Serpent Ancestor

Hei Huang immediately stopped barking. He raised his dog head high, stood on his hind legs, and gazed into the distance.

”Sandworms?”

Xu Hei, who hadn’t been paying much attention, suddenly lit up at the mention of this word.

To him, sandworms were a great source of nourishment. Previously, it was by consuming enough sandworms that he managed to repair a strand of his meridians.

The problem was that sandworms would flee at the sight of him, and given his limited mobility, he could only lure them in like a rattlesnake before devouring them. But now, such a great opportunity presented itself.

However, when Xu Hei looked at the scene in the distance, he couldn’t help but gasp.

The ground far away was covered in a dense mass of black sandworms, forming a storm amidst the raging winds and sand, stretching as far as the eye could see.

With such a large number, it was uncertain whether he would be eating the worms or they would be eating him!

Even ants can devour an elephant when numerous enough, and with such a swarm of sandworms, they could easily drown Xu Hei.

”Everyone, be on guard! Use the insect-repelling powder and set up the Hun Tian Formation!” Yun Ling shouted.”Yes!”

The people present immediately sprang into action.

Gu Qianqian took out a large handful of powder and scattered it across the sand. As the wind blew, the yellow sand was enveloped in a layer of crimson, with a pungent odor that made one nauseous.

This was the insect-repelling powder that could drive away all insects and ants.

Xu Yanran then took out two flags, one black and one white, and planted them in two positions. Instantly, the area they were in was shrouded in thick fog, distinctly black and white, seeming both real and illusory.

The other cultivators took out a large number of spirit stones, buried them underground, and infused them into the formation flags, causing the fog to grow even denser.

”These spirit stones...”

Xu Hei stared at the spirit stones in everyone’s hands.

These weren’t Supreme Spirit Stones, nor were they high-grade ones, but something in between... half-Supreme Spirit Stones.

Such quality spirit stones were already considered scarce resources in the mortal realm, yet here in the Spirit Realm, even a ragtag group like this could produce so many, which was truly astonishing.

Xu Hei suppressed his curiosity and refrained from asking, lest he reveal that he had never been to the Spirit Realm before.

”Xu Hei, the spirit stones born in the Spirit Realm are all of this quality. You’ve come to the right place! Only here can you aspire to the Dao,” Hei Huang transmitted his voice.

”Focus on recovering your cultivation first. Right now, you’re just a walking dog meat hotpot,” Xu Hei replied.

”Woof! You’re the damn snake meat hotpot!” Hei Huang cursed.

Truth be told, with their injuries, they couldn’t transform into human form and could only maintain their original forms. Xu Hei’s transformation technique was still at the ninth level of the Ever-changing Fish and Dragon.

Before long, the black storm from afar rushed in, covering the sky and ground, stretching endlessly.

Xu Hei seriously doubted that if this swarm of sandworms pounced on him, he would be carried away alive.

Fortunately, the preparations made by everyone proved effective. The swarm was covered by the crimson insect-repelling powder a hundred meters away, and each sandworm turned red, spreading rapidly, causing the dyed swarm to retreat.

Some that weren’t affected charged into the formation. The formation vibrated continuously, sending out shockwaves that pulverized the swarm into dust, with only a few managing to break through the formation’s defenses and reach the group.

”Attack!”

Yun Ling waved his fan, sending out several sharp beams that precisely struck the sandworms, slicing them apart.

The other cultivators also took out their rune treasures, casting Fireball Technique, Fire Snake Technique, and Lightning Strike Technique—primitive spells that they unleashed en masse to crush the sandworms.

Of course, the basic spells in the Spirit Realm were more powerful than those in the mortal realm, due to the higher quality of Spiritual Qi.

Gu Qianqian took out a spiritual herb, chewed it, and moments later, spewed out a large cloud of crimson mist. Any sandworm touched by it burst into flames.

”That’s spiritual fire herb, and she’s using it like that!” Hei Huang cursed, his eyes red with envy.

”Maybe in the Spirit Realm, spiritual fire herb is as common as dirt,” Xu Hei said.

As time passed, more and more sandworms infiltrated the formation.

Everyone was engaged in battle, leaving Xu Hei unattended.

”Find a place to hide and take care of yourself,” Gu Qianqian said, taking out more herbs to scatter, driving away the sandworms.

Xu Hei retreated for a moment, finding a dead corner behind the carriage.

As a sandworm pounced on him, his neck extended three meters, and he opened his mouth wide, swallowing the sandworm whole.

It tasted like chicken, crispy and crunchy.

”Such a feast delivered to my door shouldn’t be wasted.”

Xu Hei decided to join the battle, moving his hands rapidly like dragon claws, grabbing sandworms and stuffing them into his mouth.

He couldn’t finish them all, there were just too many!

Seeing this, Hei Huang followed suit, chasing after the sandworms and biting them, one after another, his mouth full of juice.

But his recovery wasn’t as fast as Xu Hei’s, and soon he was surrounded by sandworms, biting him until he howled in pain, rolling on the ground.

As time went on, the sandworms began to fear Xu Hei, retreating and avoiding him, which greatly reduced his efficiency in capturing them.

Hei Huang, on the other hand, was covered in sandworms, at least a dozen of them, biting him until he rolled on the ground, letting out pitiful dog cries.

Xu Hei quickly rushed over, pulling all the sandworms off Hei Huang and swallowing them.

”Ah, it’s so satisfying to eat so many at once!” Xu Hei burped contentedly.

In just a short while, Xu Hei had devoured over thirty sandworms, with a continuous surge of blood and energy replenishing his depleted body.

The second meridian also showed signs of repair.

This made Xu Hei’s eyes shine brightly.

”Phew! We’re saved.”

Hei Huang breathed a sigh of relief. Although his flesh wasn’t injured, his fur had been bitten off, and the pain was real, making him miserable.

Xu Hei continued to pursue the sandworms, but these creatures reacted quickly, actively retreating, as if some message was being passed among them, instructing them to avoid Xu Hei.

This left Xu Hei a bit troubled.

His body hadn’t fully recovered, making movement difficult, let alone chasing after them.

Suddenly, Xu Hei seemed to think of something, casting a mischievous glance at Hei Huang, his eyes flickering.

”What are you planning?”

Hei Huang retreated warily, feeling a sense of foreboding.

Xu Hei smiled slightly and said, ”Old dog, your kindness will be remembered forever!”

Hearing this, Hei Huang turned and ran.

Without hesitation, Xu Hei grabbed Hei Huang and bound him with a chain.

This chain, of course, was left behind by the Green Mountain Sect.

”Xu Hei!! What are you doing? Woof!”

Hei Huang bit Xu Hei’s arm, but only left a tooth mark, causing no harm at all.
