Supreme Sword Exalt

Chapter 264 - What She’s Called Doesn’t Matter, She’s Just My Ah Sha

Steward Yue sighed. “Young Master, I must take the young lady away today. No one can stop me. Moreover, you cannot solve her problem. Only by returning can she be kept safe.”

Gu Han remained silent. He understood what Steward Yue said was the truth. As if he could stop someone who could bend the sky to his will anyway.

His heart ached as he saw Ah Sha sleeping peacefully within the black crystal. “I have a few questions.”

“Young Master, please ask.”

“This young miss and son-in-law you speak of, are they Ah Sha’s parents?”

“Yes.”

“Where are they now?”

Steward Yue didn’t speak, as the answer was more than obvious.

“Who did it?”

“The old ancestor is currently investigating. It can’t be any other than those few rivals.”

Gu Han was silent for a moment. “If Ah Sha goes back, will she be safe?”

Steward Yue’s expression turned solemn. “Absolutely! Young Lady is of great significance to my clan. The precious accident merely happened because some insignificant scoundrels seized an opportunity while the old ancestor was in seclusion. This time, the old ancestor will personally protect her. No one will be able to harm a single hair on her head!”

Gu Han understood very well. “Thank you.”

Steward Yue’s status and cultivation alone were proof enough. In fact, the old man could have taken Ah Sha away on the spot, and Gu Han would have had no way to stop him. However, the other party still tried to reassure him.

Gu Han took a deep breath. “One last question. Where are you taking Ah Sha?”

Steward Yue was silent for a moment. “Young Master, this is very dangerous information.”

While his courtesy to others was born of habit, what he showed Gu Han was sincere. After all, not only had Gu Han saved Ah Sha, his relationship with her was far better than expected. That was why Steward Yue earnestly answered every one of Gu Han’s inquiries, except this one.

Gu Han pressed further. “What do you mean?”

Steward Yue shook his head. “Young Master, for both your safety and the young lady’s sake, it’s better you don’t ask.”

Although Gu Han appeared to be on the verge of death, Steward Yue still didn’t dare gamble.

Gu Han’s tone turned slightly cold. “Oh? The esteemed Yue Clan is afraid of people knowing its location? If you don’t tell me, does that mean I won’t be able to find it?”

For the first time, a look of astonishment appeared on Steward Yue’s face. “What... How do you know about our clan?”

Even within the starry sky, their clan’s reputation wasn’t widely known, and few had heard of them. How could a dying cripple from such a remote land possibly know this? For a moment, dangerous thoughts arose in Steward Yue’s heart. However, he immediately suppressed them. He couldn’t repay kindness with enmity.

Steward Yue let out a long sigh. “Young Master, please don’t make things difficult for me. In the future, even if you have the chance, do not go looking for the young lady. Remember this well. I will now—”

Suddenly, a soft sound came from not too far away.

Everyone subconsciously looked over. Someone else?

Not far off, they saw an elderly man with his eyes tightly shut, a hunched waist, and withered skin. Supported by a smooth, well-polished wooden stick, he advanced toward them one step at a time. The old man seemed to have been blind for a long time. Walking very slowly and with great difficulty, he swayed unsteadily, making one worry he would collapse at any moment.

On the clouds, the Tiansheng hall master and Heavenly Demon valley master exchanged a glance, nearly tumbling off. Why did he come as well?!

A moment later, the elderly man finally arrived before everyone. Suddenly, he stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.

Yun Fan subconsciously quickly moved to support him. “Old sir, are you alright?”

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” The old man coughed a few times, sighing softly at Yun Fan. “It seems I came too late, little one. How did you end up like this?”

Yun Fan was baffled. I’m perfectly fine, though? Old sir, did you mistake me for someone?

Gu Han bowed in salute. “Greetings, Senior. I will never forget your kindness in lending me the sword!”

The old man seemed to finally lock onto Gu Han, tilting his head with some emotion. “No worries. The sword was there. You being able to borrow it is your own skill. It has little to do with me.”

Yun Fan was stunned. Acting on a whim, he reached out and waved his hand a few times in front of the old man’s eyes.

