

Although this was indeed quite interesting, Leisha did feel quite frustrated with being unable to force the other side to use his Holy Sword.

”Canʼt he just go with the flow for once?”

Of course, the other sideʼs caution canʼt be said to be completely pointless.

At the very least, Leisha forcing Shien to draw his Holy Sword was for the sake of her own plans.

Since her goal was so obvious, then her opponent acting contrary to her does seem quite logical too.

However, just like Leisha said, with Shienʼs current level, if he didnʼt use the Holy Sword, then thereʼs no way he could deal with her.

”Since I didnʼt have show any intent to harm, he too never considered getting serious and using everything he had either huh?”

If Leisha really did show an intent to kill, then Shien would naturally be unable to keep on holding back his trump card like now.

”Even though he doesnʼt act like a Hero at all, his gaze doesnʼt contain even a little bit of doubt.”

Logically speaking, for him to have found out that the Demon King was already defeated, his own status as a Hero being possibly a spark to start up a war, and his own summoning possibly being a part of some dark plot. Then no matter what, as the person involved, he should have been at least somewhat discomforted.

However, although this new Hero before her was mulling this matter over, he himself didnʼt seem to hold much doubt.

This wasnʼt because he had an unbelievable strong will, nor was it because he was naturally cold and calculating. It was because his adaptability was a bit abnormal instead.

Thus, this new Hero might worry over this matter, but thereʼs no way heʼs show confusion or doubt huh?

That means that the other didnʼt actually have a great attachment to the destiny of defeating the Demon King.

”Iʼve heard that these Heroes from another world were all summoned to this world after their deaths and were then resurrected. Thatʼs why theyʼd help the gods defeat the Demon King, considering their resurrection as payment.”

Perhaps, the man before him just took it as a pure mercantile exchange, or maybe just a one time favor owed.

In that case, not being particularly attached would be quite normal.

With that kind of adaptability, if Leisha showed real hostile intent, then the other side would definitely not hesitate either and directly draw the Holy Sword, right?

”It really canʼt be helped.”

As she thought that, Leisha closed her eyes before slowly reopening them.

”… !”

Shien who was getting ready for another charge suddenly stopped his movement.

Thatʼs because Shienʼs [Enemy Detection] skill suddenly started reacting like crazy and striking him everywhere with a real warning.

”Boom!”

At the same time, in front of Shien, Leisha who was floating in midair exploded outwards with an aura.

Magic power far more terrifying than before started igniting from that girlʼs body.

”Donʼt you think itʼs about time we stopped playing around? Hero?”

Leisha who said that was not only releasing amazing magical power from her entire body, her gaze and expression had also turned unbelievably cold.

The her right now is completely different from what she was like a moment ago.

With the warnings he got from the [Enemy Detection] skill, Shien understood.

From this moment on, his opponent was showing real hostile intent to him now.

No, it should be called killing intent.

”Out of patience, huh?”

Shien showed a smile.

”Indeed. Iʼve already gotten tired of playing around.” Leisha spoke coolly, ”From here I will be acting with the intent to kill you. If you think thatʼs fine, then you may continue hiding your Holy Sword.”

Those words got a playful smile back from Shien.

Shien stopped attacking Leisha and instead just stood there without moving.

”If you can do it, then go ahead and try.”

That much was enough as a reply.

Seeing that Shien was still not preparing to use the Holy Sword, Leisha was both frustrated and angry.

”Donʼt regret it then.”

With that, Leisha extended a hand towards Shien.

”I use quite a few magic types, but there are two that are the strongest.”

Leisha started with that.

”One is gravity magic.”

”The other is spacial magic.”

Those two magic types can be said to be Leishaʼs greatest techniques.

”Especially spacial magic. Be it attack, defense, control, or movement. All those kinds of spells are included.”

”Just like this.”

Leisha aimed her extended hand towards Shien.

”Vring!”

Suddenly, the space around Shien seemed to shake together with a strange pressure.

Shien could only feel that he seemed to have been transfixed to this patch of space, making him unable to move.

This a control type spell that uses space itself to freeze an opponent in place. The moment itʼs done, the frozen space would no longer change. Itʼs like as if it turned into stone, and nothing within it could move nor could it be moved. Unless you could shatter the space itself, otherwise, when youʼre locked within it, thereʼs no way for you to escape you know?”

Leisha explained emotionlessly.

”Of course, so long as the [Magic – Spacial] skillʼs level is high enough, then not just freezing it, but even warping space, moving space, or cutting space are all doable.

”Even something like annihilating space is possible.”

Those words made anyone who heard it feel an involuntary coldness in their hearts.

”Well? Do you still not plan to draw your Holy Sword?”

Thus, Leisha confirmed it.

No, it should be said that it was her making her final warnings.

And yet, Shien who was still frozen within space was still looking at Leisha like he had been the whole time.

The playful expression in his eyes still remained the same.

”Idiocy.”

Leishaʼs gaze cooled further and she stopped hesitating.

”Snap!”

With a snap of a finger from Leisha, the world there changed.

The space where Shien was became like it was consumed by a black hole and suddenly turned into a box.

”Bang!!!”

Immediately, that black box shattered, completely erasing that patch of space.

Everything within that space thus turned to nothing. Be it the ground or the dirt, all of it was like it was scooped away, leaving just a dark pit.

Until…

”Bang!”

A second shattering sound rang out.

”What!?”

In the air, Leisha showed a surprised expression.

Thatʼs because…

”Annihilation of space. That does sound quite scary.”

Within that dark pit, a figure came out of that shattered space like it was appearing from thin air.

Shien stood there unharmed and spoke while chuckling.

”Unfortunately though, magic has no effect on me.”

Indeed.

Magic had no effect on Shien.

Not just magic. Even physical attacks couldnʼt have much of an effect on Shien.

After all, be it [Physical Resistance] or [Magic Resistance], both were taken to their maximum levels by Shien, so thus they nullified practically all physical and magical attacks.

Leisha had gotten one thing wrong.

”To deal with you, I donʼt need to use the Holy Sword at all.”

Even without the power of the Holy Sword, Shien was still very hard to kill.

”Without the Holy Sword, I canʼt deal with you huh?”

”Perhaps so.”

”However, that doesnʼt mean youʼd be able to deal with me either, miss poser.”

Thatʼs the reason why Shien had no fear at all.
