The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 594 - 304: Magic: Flying Knife Game
The gray-white walls were adorned with cheap colored LED lights, and various versions of cute cartoon stickers haphazardly decorated the room; the floor was covered in rubble and dust that hadn’t been cleaned up in time.

It was evident that the person who decorated this room had intended to turn it into an amusement park. However, due to all sorts of rudimentary conditions, the room hardly resembled the happy and joyful atmosphere of an amusement park.

On the contrary, the corner bound security chief and the president tied to the spinning wheel inadvertently created an eerily bizarre atmosphere.

By now, many people in the Thirteen District had already turned their attention to the situation in this live broadcast room. An influx of viewers had overloaded the servers, causing intermittent lag in the stream.

However, someone far more concerned about the stability of the stream than the Deception Group members present was Liu Tingruo. In a villa in the Seventh District, she was munching on a long strip of dried squid while rapidly working on Xiao Wu’s keyboard, watching the live broadcast on TV.

Soon, the network fluctuations stabilized completely, and Liu Tingruo even helped optimize some algorithms for the official ”Pili Pili” platform, improving the server’s performance.

However, although nearly six-digit numbers of viewers had entered the live broadcast room, not a single comment could scroll across the public screen. Everyone had the right to watch but not to speak.

At this time, people on the streets of the Thirteen District, whether in cafes or taverns, found places to sit down and simultaneously displayed the broadcast on their screens.

It was as if a globally anticipated event had begun. People spread the news of the Deception Group’s return across the internet.

Inside the room, the president caught sight of the knife being tossed in the air by the person with a smiling face and exclaimed in horror, ”A game? What are you going to do to me?”

He wasn’t foolish. Realizing he was tied to a spinning wheel and the smiling face held a flying knife, he faintly guessed what the masked man might intend to do.

Was he to be used as a target?

The president stared at the flying knife glistening under the light, a hint of fear inevitably surfacing in his eyes.

Only then did he truly confirm that the situation was beyond his control.

These people were all madmen; they didn’t want to extract any benefit from him. They merely wanted to commit violence publicly, nothing more.

”Don’t worry, we’re just playing a Flying Knife Game,” the smiling face lifted the flying knife, its sharp tip directly pointing at the man on the wheel.

It was a knife without a handle, sharp at both ends, clearly not meant for cutting but purely for throwing.

The president’s body began to spin with the wheel and his vision whirled dizzyingly. His prosthetic eye contained a superior gyroscope to ensure the visuals he saw remained stable, preventing him from vomiting on the spot.

But evidently, the president’s concern was not that; his gaze stayed locked on the flying knife, the chill of it sending a tremor through his soul.

”It’s a simple game, Mr. President,” said the smiling face. ”I will throw the flying knife, trying to avoid your body. If I manage to lodge the knife into the wheel and not into you, you answer one question truthfully, deal?”

”Okay, as long as you don’t hurt me, I’ll tell you anything,” the president agreed without hesitation, having no real choice.

”And here, we have a lie detector. Green light means you’re telling the truth, red light otherwise,” Jiang Shu took out something resembling a white button. ”If you lie, I’ll drive the knife into your body instead.”

This game virtually ensured the president wouldn’t dare to lie; if he did, the next flying knife would not be aimed at the wheel but at him.

”Alright, I’ll tell the truth,” the president nodded. He looked at the button-like device with doubt.

He had seen lie detectors before, and they certainly didn’t look like a button.

The president knew quite a bit about lie detectors; lying caused certain physiological changes in a person.

Pulse, respiration, skin resistance—these indicators would all undergo subtle changes, which the lie detector could detect.

Thus, a lie detector surely needed to be attached to the person being tested. How could such a small button detect anything?

Moreover, the president was well aware of the Calming Entry he possessed.

With the Calming Entry’s effect, as long as he was mentally prepared, the lie detector would almost never detect his lies.

With this thought, the president felt somewhat reassured.

Perhaps, he wouldn’t need to endure the knife or answer truthfully before the camera.

”You said this is a game, so the game must have some fairness. For me, how can I win the game?” The president asked, beginning to actively look for a way out.