The old man chuckled softly. “Stop waving. I really am blind.”

Yun Fan was even more baffled. So, can you see, or can you not see...?

At this moment, Steward Yue’s expression was unprecedentedly grave. Others couldn’t tell, but he could sense it. Outwardly, the old man seemed decayed, his lifespan nearly exhausted. Yet inside, it was as if he harbored a majestic, unparalleled, world-dominating sword intent. Even though it was only one sword, it could sever all things in heaven, earth, sun, moon, and stars.

Steward Yue didn’t dare act presumptuously. “Fellow Daoist, may I ask your esteemed name?”

The old man shook his head, caressing the wooden stick. “I’m just a man about to die. What use is a name? I forgot it long ago. As for you, sir, the might of your recent strike was truly extraordinary!”

Steward Yue was silent for a moment. “Fellow Daoist, do you also believe I was indiscriminately killing the innocent?”

The old man smiled. “Indiscriminate killing? Even though I can’t see, my heart can. It’s just that I can no longer lift my sword. Otherwise, when would such insignificant scoundrels need you to deal with them?”

In his words, unfathomable pride radiated, momentarily reviving some of the former Profound Heaven sword chief’s domineering aura.

Above, the Tiansheng hall master twitched. You can no longer lift your sword? What a joke!

He had a deeper understanding of the old man’s strength than others. After all, he had been nearby when Chu Kuang was severed. The terror of that one sword was still unforgettable to him.

The blind old man changed the subject. “Actually, what the little one said is right. Even if you don’t tell him, he’ll be able to find the location of the Yue Clan in the future. It’ll just take a bit more effort. Why must you play the villain here?”

Steward Yue fell silent. The blind old man had obviously arrived earlier and heard their entire conversation. He had only appeared now to back Gu Han up. Though he could slay three Saint Realm cultivators without effort, Steward Yue dared not make a move on the blind old man.

Steward Yue glanced at Gu Han with a complex expression. From indifference to gratitude, and now to deep regard, his impression of Gu Han had changed again and again. Perhaps...

After a long silence, he sighed. “Enough. Canglan Ancient Realm, Yue Clan. If you live to see another day, inquire carefully and you will find it.”

Gu Han nodded. “Thank you. I’ll remember this.”

Steward Yue’s tone shifted sincerely. “Young Master, will you listen to a piece of advice from me?”

Gu Han frowned deeply. “Please, speak.”

“Absolutely do not come if you’re not strong enough.”

“Why?”

Steward Yue was somewhat desolate. “It involves the secrets of the Yue Clan. Forgive me for not being able to speak freely. Still, remember that the stronger you are, the safer it will be when you and the young lady meet in the future. Otherwise, the two of you will face great danger.”

“Then Ah Sha—”

“She’ll remain safe so long as you do not come.”

Gu Han automatically ignored this sentence. He walked over to Ah Sha, looking at her sleeping face.

Subconsciously, he patted her head, but his fingers only met icy coldness. “Ah Sha, don’t worry. I will keep my promise. Even if I have to tread every corner of the world, exhaust the skies above, and penetrate the Yellow Springs below, I will definitely find you. Wait for me.”

Steward Yue sighed inwardly, looking at the blind old man. “Fellow Daoist, may I leave now?”

The blind old man was stunned. “Hmm? When did I ever try to stop you? If you wish to leave, you may do so at any time. Why must you ask me?”

Even though Steward Yue valued propriety, he felt secretly exasperated. You have me locked down with your sword intent. How can I leave!

The old man waved his hand. “Go. Even if I wanted to stop you, I lack the strength. Besides, this sword of mine wasn’t prepared for you anyway.”

Steward Yue glanced at Ah Sha, then at Gu Han. “I’m taking my leave!”

Without wasting more time, Steward Yue took a step and vanished.

Gu Han felt a sense of loss as his arm remained outstretched, motionless for a long time.

Zuo Yang patted his shoulder. “Junior Brother, you forgot to ask Ah Sha’s real name.”

Gu Han gazed forlornly toward the horizon. “There’s no need for that. What she’s called doesn’t matter. She’s just my Ah Sha.”
