Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 970: Chapter 766: Reasonable Modification of the Star Gemstone Crown

The relentless battle of the Undead Tribe finally took a pause, ending marvelously… The ‘Snow Cloud Peak’ commander, who had once sworn to settle scores with those inept warriors after the battle, fell into complete silence.

Even the cleanup work was handled by clan leaders from other families.

In the end, they decided to rest for a day in that cavern, as it was impossible for the Undead Tribe to immediately march after such an intense battle…

This applied to the major families as well; no one could demand such harsh conditions from their family members.

The clan leaders of the Undead Tribe dragged the mage commander, who refused to face reality and remained in the Alchemy Carriage, along with the carriage, to a corner. They unfolded a map about eight meters square, pointing and discussing.

They were likely trying to find a place to set up the first Revival Point, as the size of the cavern was decent. However, William would never agree to establish a camp so close.

Hill gazed at the map, recognizing the materials used to weave it: first, moonlight was woven into long threads, then these threads were covered with dust made from Space Crystals, nearly invisible to the naked eye, finally crafted by a deity well-versed in making three-dimensional maps… Hmm?

Could it be that William wove it himself?

Though knowing the chances were slim, Hill still smiled joyfully at this speculation.

He figured William should have a sunlight map in his possession, specifically for use in the overworld… Of course, both were from those two of Teraxil.

No matter who it was, anyone who knew of the Moon Goddess and Sun God of Toril and compared them to those two from Teraxil would sincerely appreciate the generosity of fate.

However, Hill did have some opinions on this… likely related to the differing personalities of the Creator.

The simplest function of such a map is to perceive the surrounding terrain, automatically recording as the Undead Tribe advances, even displaying the latest layout of buildings and streets in the cities they pass through.

Most importantly, the map can also record information on various people encountered… if no special defensive measures against Detection Magic were in place, even someone as powerful as Hill could be seen on the map… The Undead Tribe is madly fond of such maps; if William didn’t strictly use them as task items and refused to sell them openly, some Undead would undoubtedly spend a fortune to buy one.

If their world also had a certain dark fairy tale, Hill could understand their excitement… Though this thing has a peculiar sense of familiarity, similar books can be found in Candlekeep’s library. Hill once attempted to purchase one but was refused.

Probably because that book was “The Complete Book of Deepwater City,” and they didn’t want to give a map book capable of revealing the location of the Masked Lord to someone like Hill, who was obviously hostile to Deepwater City… If the book weren’t so famous, they might have sold it, but Candlekeep had to maintain their facade of neutrality at least on the surface.

Hill’s intentions weren’t as complex as they imagined; he simply wanted it… Tracking Magic is not so easy. Objects like that map booklet of Deepwater City are bound to the foundation of the entire city; otherwise, it wouldn’t be able to show even the latest strangers entering, despite being placed in Candlekeep.

And then there’s this large Divine Artifact created by Teraxil Divinity… Despite its lightweight appearance, it requires a collaboration of deities from different God Systems: each such High-Level Divine Artifact excels in certain aspects surpassing all else.

In Toril, such cross-system deity collaboration is usually to create tools of murder or tools to counter the enemy’s murderous tools… Each appearance signifies bloody storms.

Hill couldn’t help but smile at everything on the giant screen, a subtle pride surging in his heart, a praise for his homeland… Even though he still yearned for the beautiful world of long ago, Teraxil was the home he acknowledged!

The Undead Tribe released rows of Alchemy Huts in the cavern and began their rest, occasionally some energetic ones cavorting around the bonfire… The Little Fairies soon grew restless, although they couldn’t perform the full ceremonial rituals, they still hoped to sing and dance around the Fairy Tree where Oberon slept.

They could immediately come in once there were new developments… just avoiding the contest of the Spring Goddess’ beauty.

This is the reason they reached a consensus on giving up making wreaths beforehand… As long as one Little Fairy wore a wreath, competitiveness would drive them to start a beauty contest without hesitation.

Hill watched their swiftly flying figures. Queen Vila mentioned when talking about the Little Fairies’ Four Seasons Festival that the foreign Little Fairies didn’t arrive at Agleya for this year’s Spring Festival in time, but many would come for the Summer Solstice Festival, so she wanted to start building the Fairy Garden on the clearing below the Floating Castle now.

