Chapter 92: The Secret of the Predecessor, Inexplicable KindnessChapter 92: The Secret of the Predecessor, Inexplicable Kindness

”I was very nervous at the time, wondering if he was...” Su Xueqi suddenly stopped talking here.

”What’s wrong?” Rorschach was a little surprised.

”How about you just take a look at it, boss?” Su Xueqi suggested.

After being reminded by Su Xueqi, Luo Xia remembered that as his attendant, Su Xueqi could indeed show him the memory directly.

If you look at it directly, it will definitely be clearer than just describing it.

”Okay.” Rorschach nodded.

Upon hearing this, Su Xueqi immediately closed her eyes and passed that memory to Rorschach, and Rorschach also closed his eyes and watched.

……

After Rorschach absorbed the memories transmitted by Su Xueqi, he appeared outside a room directly from Su Xueqi’s first-person perspective.

It’s a wonderful experience, like VR first-person perspective, but much more real than that feeling.

dong dong dong-

Rorschach saw ’himself’ knocking on the door.

Then, Rex’s familiar voice came from the room: ”Come in.”

I immediately opened the door and walked in.

Rorschach could even feel his own heartbeat speeding up, and these were obviously what Su Xueqi felt at the time. After all, what was felt in the memory was not just vision and hearing, but also other senses.

Including the accelerated heartbeat caused by tension!
When Rorschach saw Rex from Su Xueqi’s perspective, the other party said something that shocked Rorschach:

”You’re a Displacer too, right, Stephanie?”

At this moment, Luo Xia seemed to feel that his breathing had stopped, and his true feelings were actually no less than Su Xueqi’s.

When the word ”displacer” came out of the mouth of a ’native’ in their eyes, especially when this ’native’ was a gold-level strongman, the feeling was so chilling that it could not be described!

Rorschach asked himself, if he were put in Su Xueqi’s situation, he might have performed worse than Su Xueqi.

Because he had been with Rex for such a long time, but he had never heard Rex mention the evil spirits from other worlds, let alone the word ”displacer”.

Being able to say this word means that one has a certain understanding of the group of displacers, and it is not just that one has noticed something is wrong.

How could Rorschach not be shocked?

”Senior...” Rorschach could hear that his voice was trembling slightly, and even though he tried his best to calm down, it was of no avail.

Luo Xia was not surprised by this, nor did he think that Su Xueqi’s performance was bad, because this kind of reaction was normal.

Even if Su Xueqi was replaced by a madman like Abel who was not afraid of death, it would be difficult for her to have no reaction at all when faced with such a situation.

Rex didn’t wait for Su Xueqi to finish her words and continued, ”You don’t have to be too nervous. As early as the first time you met Rorschach, I guessed that you were also a Displacer, um, just like that troublesome brat.”

”If you knew all this a long time ago, why didn’t you take action?” Rorschach heard ’himself’ ask in a somewhat hurried voice.

The urgency here is obviously due to nervousness rather than anxiety.

Su Xueqi’s answer also meant that she tacitly agreed with Rex’s statement and acknowledged her identity as a replacer.

The main thing was that she understood that it didn’t make much difference whether she admitted it or not. When Rex asked her so bluntly, she already had the answer in her heart.

Combined with her previous reaction, this point is basically confirmed.

No matter how much she tried to argue now, it would be in vain. It would be better to avoid those unnecessary embarrassment.

”Action?” Rex shook his head and chuckled. ”Why should we attack? Is it just because you are from another world? If we kill people from other worlds, then shouldn’t the people who should be killed the most be those visitors from the Gray Tower who regard us as lowly insects?”

indeed!

Rorschach couldn’t help but give Rex a thumbs up in his heart, because these words suddenly opened up the whole situation and did make sense.

To the people of the Grey Domain, it is true that the Displacers are outsiders, but so are visitors to the Grey Tower like Jack?
If everyone from a foreigner should be killed, then people like Jack should be killed as well!

However, Su Xueqi was obviously a little bit unconvinced by this answer, so Rorschach immediately heard ’himself’ ask:
”It’s not that I don’t believe what you said, but if you have some understanding of our group, you should know that our highest mortality rate is when we first arrive. Once we are found to have a problem, we will be killed immediately. This situation is not an isolated case, right?”

”Of course it’s not an isolated case.” Rex said calmly, ”But this has nothing to do with you coming from another world, because for those who were replaced by you, it is equivalent to being killed by you, and as their family members, isn’t it natural to avenge your relatives and friends? What does this have to do with whether you are from another world?”

”...”

Rorschach admitted that he was convinced, and he could feel that Su Xueqi was also convinced.

The people of the Gray Domain are extremely repulsive to evil spirits from other realms, and will kill them without mercy if they are discovered... This is the consensus of most of the Replacers, including what Gao Tianlin told Luo Xia when he was awakening his spirit.

But if you look at it from the perspective that Rex said, this matter might not be that complicated.

