The Broken Halo

Chapter 405: 405: A Zoo In My Mind

Simon looked at the tremblig abyssal grass cutter with slightly raised brows.

He understood that his sea of consciousness was unique and very powerful, but it still felt strange to him that even a Dread Beast could not stand upright before him.

“Would the Will of a Calamity Beast also be this fearful? Or would it put up a fight?”

He tilted his head slightly, then he looked around and he saw that the demon dog and gnawers were looking at him and the abyssal grass cutter with what looked like… anticipation and excitement?

“They’re looking forward to having another playmate? Or they just like it when there are more of them?”

He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the four beast Wills, then he shifted his gaze back to the abyssal grass cutter.

Seeing that the abyssal grass cutter was still bowing down and trembling, he decided to create the formation.

He waved his hand, and a few seconds later, the enslavement formation was in front of him, radiating a dark, chilling light.

Simon gestured to the demonic mantis with two of his fingers, then the formation descended and fused with the abyssal grass cutter.

The moment this happened, it began to transform.

Simon watched with his arms crossed, and a few minutes later, the transformation ended.

Just like the previous transformations of the demon dog and gnawers, the transformation of the abyssal grass cutter was nothing major.

From a crimson colour to a completely black colour, it was twice its original size, its blades were longer and sharper, its body was a lot sturdier, it looked more solid than before, its wings were longer and bigger, and its mandibles were also more deadly than before.

There were a few other minor changes but Simon wasn’t focusing on all of that.

Another thing he took note of is that the abyssal grass cutter was also stronger than before.

“Stand.”

The mantis obeyed his command and stood, and it was taller than Simon, and Simon had to take a few steps to the back to get a good look at the transformed abyssal grass cutter.

’The gnawers were Minor Lesser Demon Beasts before their transformation, now their Wills are comparable to that of a Superior Lesser Demon Beast.’

’The demon dog was also a Minor Dire Beast before its transformation, and now it’s comparable to a Superior Dire Beast.’

’As for the abyssal grass cutter, it was a Prime Dread Beast before its transformation, now it’s comparable to a Supreme Dire Beast.’

’My mental energy made the Beast Wills stronger, but did it do anything else to them.’

Simon tilted his head slightly as he inspected the Will of the abyssal grass cutter.

The abyssal grass cutter was as quiet as when it was alive, and its large black eyes were quite unsettling to look at.

However, Simon knew that it was like the demon dog and the gnawers. It had a will of its own and it was not a puppet.

Simon waved his hand at the mantis.

“Go.”

The abyssal grass cutter blinked weirdly, then it slowly turned its head around, completing a full 360°.

Although Simon knows that a mantis could turn its head by an angle of 360°, it was still strange seeing the abyssal grass cutter do that in front of him.

Eventually, the abyssal grass cutter walked away from its position. However, it didn’t approach the demon dog and the gnawers.

It stopped after walking for about two minutes, then it closed its eyes and crouched.

Simon blinked as he realized that the mantis was sleeping.

He tilted his head slightly, then he chuckled softly.

“I see, so you’re a loner.”

Just as he said these words, the demon dog and the gnawers approached the abyssal grass cutter.

Because the abyssal grass cutter was larger than every other beast in his sea of consciousness, it looked quite comical to Simon as he watched a dog and three rats cautiously approaching a praying mantis.

Eventually, the gnawers climbed the body of the sleep abyssal grass cutter, using it as a sort of playground.

Then the demon dog sniffed the abyssal grass cutter and was about to take a bite out of it, but a blade suddenly swung from above and stopped right in front of its nose, nearly severing it in two.

The demon dog was shaken, and it looked up, only to see the large black eyes of the abyssal grass cutter staring down at it with an unnerving gaze.

Just as the demon dog was about to turn away, it saw the three rats looking down at it from the head of the abyssal grass cutter, and for some reason, it felt like the rats were snickering at him.

It growled, then it jumped and attacked them, completely forgetting that they were on the abyssal grass cutter.

Eventually, Simon watched as the demon dog ran away from the abyssal grass cutter, its body littered with cuts.

He shook his head as he decided to ignore these beasts.

It felt strange, completely strange seeing these beast Wills act the way they were acting.

The Mad Scientist never mentioned anything like this, and he was curious to know if there were any other changes his mental energy had done to the beast Wills.

“I guess I’ll find out when I use them in battle, but I have a feeling that it’ll be shocking once I figure it out.”

Simon decided to leave his sea of consciousness and the five beasts.

Because they were now made of his mental energy, they couldn’t kill one another no matter how much they fought, and they couldn’t cause any harm to his sea of consciousness.

Though, he decided that he would have to get more beasts, and to his surprise… more rats.

When he left his sea of consciousness, the first thing he did was to inspect his mind and ensure that there was no problem with it.

One of the problems of the Eternal Mind Zoo is that the more beast Wills a demon placed in their sea of consciousness, the greater the pressure on their mind.

He could feel a little bit of weight on his mind, but it was so small that it could be ignored with ease.

’Still can’t believe that I’m actually thinking of having a zoo in my mind.’

He shook his head slightly.