Of course, Hill wouldn’t refuse her, so he also received a formal invitation… There are still 4 months until the Summer Solstice, and Vila has already started preparing the guest list.

This made Hill deeply understand the importance of the Summer Solstice Festival to the Little Fairies… He somewhat suspected that Vila wanted to ascend the throne at that time.

For the Little Fairies, only by sitting on the throne can one be a true ruler.

Hill subtly asked Vila why the Fairy Queen’s throne was so special, and then he realized that their throne was not a product of gold, but was created by the first Little Fairy Queen using every gemstone and flower she could find. Every corner of the throne was filled with her powerful Force of Nature: this was the reason why subsequent Fairy Queens, even if they were not as powerful as the first queen, still maintained firm control over the Joyous Court.

Hill sighed, took out all the gemstones from his bag. Although Vila had previously exchanged many types of gemstones with him for honey brewed by Flower Fairies, Hill didn’t take out the treasures he got from adventures in other worlds to exchange with her, instead using only what he gained in Toril… For him, even when passing by some deep underground gem veins, Hill could easily acquire them without even alerting certain underground residents guarding the veins.

Therefore, when trading with people, he mostly used local specialties… as well as metals that were similar in every world.

Hill always liked to keep a little, after all, in this world of Toril, anything could happen.

Hill thought for a moment and took out the pair of Princess Star Gemstone Crowns he acquired on this trip. Although these crowns later ended up in the hands of a Succubus for a long time, in some sense, that Whispering Queen’s power was much greater than the first owner’s.

In Toril, jewelry with such a concept is the best Alchemical Materials… Hill took out his carving knife and began engraving runic arrays on the golden ring: for the Little Fairies, he couldn’t help much with the most important throne, but he could help a little with something else, like enhancing a literal ‘charm’.

So that all the Little Fairies, when seeing Vila, would think she was incomparably beautiful… This was enough to make those who only cared about appearances fall at Vila’s petal dress.

Hill rubbed his hands together, turned back to pull out his secretly hidden pink Magic Book from the desk… Well, actually, this book of various peculiar little magics from the Love and Beauty Goddess Church didn’t contain anything too private, but the illustrations were a bit nerve-wracking.

So Hill had to hide it.

But all the little magics that make people look more beautiful and attractive could actually be found in this book… Hill previously felt no need to learn them, so after flipping a few pages and finding it intolerable, he put it away.

Hill furtively looked up, ensuring the Little Fairies were all holding hands and singing the Song of Spring around the big tree, then quickly flipped to the spells he wanted.

Half an hour later, Hill placed the pink Magic Book back in the drawer protected by secret magic, confidently started engraving some Charm Domain spells.

The nodes of these spells had to be embedded with gemstones related to charm… Because of Shuni, they were mostly in the red series, which matched perfectly with those three Starry Rubies.

Finally, he engraved an adaptation array on the outermost part of the golden ring… It can enlarge or shrink with Vila’s body size, making the weight almost nonexistent, and allowing this ring to firmly attach to her head, unable to be removed by anyone but herself.

The original appearances of the two golden rings were similar, but Hill intentionally used various rune patterns to make them look completely different, each with its own beauty, one embedded with diamonds, the other with teardrop-shaped gemstones.

He placed the two golden rings into a small exquisite space box, then filled the empty space with some gemstones Vila might not have, completing the Summer Solstice gift for Queen Vila.

Hill stared at the jewelry box, silently sighed, and forcefully closed the lid… This was the only thing he could do for Vila, he genuinely hoped his friend would one day return, so he specially engraved runes that could enhance mental resistance on these crowns, which could keep one’s mind clear if worn for a long time.

He concealed all this beneath those flashy charm runes… He just hoped his little friend could still fly freely in the future.

Hill gently lifted his head, and the Clan Leaders on the screen finally made a decision… They had already found out what the humanoid species that attacked them was, so they were eager to check out the camp of those monsters.

They considered that the Stone-blind Barbarians were once humans, so the location of the camp must have some value. If the distance was suitable, it would be even better, so now they were initiating a full vote, preparing to set off if more than half the people wanted to go.