The hostility of the people in the Gray Realm towards the so-called evil spirits from other realms mostly comes from the fact that their relatives and friends have been harmed, which is why they are so extreme.

If it is simply because the displacer is from another world, the people of the Gray Domain might not care that much, just like when facing visitors from the Gray Tower.

The Gray Region has been in constant war for many years, and the blood debts between the three empires are simply innumerable. The number of people replaced by the Replacers is not enough to cover the consumption of a war between the three empires.

”If you are considered as one group, and the other two groups are the remnants of the evil god and the visitors from the Grey Tower, the harm you have brought to the Grey Region is not even worthy of carrying their shoes.” Rex said lightly.

Ok.

I have to say, there is indeed something wrong with what Rex said.

Rorschach personally witnessed the struggle between the remnants of the evil god and the visitors from the Gray Tower. Neither side regarded ordinary people in the Gray Domain as human beings. It was just that one was cannibalistic, and the other was cannibalistic.

Essentially, they all view the Gray Realm beings as livestock.

On the contrary, among the Displacers, although there are some murderers, most of them live cautiously in order to avoid having their identities discovered.

Overall, this group of people does not have much negative impact on the Gray Domain, and is not as difficult to deal with as the other two groups.

Sometimes, the Displacers are even more obedient to the rules than the Grey Domain ’natives’, because these are things ingrained in their bones.

When Rex said this, Rorschach actually understood what he meant.

To the real superiors in the Gray Domain, especially the three empires, the Replacers are not some terrible beast in their eyes.

Of course, there is a premise here, that is, gold level and above cannot be replaced, which is also the current consensus.

Otherwise, those in higher positions would definitely not be able to sit still.

However, what Rex said only proved that the people of the Gray Domain would not be hostile to the Replacers for no reason.

But the thing is, Rorschach replaced his predecessor!
His predecessor basically grew up in Dusk Village eating food from many families. His arrival is equivalent to killing his predecessor. Will Rex not care?
Rorschach was skeptical.

When Luo Xia was thinking about Rex’s idea, he only heard Rex in this memory continue to say to Su Xueqi: ”As for that brat Luo Xia, he probably thought he was disguised very well, but he didn’t know that he was discovered by his father in the village. His father even came to find me for this reason.”

”Village, what village?” Rorschach heard ’himself’ ask.

Rex also realized at this time that Rorschach had not told Su Xueqi about the Dusk Village. He immediately shook his head and smiled:

”Don’t worry about the village. Just help me pass the message to him. Tell him that I have known for a long time that he is a Displacer. Not only do I know, but his father also knows. It was his father who discovered it.”

”At that time, his father came to me privately. In addition to leaving him the item, another very important reason was to tell me this matter and ask me not to be hostile to him because of his identity as a replacement, because the original Rorschach was not a real life individual.”

”Not a real life entity...what does that mean?” Rorschach could sense that ’he’ was confused.

”Don’t worry about what it means.” Rex shook his head and said, ”I know you should be able to meet in your world soon. Just remember to tell him what I just said.” ”Also, tell him that it is up to him whether to believe me or not. Whether he comes back or not, it will not affect you. Tell him not to worry.”

……

The memory ends here.

When Rorschach opened his eyes again, he was speechless for a long time.

”Is it shocking?” Su Xueqi asked with a smile.

”What do you think?” Rorschach asked thoughtfully.

”About you, boss, and your background, I don’t know much and it’s hard for me to judge, but regarding the fact that the people in the Gray Domain don’t kill all the displacers, I think what he said makes sense.” Su Xueqi expressed her own opinion.

Rorschach nodded, not surprised.

There is definitely no problem with the first part of what Rex said. This can be verified again when combined with the tacit understanding between the seven and the three empires that Depp mentioned to him before.

The real superiors in the Gray Domain never think that the existence of the Replacers is a crisis, because the Gray Domain itself has all kinds of crises.

The addition of one more group of replacers will not affect the overall situation.

What’s more, those top replacers had obviously already reached some unwritten agreements with the three empires, which led to the current situation where the three empires turned a blind eye to the appearance of replacers and pretended they did not exist.

However, what really concerned Rorschach were Rex’s last few words.

If it was true as Rex said, then his cheap father, Zeus, had obviously discovered long ago that he was a replacer, but did not expose it.

Not only did he not expose it, but he also privately approached Rex and told him not to care about his identity as a replacer.

As for the reason, it sounds like it is related to the special nature of the predecessor. If we understand it only from the literal meaning, there is some secret in the predecessor.

It was precisely because of the secret of his predecessor that his cheap father, Xiusi, was able to discover at the first moment that he was no longer his predecessor.

But also because of this secret, cheap father Zeus didn’t seem to care that he had ”taken over” his predecessor. Instead, he specifically told Rex not to care about the fact that Rorschach was a replacer.

Of course, Rorschach also understood that these were just Rex’s unilateral statements, and whether they were true or false still needed further judgment.

