The 99th Divorce

Lili and Ou Ming were first-time parents, so they naturally didn’t know how to take care of a baby properly.

Changing the baby’s diapers, feeding the baby, waking the sleeping baby to feed her milk…

Everything was so new, but it would come naturally with time.

After five days in the hospital, Yu Lili felt much better.

She soon checked out of the hospital and was sent back home. By then, Yu Lili had relaxed significantly.

The baby was always sleepy. Besides the times when she ate, she slept all day.

The time she spent awake was actually quite short. At one point, Ou Ming thought his child might be a bit… slow.

But later he heard that it was normal for a baby to be lethargic, so he let his worries go.

It’d been a long time since Ye Qianqian and Yu Lili last met in person.

Ye Qianqian had heard they now had a daughter in their family, and she felt very envious.

Ye Qianqian and Shen Zhilie came to Ou Ming’s house with lots of gifts.

Yu Lili was still in the process of recovering, and Ou Ming’s mother kept a strict guard over the house. Yu Lili wasn’t allowed to leave her room.

Shen Zhilie couldn’t see anyone at all. Ye Qianqian didn’t want to enter their bedroom, so she just played with the baby in the living room.

The newborn baby’s skin was a soft shade of pink, and it was so transparent that her blood vessels were visible.

Little Xiaoxiao’s skin was very fair, just like Yu Lili’s. She looked beautiful and cute, and she had long eyelashes.

Watching the little baby sleep with its eyes closed, Ye Qianqian’s heart felt close to bursting.

“She is so lovely. Old Shen, look!” Ye Qianqian held Xiaoxiao. “She looks so much like Lili.”

Shen Zhilie examined the child’s face, which was obviously not yet fully developed. He mumbled, “How did you arrive at that conclusion? They both have two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, but that’s it.”

The little face was very young.

Her facial features definitely looked delicate, but put together, they weren’t very distinguishable.

“She does. Look!” Ye Qianqian kept studying the baby’s face and said with certainty, “Look. She looks just like Ou Ming too. Look at her nose.”

“Ou Ming has a tall nose, and the baby’s nose hasn’t grown in yet. How can you tell if they look similar?”

Ye Qianqian stared at him and said, “Can’t you have a little imagination? Look at the shape of her nose and how it looks just like his. And look at how long her eyelashes are and how tiny her mouth is. Lili’s are the same.”

“…Well, whatever you say, then,” Shen Zhilie answered.

Nearby, Ou Ming was watching them bicker. He came forward to take his daughter back and said, “Of course my daughter looks just like me. They say that daughters resemble their fathers. I can’t exactly see the resemblance now, but when she grows up a little, she’ll definitely be a pretty girl.”

“If she looks like you, she probably won’t grow into a beauty.” Shen Zhilie leaned on the sofa. “It’s Lili who’s pretty.”

“Well, you should hope your children don’t look like you either. Ye Qianqian is lovely, but if your child looks like you, she’ll be ruined.” Ou Ming was playing with his daughter and didn’t so much as raise an eyebrow. “Don’t you think I’m right, Xiaoxiao?”

Ye Qianqian smiled and said, “Ou Ming, can you bring your wife out here so I can talk to her?”

“Go in. It’s all right. There’s nothing indecent inside.” Ou Ming glanced at her. “It’s been less than a week since Xiaoxiao was born.”

So… they couldn’t share a room?

Understanding the meaning behind his words, Ye Qianqian thought it was funny. She had been overthinking things. After pondering a bit, she stood up and said, “I’ll go in there.”
