Super Wingstorm

”The match has gone into extra time.”

”Both teams’ players are heavily fatigued. Many on the field can barely run anymore.”

”But we can still see that Ajax’s right winger, Yang Yang, is still very active.”

”He’s covering a lot of ground on the right flank, which is posing a significant challenge for Van Haren, who’s been tasked with man-marking him.”

”Look at this—a successful defensive play by Ajax. The ball is passed to midfield, to Sneijder.”

”Sneijder takes possession and starts looking for teammates upfield.”

”Yang Yang runs over to receive the ball and gets the pass from Sneijder.”

”Alright, Yang Yang dribbles diagonally. Let’s see what he does this time...”

”A sudden change of direction... beautiful! Yang Yang continues to dribble forward...”

”A cross with his right foot...”

”In the box, Ibrahimovic has already used his body to shield the ball from Vandenberg, controlling the pass...”

”Oh, no, the Swedish Striker’s first touch was too heavy.”

”The quality of Yang Yang’s cross was quite good, and the delivery was comfortable, but unfortunately, the Swedish Striker is too exhausted. His technical movements are getting a bit sloppy. He couldn’t control the ball cleanly; his first touch was a bit heavy, and the recovering Fan Wendelun quickly cleared it with a big kick. Ajax misses a very good attacking opportunity.”

...

”Ajax still has possession.”

”Passing it around in midfield... Van der Vaart... a sudden pass out wide.”

”Yang Yang runs to the center to receive it, passes to Ibrahimovic, who knocks it back...”

”There’s a chance, Yang Yang sprints...”

”FWEEET!!!”

”The referee has blown the whistle for a foul! It’s been called on Feyenoord’s left-back, Van Haren.”

”That was a beautiful one-two between Yang Yang and Ibrahimovic just now. The two seem to have great chemistry. Van Haren had lost his defensive position and had no choice but to commit the foul, giving Ajax a free kick on the right side of the attack.”

”The referee calls Van Haren over and gives him a yellow card.”

”It’s clear the referee has had enough of Van Haren’s repeated fouls.”

”Let’s see what Ajax does with this free kick. Both Sneijder and Yang Yang are standing over the ball.”

”Currently, Ajax’s biggest aerial threat is Ibrahimovic. Wesley Sonck is also great at attacking the ball, but the rest of their players are generally shorter than their opponents, which makes it difficult for Ajax to pose a threat from set pieces.”

”But it all depends on how they take this one.”

”Sneijder... fakes a run-up... and it’s Yang Yang who will take it...”

”He kicks it into the box, aiming for the near post...”

”Wesley Sonck with a header from close range...”

”The ball deflects off a Feyenoord defender and goes out for a corner. It’s still an Ajax corner kick.”

”And it’s Yang Yang who will take the corner kick.”

...

...

The air in the entire Amsterdam Arena seemed to have frozen solid.

Yang Yang was drenched in sweat, looking as if he’d just been pulled out of water, but he paid it no mind.

He casually wiped the sweat from his face, and his hand came away soaked.

He had already placed the ball in the corner arc, patting down the turf.

He stood ramrod straight on the sideline, hands on his hips, breathing heavily. He hoped to control his breathing and keep it steady for the kick, ensuring everything was in its optimal state.

In the penalty area, players from both teams were a chaotic mess.

Feyenoord was clearly wary of Ibrahimovic; the Swedish Striker’s height was an undeniable and intimidating presence in the box. At the same time, Wesley Sonck, who had just attacked the near post, was also a key player for them to mark.

The Belgian forward wasn’t tall, but he was excellent at heading the ball and getting into scoring positions.

Vermaelen, Heitinga, De Jong, and other players who were around 1.8 meters tall were also being marked by Feyenoord’s defense.

While chaos reigned in the box, the fans in the stands also held their breath, watching the pitch in silence.

After sorting things out in the penalty area, the referee quickly backed out of the box and blew the whistle to signal that the kick could be taken.

In the box, both sides were intently watching Yang Yang’s every move. But Yang Yang, in the corner, slowly raised his right hand, not all the way, but only halfway before putting it down.

With a THWACK heard across the pitch, Yang Yang quickly took the corner.

Everyone scrambled. Ibrahimovic made a quick run to the near post, while Wesley Sonck and Heitinga pushed toward the far post. The Feyenoord defenders could only follow them closely while trying to judge the ball’s trajectory.

Near post? Or far post?

Neither!

It was the center!

Feyenoord’s goalkeeper, Zoetebier, reacted quickly, but just then, a figure in white shot forward from near the penalty spot, leaped high into the air, and met the descending ball with his head.

The ball, curving slightly, struck his head and changed direction in a flash, rocketing into the bottom-left corner of the goal.

Zoetebier dove in a desperate attempt to save it, but he couldn’t stop the ball from finding the back of the net.

”GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!”

”Ajax scores from the corner kick!”

