The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 504 - 272
Chapter 504: Chapter 272 ”War God Wolf”Hello, is this Police Chief Tang Hexun?” Jiang Shu immediately called Tang Hexun after he ran into a secure passageway.

”Hmm? How are you guys? No serious trouble, right? You lost contact for a while, and the station’s White Hat tried to hack into the surveillance system to check on you two, but found an extra firewall had been added; it would take a lot of time to break through,” Tang Hexun rattled off as soon as the phone connected, his first concern being Jiang Shu and Wolf’s safety, followed by the mission status. ”Also, is there a problem with the mission? I heard the Seges Building’s air raid alarm sounding. You guys should pull out first; your personal safety is the priority.”

”Wolf has been surrounded by the opponent’s goons; he covered for me to escape. We need to rescue him quickly; this company is extremely ruthless. I dare not imagine what they might do,” Jiang Shu replied in kind, his tone matching the urgency, ”This mission is already a failure; Gary didn’t manage to kidnap the chairman. Besides, someone has a hit out on the chairman and someone has leaked mine and Wolf’s true identities.”

”I’ll contact the Sages Group’s person in charge as soon as possible, or if it comes to it, I’ll lead a team there myself. You can head to the Seges Building’s rooftop or a high-window area on the upper floors; the police department’s helicopter will take over the building’s airspace” Tang Hexun quickly responded, then he continued, ”This mission looks very strange; I’ll investigate the internal reasons after you return.”

Having received the promise of Tang Hexun leading a rescue, Jiang Shu nodded, then continued, ”After I got in here, I collected some illegal videos of the company. I’ll send them to you in a bit. They could be useful if you do have to force your way into the Sages Group.”

”Mm.” Tang Hexun responded swiftly and firmly, ”I’m going to rally the troops now; notify me immediately of any new developments.”

His voice was tinged with urgency before he abruptly ended the call.

On the other end of the phone, Jiang Shu was thoughtful.

Would he really take the risk of storming into the Sages Group without a search warrant just for the two of us?

Using the helicopter, plus that air raid alarm, there’s no way today’s disturbance will be minor.

While this approach is certainly honorable, it is also very irrational. To put it bluntly, Tang Hexun is staking his career on this.

Such actions can easily be spun out of control with a little manipulation. If someone pays an internet army to create a narrative online, it could easily turn into accusations of rogue policing, disrupting normal corporate operations, illegal searches, and the like.

If that’s the case, then it’s better to act first.

Jiang Shu sent the incriminating videos Ding had recorded throughout the Seges Building to Police Chief Tang Hexun; there was a clear cause for doing so.

Though someone as clever as Tang Hexun could easily tell these ”evidence” came from a dubious source, at times like this, there wasn’t much room for concern.

Following that, he contacted Li Yuntang.

She was the most capable and influential person he knew; securing her help would almost guarantee success on the public opinion front.

The concept of ’strike first’ is crucial; very few netizens are interested in what the truth behind an incident really is.

However, he also understood Li Yuntang. She generally wouldn’t make publicly biased statements because she was well aware of her influence and the drawbacks that came with it.

Hmm...

Borrowing some public relations resources shouldn’t be an issue, right?

Someone like Li Yuntang, her Public Relations Department must be filled with talented individuals; a slight manipulation would easily plunge the Sages Group into the center of public controversy.

So, Jiang Shu began composing a message. When it came to playing the victim, he was quite skilled.

Yes, and it was the kind of playing victim that seemed very dignified.

Jiang Shu: Miss Li Yuntang, I come to you in need. I am currently trapped in the Seges Building in Thirteen District. Holding evidence of their illegal activities, I am now in danger, and my life is under threat. They have powerful backers, and I have no choice but to reach out for help. Only you can help me through this peril. I will be deeply grateful afterward!

At the same time, Jiang Shu also began to reach out to the three Tablet Spirits, Jia, Yi, and Bing. Their help was also crucial.

As the Tablet Spirits, they knew all about the operations of internet armies and setting the agenda. If they could bring the matter to a head before the Sages Group could react, the latter’s powerful backers couldn’t ignore the power of public opinion.

It seemed that ”Jia”, ”Yi looks like he can do a lot,” and ”Bing ahead by a nose” were about to make a comeback.

Jia: Set the tone?

Yi: I’m on it! I’m on it I’m on it I’m on it!

Bing: Three sentences, and I can evaporate thirty billion from the Sages Group’s market value.

Being Tablet Spirits, they too had the video evidence shot by little Ding, so upon receiving Jiang Shu’s message, they immediately set to work editing the footage.

For them, this kind of task was not at all difficult.

It was mainly about the copy’s empathic capability; such matters would naturally strike a chord with anyone working in a city. Stirring up public anger was not challenging.

Not only did they need to evoke empathy, but they also had to quickly make the video trend to gain a lot of attention. There was a certain operational logic to it as well.
