Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Paralysis

After Chen Ming discovered that the weapons of the two Conquest Levels couldn’t inflict effective damage on the Iron Ore No.

The excitement and tension of battling just now vanished without a trace.

While modifying the spaceship before, he had almost mixed White Cloud Steel into every part of the spaceship.

Even if the purity wasn’t high, it could still dent from ordinary weapons, but hitting one spot with dozens or even hundreds of shots would indeed cause sufficient damage.

But the distance of battle between spaceships already doomed this to not happen.

Once the pirates realized their weapons were ineffective against his ship’s armor, they might target his ship’s weapons instead.

But Chen Ming had already anticipated this issue before.

The cannon tower armor he installed with his own hands was made of pure White Cloud Steel.

Bullets from pirates that could only leave dents on armor mixed with 1% White Cloud Steel couldn’t possibly penetrate the cannon tower armor.

Even if their attacks could hit the Electromagnetic Spear through the cannon tower armor’s gaps.

The Electromagnetic Spear itself was primarily made of White Cloud Steel, with only a few parts using common materials mixed with White Cloud Steel.

Even if hit by a few shots, it couldn’t cause any damage to the Electromagnetic Spear.

Even if there was a one in ten million chance that it really happened, and the pirate’s weapons really paralyzed the Electromagnetic Spear.

Chen Ming could still rely on the panel to repair the Spear.

Damage and such were not a problem at all for Chen Ming.

At most, it would just waste a bit of Chen Ming’s spiritual power and time.

In front of the indestructible wall made of White Cloud Steel, the pirates had not even the slightest chance of keeping Chen Ming in this graveyard.

If they couldn’t keep Chen Ming, then Chen Ming would stay and deal with them.

At this moment, behind the Iron Ore No.

In the internal communication channel of one of the Conquest Levels.

Taking advantage of the moment when the ship’s weapons lost their precise aim due to recoil from continuous firing, requiring intermittent fire, the ship driver asked the weapon operator: ”Did you hit just now?”

The middle-aged weapon operator had wrinkles squeezed out all over his forehead.

The confidence he usually showed in front of his companions seemed to suddenly disappear, and he answered somewhat uncertainly: ”I don’t know, something feels off.”

”Maybe we should stop the pursuit, at least wait until the boss catches up, they are still in the Dark Graveyard, they can’t get out.”

The captain of this ship’s voice suddenly came through the internal communication channel, asking somewhat displeasedly: ”A civilian mining ship without even a code name, what are you afraid of?”

”I...”

”No more talking.”

The captain directly interrupted whatever the operator wanted to say and ordered: ”Continue tracking, continue firing.”

”If we don’t chase, that ship will enter the asteroid belt again, and the ship might crash, the repair costs might not be recovered!”

”Last time we got preempted by ship number 2, do you want to embarrass yourselves again this time?”

The communication channel fell silent.

”No more questions? Then do as I said!”

”Yes.”

With a few scattered responses from the communication channel, the operator’s forehead seemed to wrinkle even more.

And the driver, who had asked the first question, suddenly said: ”Wait a second, is that ship turning around?”

Amid the exchanges among the crew on Conquest Level No. 1.

Chen Ming had already completely shaken off any unnecessary emotions and began his first step of counterattack.

Before the two Conquest Levels chasing after him could rush out of the asteroid belt.

The two Electromagnetic Spears were already aimed at their position.

At this moment, the Iron Ore No. was in the Dark Graveyard, in a vast area where no asteroids were present.

Free from the impact of colliding asteroids, Chen Ming’s aim was no longer restricted.

Now was the best opportunity.

The signature thundering sound of the Electromagnetic Spear rang in Chen Ming’s ears.

And on the left rear of the Iron Ore No., the weapon operator on the Conquest Level No. 1 suddenly shouted in the communication channel: ”Port and starboard weapons are paralyzed! Repairman!”

”Changing them!”

A repairman hurriedly, along with three others, grabbed two 30mm caliber machine guns and rushed to both sides of the ship.

They immediately dismounted the damaged weapons from the ship’s pedestal.

During this process, the repairman also asked the operator: ”How was it destroyed so quickly?”

”I don’t know, their weapon seems to be a high-precision electromagnetic weapon. I’m trying evasive maneuvers, but expect no effect!”

”How does a civilian ship have such things?”

The repairman’s question had just been asked when the weapon operator suddenly shouted again: ”The upper weapon is also destroyed!”

Soon after, a voice from another repairman on standby at the stern came through the audio channel almost at the same time.

”Engine attacked! Shutdown and fire!”

”Hull breached, pressure leak, but sealed with foam canister.”

”Spare engine still...”

The repairman had only spoken halfway when suddenly there was no sound.

The communication channel fell silent until the captain gave an order.

”Quickly, someone go and check.”

With no weapons left to replace, the weapon operator immediately left the weapon station and rushed to the stern.

When he arrived next to the engine, he found the repairman who was just speaking lying face up on the ground.

A hole in his chest was bleeding profusely, clearly indicating he was no longer alive.

Beside his body, both the main engine and the spare engine had been destroyed, engulfed in raging flames.

The weapon operator quickly picked up the fire extinguisher nearby, spraying extinguishing foam at the engine.

At the same time, in a slightly trembling voice, he said in the audio channel: ”The repairman was shot dead by a bullet piercing the hull, and both our engines are broken.”

The engine fire slightly raised the ship’s temperature, yet nobody on this Conquest Level felt any warmth.

The repairman’s movements in replacing the weapon slowed down.

With others, he looked toward the blaze flickering at the stern.

The engine is the lifeline of a spaceship; engine failure means all systems will lose power supply and cease operation.

From the moment the spaceship was attacked to its end, it was merely twelve seconds.

Their spaceship was already adrift in space like a piece of scrap metal.

And those twelve seconds happened to be the interval for three rounds of firing from the Electromagnetic Spear.

At this moment, a voice from the captain’s dedicated communication channel came through from another Conquest Level captain.

”Why are you decelerating?”

The captain of Conquest Level No. 1 awoke from panic and immediately yelled in the communication channel: ”Stop pursuing! Our ship is being slaughtered like pigs!”

”What do you mean?”

The captain of Conquest Level No. 2 had just asked the question when the captain of ship No. 1 heard a commotion from their side as well.

It was the front white mining ship that changed targets after paralyzing them.

The captain’s panic turned entirely into fear.

And at this moment, their boss, the captain of the Hellhound Level still behind, finally realized something was wrong and quickly asked: ”What’s going on over there?”

The captain of No. 1 ship, like a man clutching at straws, shouted in a somewhat broken voice in the communication channel: ”Boss, there’s something wrong with the ship we’re chasing!”
