The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 83: Chapter 82: Let Me Give It a Try

Sun Mingze pondered upon Fu Yu’s question.

The Longevity Peaches his family used to eat?

Those were all bought from the 123 Grain Store in the southern district.

The 123 Grain Store specializes in traditional pastries.

When Sun Mingze was young, this shop was already open. It’s been nearly forty years now and it’s still running.

Seeing Sun Mingze immersed in his memories, Fu Yu quickly checked above his head at the [...]

Sure enough, a series of sketches appeared before him.

However, the content...

Jiangmi sticks? Oven pastries? Peach crisp? Banana sticks? Small twists...

Fu Yu hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t help reminding, ”Could you please describe the specific kind of traditional Longevity Peach your mother liked? Even though Longevity Peaches sound simple, there are actually quite a few types.”

”A Longevity Peach is just a Longevity Peach! We’ve bought several kinds, and my mother loves them all...”

Sun Mingze spoke while unconsciously recalling the Longevity Peaches he had eaten.

The content on the sketch slowly started appearing.

A steamer filled with seven small Longevity Peaches, with a white plump body and a pointed tip shaped like a peach.

The color on the peach tip is very deep—it would be pink in reality.

”There’s a sweet one, small in size, very soft and glutinous when eaten, sprinkled with rose petals on top, and it tastes quite nice.”

The patterns in the sketch rapidly transformed again.

This time, two Longevity Peaches were placed side by side on a large round plate, looking remarkably lifelike.

Not only was the peach body crafted, but even the peach leaves, and there was a clear longevity character on the front of the peach, which was quite charming.

As Sun Mingze recalled, he described, ”There’s another kind, quite similar to what your shop makes, but their ingredients are much more generous! They use whole large pieces of candied fruits and nuts, genuinely substantial, and the taste is indeed aromatic!”

As Sun Mingze described, another pattern appeared on the sketch.

A Longevity Peach, similar in size to the one customized for the music restaurant, was placed in a large round tray.

This Longevity Peach looked like a large steamed bun, with the shades penciled in, easily recognizable; in reality, it would be completely dyed the pink color of an immortal peach.

”The Longevity Peach my brother-in-law brought last year was quite large, with a thick dough, but when cut open, it had a red bean filling. That bean filling was really tasty. My elderly grandmother said it tasted authentic, just like what they used to buy.”

Looking at the sketches, Fu Yu couldn’t help but laugh and cry.

”You’ve described at least three different styles of Longevity Peaches here, but when the order was customized, all these fillings were lumped together, so it’s inevitable that the result would be different from what you expected.”

Fu Yu genuinely felt sorry for Ren Mingqing.

Sun Mingze didn’t realize his own issue and complained, ”When placing the custom order, your staff asked me what kind of Longevity Peach I wanted, so I told them everything I wanted, and they promised they could make it just like that. But what did I end up getting?”

Talking about this issue just irked Sun Mingze.

”The appearance looked somewhat okay, but the filling was quite deceptive! There were only a few nuts in the entire filling, and it tasted odd. Is this the specialty of your shop?”

This was a bit unreasonable.

Fu Yu estimated that during the customization, no one expected Sun Mingze would mix several kinds of Longevity Peach fillings together.

Sun Mingze likely thought that since it was custom Longevity Peaches, he might as well mention all the fillings he thought were good.

More ingredients would surely result in better taste.

Yet, unexpected things happened.

However, at this point, there’s no point in questioning who’s at fault.

In the restaurant business, the customer is always right.

If the customer is unhappy, the blame rests on oneself.

Fu Yu certainly wouldn’t hold onto this point and argue with Sun Mingze.

His goal was to fulfill Sun Mingze’s wishes and make a Longevity Peach that would satisfy his mother.

Now that they figured out what kind of Longevity Peach it was, what he needed was to learn the precise baking methods for the Longevity Peach.

So, Fu Yu neither agreed with Sun Mingze’s complaints nor continued apologizing.

Instead, he sincerely promised, ”I understand your specific requirements clearly now. However, making a Longevity Peach might take some time, so I’d have to trouble you to wait a bit.”

Sun Mingze was not very hopeful anymore.

He resolved that if the music restaurant still couldn’t make a Longevity Peach to his satisfaction, he would make a big fuss, demanding compensation from the restaurant’s owner.

Furthermore, he wanted the music restaurant to apologize to him on social media.

After all, there was no way he was going to let this whole ordeal go lightly.

Just as Fu Yu settled things with Sun Mingze, Yao Shi contacted Ren Mingqing.

Upon hearing the story, Ren Mingqing promised to hurry back right away without a second word.

But since he was rushing home and already close to reaching there, returning might take some time.

Confirming that Ren Mingqing would return, Yao Shi finally felt reassured.

After hanging up the phone, Yao Shi pushed open the door of the VIP room and saw Fu Yu and Sun Mingze sitting across each other.

Although they weren’t talking, Sun Mingze’s expression seemed noticeably calmer.

Seeing this, Yao Shi was a bit surprised yet finally breathed a sigh of relief...

It seemed they really managed to stabilize the situation.

As long as there wasn’t a commotion, they could wait for Ren Mingqing to arrive.

When Fu Yu saw Yao Shi enter, he hurriedly stood up and greeted with a smile, ”Chef Yao, I’ve communicated with this gentleman. As long as we remake the Longevity Peach according to his requirements, everything will be fine.”

Sun Mingze nodded, ”That’s right, please hurry. It’s getting late, and I need to bring it over to the old lady.”

Yao Shi quickly responded, ”Alright, don’t worry, I’ve already contacted the chef. He’s on his way back, and as soon as he arrives, we can start remaking it for you.”

Hearing this, Sun Mingze pointed at Fu Yu, ”Can’t he just do it? I’m in a hurry, so let him do it!”

If the previous chef could have made the Longevity Peach he wanted, they wouldn’t be in this mess today.

Moreover, Sun Mingze didn’t think Fu Yu could do it.

The situation now was that it didn’t matter who did it, as long as he was unsatisfied, the music restaurant would have to compensate and apologize until he was pleased.

Since that was the case, he thought it better to choose someone pleasing to serve him.

Hearing Sun Mingze say this, Fu Yu smiled, ”Chef Yao, I can make the Longevity Peach. Let me give it a try.”

Yao Shi was dumbfounded.

He never thought that Fu Yu could actually make a Longevity Peach.

After all, the skills for the red station and the dough station aren’t even in the same category.

Yao Shi didn’t expect Fu Yu to have this talent.

But on second thought, since Ren Mingqing wouldn’t be back for a while, he might as well let Fu Yu give it a try.

After all, the previous dough balloon and prosperous stew both involved techniques for the dough station.

Fu Yu’s operations back then looked quite proficient indeed.

If he succeeded, this matter could be resolved smoothly.

If not, it didn’t matter.

By then, Ren Mingqing would have returned.

Nothing would be delayed.
