The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 80: Murder Night part 2

I already eliminated the guild, so they can hardly ask for reinforcements. I made them the main target to ensure the maximum amount of time possible.

”Pandora, why are you doing this?” Violet asks with genuine doubt.

”Because it’s fun, there’s not much to explain, it just satisfies me to do this slaughter, there’s no logical reason, you understand? I just feel the urge to kill, so I kill, no more, no less.”

”Living beings usually don’t ask themselves why they have to eat, they just feel it and then they go eat, and it’s the same thing with me, I just felt the urge to kill, nothing really grand.”

I walk through the streets, this first part near the guild has no people, the houses here are empty, but I feel people a few blocks ahead.

”Okay... So Pandora, why be cruel to that guy in that way? You could have killed him right away, why say that the person he loves was pregnant just to torment him?”

A cruel smile appears on my face beneath the armor.

”Because it seemed very entertaining, the color of despair is always beautiful, I had never killed someone in front of their loved one before.”

”Besides, I had never seen a pregnant woman before, so I wanted to try it, it wasn’t a big deal in the end.”

I didn’t even know I could identify this type of thing by the smell, it just seemed different, since my senses are heightened, I felt the different scent and soon identified the cause.

”...”

”What’s wrong? Does this make you uncomfortable? You’ll get used to it, because you can be sure your blade will be constantly bathed in blood while we’re together.”

”... It’s not quite like that, it’s just that...”

”Silence, we’ve arrived and I don’t want you interfering with my fun.”

Violet makes an annoyed sound for me having interrupted her, but she shuts up. Soon I enter one of the houses, kicking the door that flies off with the force of the kick.

”Who are you?...” A man who was in the living room asks.

I quickly rip him to pieces with the sword as I start to go upstairs.

Soon I reach the room upstairs, I see a woman coming out of a room, probably awakened by the noise.

”I-Intruder...” I quickly cut her head in half, although the act of torture has its charm, I’m in a hurry, so I’ll just cause as many deaths as I can.

Soon I enter the room next to it, I see someone huddled under a sheet, judging by the size, a child.

”Pandora, do we really need to kill this person?” Violet asks, but her tone is strange, it doesn’t seem like pity.

And it doesn’t seem like she wants me to stop.

”...”

’Strange...’

”Yes, we need to kill everyone, I’m not even close to being satisfied with just 27 deaths.”

Clearly I won’t be able to devastate the entire kingdom after all, I’m doing this one by one, but my goal is just to have fun, what’s the point in ending it quickly?

I took advantage of the scenario to come to this distant kingdom, but the scenario was not the reason I came here, if it was just to kill that, I could have done it in the kingdom I was in.

I enter a room.

Soon I hear sobs, it seems the person under the sheet is awake.

I quickly undo the shadow sword while Violet returns to my hand, I take a fighting stance holding a sword that doesn’t exist, soon I make a cutting motion with the non-existent sword.

”AAARRGGG” I hear the scream of the person under the sheet, soon I see blood dripping on the part where the head is, staining the sheet.

”It works... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH IT’S PERFECT”

”What did you do, Pandora?” Violet asks, since she was sleeping, she didn’t see while I was training.

”I’ll explain while we kill.” I start going from house to house, killing and killing, sometimes painting the walls and ceiling with blood, or spreading internal organs all over the floor.

I explain to her that this is my newest technique of sword fighting with a Katana, and Spatial Fencing, it was much harder to learn than the Fencing I used before.

This Spatial Fencing consists of creating an ”invisible” sword that basically doesn’t exist, I can use the non-existent sword in two ways, the first is the normal use, I combine it with my sword, making the two into one.

This way, my sword becomes capable of cutting space, generating very powerful attacks, although it consumes mana to use this fencing, and the second form of use is just using the invisible sword.

The blows with the non-existent Katana ignore the concept of space, thus literally annihilating the target’s organs from the inside without cutting them from the outside.

This fencing technique has 7 skills and was developed in this world, I learned it by reading and practicing from a book I obtained from the Grand Duchy.

Although it has its disadvantages, for example the invisible sword cannot block, that is, it does not serve to fight against someone armed, if I tried to exchange blows, it would literally pass through the enemy’s sword while his sword would hit me.

So in both cases we would take damage, I would take damage from his weapon, and he would take damage from the invisible sword, that’s why the invisible sword is better against martial artists since they fight with bare hands.

The second disadvantage is mana, as it uses mana to generate the attacks, if I’m out of mana, this fencing becomes useless, and it can only be used with a Katana.

That’s why in this world there are still techniques that don’t use mana, because mana is valuable in battle, so you can’t waste it.