But when he thought about it carefully, everything seemed to be right.

He had long doubted whether his acting skills, which were not very superb at the time, could really deceive the wizard Zeus?
This question once made him terrified when he thought about it carefully, but later he couldn’t figure it out so he had to stop thinking about it for the time being.

It was not until he learned the behind-the-scenes story from Rex that he was finally convinced that Hughes had indeed seen that there was something wrong with him a long time ago.

From this point of view, what Rex said should be true.

In addition, Rorschach had also long been aware of the secrets surrounding his predecessor.

Long before he merged the blood of Purgatory, the Eye of True Vision had already hinted at his own peculiarities!

At that time, he had thought about what this particularity meant.

Is it his identity as a replacer that gives him the ability to ignore his bloodline level, or is it the Eye of True Sight that gives him this ability, or is it that there is some kind of specialness in his predecessor that benefits him?
These three possibilities all existed in Rorschach’s eyes at the time.

Later, as I learned more and more, the first possibility could naturally be ruled out.

But he really couldn’t tell the second and third possibilities apart.

But now, he suddenly found the real source of that specialness from Rex’s words...it was the specialness of his predecessor!
This is most likely related to the secret of the previous incarnation.

However, it was obviously not enough to fully understand the situation based on the few words Rex conveyed.

After solving the mystery of himself, Rorschach actually believed what Rex said. He really knew that Rorschach was a replacer a long time ago, and it was really Zeus who told him.

The only thing that Rorschach is not sure of at the moment is what the purpose of his cheap father Zeus is?
Even if there was really something wrong with his predecessor, he is now equivalent to a person from another world and has directly replaced his predecessor.

Even if Zeus and his predecessor are not biological father and son, and Zeus doesn’t care about his predecessor’s life or death, that doesn’t mean that Zeus should be kind to this visitor from another world, right?

Rorschach understood that there must be deeper reasons behind these arrangements made by Zeus, but he had limited information and had no way of guessing.

”That’s not right. Why didn’t the damn Garbage Eyes remind me that my cheap dad already knew my identity?” Rorschach suddenly thought of a question.

It has been a long time since he called the True Prison Eye a garbage eye, because this thing has been quite powerful since it arrived in the Gray Domain.

But this incident did put him in a passive position. If he had known this earlier, he wouldn’t have to be so nervous in front of Rex all the time.

Thinking of this, he looked directly at the mirror next to him and took the initiative to observe himself in the mirror:
”Name: Rorschach”

”Race: Humanity, Purgatory Knight, Wizard Apprentice”

”Ability: Blood Prison Witch Codex: Blood Refining (True Prison Version) Lv.3, Purgatory Meditation Lv.3”

”Hint 1: Don’t you think the feeling of the unknown is the most wonderful? Well, it seems that you can’t understand my painstaking efforts, stupid mortal...”

”Hint 2: It is certain that Zeus has no ill will towards you, and what Rex said is indeed the truth. As for what Zeus’s purpose is, you need to find it out by yourself.”

”Hint 3: Your predecessor was indeed not simple”

……

”I knew it.”

Looking at the hint from True Prison Eye, Rorschach was speechless.

Rorschach could understand that the True Prison Eyes could not fully observe the information on Zeus, but Rex was also involved in this matter.

How could the True Prison Eyes not observe any cause and effect? At the very least, it could observe that Rex knew about his identity as a Displacer, but this bastard had never mentioned a word before, so Rorschach didn’t think about it at all.

In fact, Rorschach had already noticed many of the problems here.

It’s just that crucial point that he couldn’t figure out, so there are several unsolved mysteries. If Zhenyuzhitong had given some clues earlier, he would definitely not be so ignorant of the real situation like he is now.

Fortunately, this thing was quite sensible and knew that he was really angry, so it gave him a compensatory hint.

You know, the hints given by Zhenyuzhitong have always been random, and often the hints he doesn’t need are given, while the hints he needs are not given. This time is obviously an exception.

”Oh, you know what’s going on.”

After seeing the second hint from True Prison Eyes, Rorschach finally felt relieved, because this hint really helped him a lot.

From this compensatory hint, he could reassure himself that what Rex said was true, and he didn’t need to worry that this was some kind of conspiracy.

As for the last hint, Rorschach simply ignored it.

This is pure nonsense and nothing to worry about.

Even if Zhenyuzhitong was not clear about this, he knew that there was a secret about his predecessor, and he wanted to know what this secret was.

Also, why did Zeus, knowing his identity as a Substitute, still have no ill will towards him and even gave him the Purgatory Source Blood?

Even if Zeus really doesn’t know the origin of the Purgatory Source Blood, he can at least see that the Purgatory Source Blood is not simple, right?

In this case, it was undoubtedly a very strange decision to leave the Infernal Blood to Rorschach, the replacement.

But unfortunately, the True Prison Eye obviously would not tell him what he wanted to know just because of his curiosity, so he could only look for clues on his own.