”My God! In the 109th minute of extra time, Feyenoord left a man unmarked on the corner kick, and the Belgian center-back Vermaelen, making his debut for Ajax, scores with a header from the middle!”

The entire Amsterdam Arena erupted in a frenzy of cheers. In an instant, every fan was on their feet, screaming their lungs out.

On the sideline, head coach Ronald Koeman leaped up from the ground, wildly waving his arms and roaring, unleashing all his pent-up excitement and elation.

At this moment in the game, this goal was absolutely crucial!

On the pitch, after scoring, Vermaelen first clutched his head with both hands, an expression of disbelief on his face. But he quickly snapped out of it, dodged his other teammates, and rushed to Yang Yang. He lifted his roommate into the air, shouting over and over, ”I knew you’d see me! I knew it! I always knew it!”

By the end, the Belgian was so hoarse it was hard to tell if he was screaming or sobbing.

The only thing Yang Yang was sure of was that he was crying.

To score such a critical goal in his professional first-team debut—he was just too excited, too emotional.

”The quality of Yang Yang’s corner was superb, and Vermaelen’s timing to attack the ball was perfect. At the same time, the coordination from the Ajax players was spot-on. Ibrahimovic and Wesley Sonck pulled the Feyenoord defenders to the near and far posts, respectively, creating a gap in the middle that Vermaelen exploited perfectly.”

”That was a brilliant corner kick routine, and Ajax has scored again at a critical moment.”

”The hero of the goal is the Belgian center-back Vermaelen, who has been rock-solid since coming on as a substitute. I believe that after this match, his ability will gradually earn Ronald Koeman’s approval, and he’ll get more opportunities.”

”But we shouldn’t forget the unsung hero behind Vermaelen, and that is number ninety-nine, Yang Yang.”

”He has saved Ajax once again. From the sharp dribble that won the free kick, to the free kick that led to the corner, to this goal from the corner itself—he has been at the heart of it all.”

”The Feyenoord players look utterly dejected. Kuyt and others are urging the referee, pointing out that the Ajax players are taking too long to celebrate on the sideline.”

”According to the rules, players from both teams must return to their own halves and get into position before the match can restart. But right now, Ajax is clearly using the goal celebration as an opportunity to deliberately waste time.”

”Haha, the referee is now going over to hurry them along, but the Ajax players still seem to be savoring the moment.”

...

...

The match restarted.

Now leading 2-1, Ajax began to defend with their entire team.

Even the right winger, Yang Yang, dropped back into his own half.

With no other option, Feyenoord went for broke. Everyone pushed forward in a frantic attack, hoping to take advantage of any lapse after Ajax’s goal to equalize quickly.

Now, their thoughts were no longer on defeating their opponent, but on how to equalize and drag the match into a penalty shootout. If they could just get to a shootout, Feyenoord would still have a chance to win.

Having been meticulously drilled by Ronald Koeman, Ajax’s defense was tightly organized. Although the players were immensely fatigued, they were still able to maintain a compact formation, giving Feyenoord few opportunities.

In contrast, the visiting team, desperate to equalize, pushed up in large numbers, inevitably leaving gaps in their defensive line.

Less than two minutes after the last goal, Ajax won the ball in midfield. Sneijder quickly played a long ball over the top, sending it behind the Feyenoord defensive line.

Yang Yang, who had been waiting for this moment, shot off like an arrow released from a bow. He quickly shook off the clinging Van Haren, chased the ball at top speed, and reached it just before Fan Wendelun.

Sneijder knew Yang Yang’s strengths perfectly. The pass was weighted beautifully, slowing down after it bounced, allowing Yang Yang to run onto it and continue surging forward with long strides.

Fan Wendelun also tracked back very quickly, catching up to Yang Yang just outside the penalty area.

But just as Fan Wendelun thought he had him contained, Yang Yang suddenly put on another burst of speed, unbelievably pulling ahead once more.

Seeing Yang Yang about to break into the box with the ball for a one-on-one with the keeper, Fan Wendelun had almost no choice. From behind, he grabbed Yang Yang’s jersey, gave it a sharp tug, and immediately let go. This instantly threw Yang Yang off balance, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Fan Wendelun then used the opportunity to catch up to the ball and gently passed it to his goalkeeper.

Just when he thought he had gotten away with it, the referee blew the whistle for a foul again and, without hesitation, pointed to the penalty spot.

The entire stadium roared in celebration.

This was definitely the penalty that would kill the game.

If Ajax scored this penalty, a 3-1 scoreline would completely crush any hope for Feyenoord.

Not only that, but the referee also called Fan Wendelun over and showed him a red card. It was a professional foul, and as the last man back, it was a clear red card and penalty. No escaping that.

Fan Wendelun didn’t argue. He just shrugged, nodded at his goalkeeper as if to say, ’It’s all on you now,’ and walked off the pitch with a look of resignation.
