The Broken Halo

Simon gently placed Lucien on the floor after confirming that he was truly unconscious and was not faking it.

He looked at the unconscious Lucien with a cold gaze and a completely indifferent expression.

“Funny how your connection with Caesar is what saved you.” He said softly.

His previous plan was to kill Lucien according to the mission he was given, but after hearing Lucien’s words, there was no way he was going to kill him without obtaining more information from the Frostborn prodigy.

’So, your main goal was to make me do your dirty work and get something that you need… Using me for something like this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.’

’Caesar o Caesar. You really are getting on my nerves.’

Simon exhaled deeply, then he looked at Lucien’s spatial ring.

Every demon that won an item from the auction were given their items immediately after they won it.

So he knew that the Lucien had the Winter Monkey and the other items he won from the auction.

“I’ll be taking that.”

He removed the spatial ring, then he attempted to wipe away Lucien’s demonic energy and mental energy signature from the ring.

However, his expression suddenly changed the moment he wiped away Lucien’s signature from the ring.

Without hesitation, he dropped the ring and jumped back.

Clang

Clang

Clang

The ring fell on the floor three times before coming to a stop.

A second later, snow began to form from thin air around the ring and the floor became frozen.

At first, the snow was falling at a slow pace but it suddenly increased.

At the same time, the ice around the ring began to rise and take shape.

It started from the feet, to the legs, to the waist, to the chest, to the shoulders, to the arms, to the hands, to the fingers, then to the neck.

A humanoid ice sculpture appeared above the ring, and the aura it radiated was extremely vast, extremely cold, and extremely terrifying.

Ice began to spread across the auction hall, freezing the chairs, the tables, the walls, the fabrics, and so on.

Snow also began to fall from the ceiling of the auction hall, and Simon’s expression was extremely grave.

The head of the ice sculpture formed, and when Simon saw the face on the ice sculpture, his lips curled into a self-mocking smile.

“Great. The father has joined.” He said with a joking tone that also carried extremely seriousness and coldness.

The ice puppet resembled a Frostborn, and its face bore a striking resemblance to Lucien’s face.

As for the aura?

It radiated the aura of a Supreme Greater Demon.

If not for how cold his surroundings was, a drop of sweat would be on his temple by now.

’It’s radiating the aura of a Superior Greater Demon, but it cannot be comparable to actual Superior Greater Demon for many reasons.’

’This ice puppet… it’s temporary.’

Simon glanced at the spatial ring beneath the ice puppet with narrowed eyes.

’It’s connected to that brat’s spatial ring. Demonic energy and mental energy has been stored by the father inside the ring beforehand, and once both energies have been exhausted, it’ll crumble into pieces.’

Simon’s frown deepened.

’But I’m very sure that the father is on his way here right now. The appearance of this puppet must have alerted him… And if he’s in the city…’

“Tch.”

Simon clicked his tongue, then his gaze flickered with a calculating glint when he saw that the first thing the ice puppet did was to look at Lucien.

It was confirming Lucien’s status, and Simon saw this as an opportunity.

He couldn’t give it time to process what was going on.

If he waited for it to be ready for combat, he would die.

Without a doubt.

This was the window of opportunity he had to survive, and he had to take it.

Run away?

How could he run away from a Greater Demon?

He would be caught and killed without a single doubt.

’I’ll destroy it.’

Whoosh!

His figure suddenly vanished, and he reappeared in front of the puppet with the chaos blade coming down at it from above.

However…

Clang!

The ice puppet merely placed his right arm in the path of the chaos blade, and the sword was rebounded away.

’It’s so hard.’

Simon cursed as his arm was swung away by the rebound, but he was prepared for such a thing.

Bang!

He slammed his foot on the ground, held the chaos blade tightly with his two hands and swung down with all his might.

As he swung down, black flames engulfed the chaos blade.

“BREAK FOR MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!”

CLANG!!!

The sound of metal hitting metal echoed in the auction hall, but this time around, Simon’s arms were not sent flying away.

The chaos blade could not cut through the arm of the ice puppet at first, but what was an ice puppet made by a Demon Lord compared to the actual flames of chaos?

In a single second, the chaos flames melted the arm of the ice puppet and the chaos blade cut it in two and went for its head.

However, the ice puppet was not weak.

It tilted its head at the last second, dodging the edge of the chaos blade.

But the chaos blade did not stop and it cut deep into its shoulder.

If the ice puppet was a living being, it would have screamed in pain and Simon would have taken advantage of that, but he could not.

’Damn it. I need to continue.’

Simon gritted his teeth and was about to continue his attack.

He had to be fast and precise.

He had to destroy the puppet before the puppet got a hang of itself.

However… it was too late.

“Hmm?”

A hand made out ice suddenly appeared in front of his face.

Its palm was wide open, but Simon’s instincts screamed at him and he quickly dodged the side.

Dozens of ice needles shot out of the hand, and the sound of their impact with several objects behind Simon was comparable to the sound of a machine gun.