”Wow, it seems incredible,” Violet praises me with genuine surprise.

”Yes, it really is.”

We soon reach another house.

”Want to test the space cuts?” I ask Violet.

”Sure,” she agrees, soon I kick the door and enter. I start going upstairs in this tavern.

I create a sword with the shadows for Violet to enter, before I didn’t use shadow swords because they weren’t very good, and they still aren’t that good, but it’s not like I’m going to face someone strong.

Soon I find a man holding a sword.

”I don’t know who you are, but if you don’t leave now, I’ll kill you,” he threatens while getting into a fighting stance.

”...”

”Pfff hahahahaha, are you serious?” I laugh at the situation, he seems annoyed, soon he rushes to attack.

I use a simple cut, but using spatial fencing, as soon as the cut occurs, I notice the change in the space through which the blade passed, it was very momentary, but the space was torn.

The man’s sword and body were cut to perfection without him having the slightest chance, a cut appears on the wall, residues of the destruction of the space that moves slightly away from the blade.

”I see, it’s not that hard to block,” Violet says when she sees the technique.

”...You’re right, if you have enough mana, it’s easy to block, but wasting mana in battle is bad, so most would choose to try to avoid it rather than block.”

To block this fencing, you just need to reinforce your body with mana, which would even allow you to hold the blade of the sword.

However, naturally the mana consumption to defend this type of attack is high, so the question is, whose mana would run out first? My opponent’s or mine, which has a monstrous recovery rate?

”D-Daddy” a child runs to the corpse on the floor, he soon grabs the sword and points it at me.

”I-I’m going to kill you” He says crying.

”Great, when you point a weapon at someone, you have to be ready to be attacked too.” I lop off his arm in one blow.

”AAAHHHH” He screams as he falls to the ground, writhing in pain.

”Get up, boy, in battle the enemy won’t stop just because you lost an arm... I said GET UP” I kick him, sending him crashing against the wall.

He moans in pain as he holds the place where his arm used to be.

”Violet?...” Violet seems strangely focused on the murder.

I soon go to the boy and cut off his legs, while observing Violet’s reaction, she’s acting strange.

”Violet... are you... enjoying this?” It seems that during the killings, she became more and more focused, while her power seemed to increase.

”Yes... I’m enjoying it, I’ve never been through anything like this before, but it seems... right?”

’And why is it a cursed weapon?’ I come up with the hypothesis that maybe it’s because she’s never been used before, so now that she’s experiencing blood in high quantities, she’s starting to become active.

”You’ll come to love it at some point,” I tell her as I cut the boy’s stomach and leave, leaving him crying in pain, if he’s lucky, he might survive, which I doubt very much.

Soon Violet and I start torturing the victims slightly, either by cutting them in non-vital areas or by dismembering them while leaving them alive for a while, Violet was getting more and more active in this.

After killing more than 1,000, I stopped counting, and just kept killing, we’ve been at it for more than 3 hours and the death toll is over 5,000.

Whether men, women, children, the elderly, or babies, we go out destroying all the lives we encounter, apart from animals, there’s no need to kill animals when you have humans who are more fun.

We soon enter another house.

”Hick...” I hear a sobbing sound.

’I think I’ve killed about 5,670... I stopped counting after the first 1,000.’ I soon enter to see who my new victim will be.

Right in what can be called the ”living room” is a little girl, she has several dirty and tattered bandages, while she has some considerably serious injuries on her body and face.

The little girl has long black hair and eyes even blacker than her hair.

I go to her, who is crying softly.

”What’s wrong, little one?” I ask her, and she looks at me with lifeless eyes.

”N-Nothing...” She responds with a trembling voice, soon I hear a scream.

”YOU LITTLE SHIT, DON’T MAKE A SOUND DOWN THERE!” A man’s scream came from one of the rooms, while the girl’s body trembles with fear.

’I understand a case of abuse.’ Her injuries are considerable.

(Works only on beings much weaker than the user)

Mission = Convert this girl into your loyal follower, corrupt her mind and make her your ally, extend your hands to this despised being and show her the path of hatred, revenge and slaughter, make her a follower who agrees with your cause.

Mission Success = New Skill Unlocked, New Follower.

Mission Failure = No Gains]

’I killed more than I thought... the mission is not confirmed, so it’s already in effect since the warning came... to corrupt someone...’ I’m not a fan of helping others without a reason, but the proposal to corrupt this sweet little girl into a cruel assassin seems good.

Plus the gain of a new skill.

I convert mana into sacred element and heal her, she looks at me surprised, beneath the helmet a cruel smile appears on my face.
