Serpent Ancestor

Xu Hei discovered that wherever his Divine Sense reached, there wasn’t a single living creature to be seen. No fish, no shrimp in the sea, not even floating algae.

It was a complete dead sea!

”What is going on?”

Xu Hei’s eyes showed doubt. He teleported again, changing locations to investigate, but it was the same everywhere—no living creatures in sight.

Even the underwater terrain couldn’t be matched with any reference points on the map, as if he had arrived on an unfamiliar planet.

”This isn’t right! This doesn’t match the records of the Sea Star. What is this place?”

Xu Hei’s expression turned serious. Under the protection of the Night Demon Wings, he was like a shadow, flitting across the sea, searching everywhere.

It’s impossible for the sea to have no life. Algae and plankton are omnipresent—this is an iron law!

Not to mention, the Sea Star recorded as having diverse life forms—this was very abnormal.

Xu Hei thought for a moment, took out a spiritual herb from the Divine Continent Star, and tossed it into the sea, watching intently. The moment it touched the water, the herb withered rapidly, decayed, its Spiritual Qi dissipated, turning to ash. This made Xu Hei’s pupils contract.

”Touch and die, what is this place?”

”There must be something wrong here!”

In a flash, Xu Hei continued his search.

Living things die upon contact. Such a place existing on the Sea Star was something he had never heard of!

To prevent any chance of exposure, he did not touch the seawater himself, nor did he deploy an External Incarnation, but simply moved in one direction to see if this dead sea had an end.

”Shiyu, ahead is the Sea of the Reaper. After people die, their souls go there.”

On the sea, a small boat carried a graceful, stunningly beautiful woman. Her skin was fair and delicate, her figure slender like a willow, her aura ethereal, like a fairy fallen to the mortal world.

Her features and temperament were cultivated according to the preferences of the Divine Continent cultivators, making her unforgettable, a beauty capable of toppling a kingdom.

She was Yu Shiyu, the envoy of the Merman Clan, trained for diplomatic marriage.

Behind Yu Shiyu’s boat followed a blue-skinned oddity, with the scales and tail fin characteristic of the Merman Clan, gills on his face, tall and muscular, his physique like a small mountain, considered a top-tier handsome man by Sea Star standards.

His name was Gong Tianlei, the clan leader’s son, and the one who had just spoken.

”Shiyu, we can’t go any further, or the Reaper will be angered!” Gong Tianlei warned.

”Oh? Is there a place on this vast Sea Star that I can’t go?” Yu Shiyu’s delicate brows furrowed.

”Shiyu, you need to change your old views. The Reaper is one of the seven deities we worship on the Sea Star, governing life and death, not to be desecrated.” Gong Tianlei’s expression was somewhat stern.

For anyone on the Sea Star, even a Divine Transformation Stage cultivator, would not dare disrespect the deities, but Yu Shiyu was raised according to the ways of the Divine Continent Star and had never been exposed to these beliefs.

This made her thoughts different from others, extremely rebellious.

”Got it, got it.” Yu Shiyu frowned, huffing impatiently as she turned to leave.

This made Gong Tianlei breathe a sigh of relief as he hurried to follow.

He was under orders from the clan leader to keep an eye on this woman and correct her thinking. At the same time, the clan leader had given him another task—

To marry Yu Shiyu and continue the bloodline.

But Yu Shiyu had no interest in his muscular build, and despite years of contact, their relationship had made no progress. If not for considering the ancient royal blood in her, which was greatly beneficial to him, he would have given up. But precisely because of this, he persisted until now.

”Shiyu, have you ever learned about the Sea of the Reaper?” Gong Tianlei asked.

”You’ve said it countless times, it’s where we go after death, governed by the Reaper, my ears have grown calluses from hearing it.” Yu Shiyu replied impatiently.

”Then do you know what serious consequences occur if you trespass into the Sea of the Reaper?” Gong Tianlei asked.

”Once inside, you can’t come out, offending the Reaper leads to being cast into the Nether Hell, never to reincarnate.” Yu Shiyu said.

”Good, as long as you know! We Sea Star cultivators gain power from the deities, only by respecting them can we achieve immortality. Offending the gods will result in eternal punishment...”

Gong Tianlei spoke with a devout tone.

Yu Shiyu just rolled her eyes. She had heard these words countless times before, and this person never found other topics to talk about, always about respecting the gods.

Not only was he unattractive, but also boring to talk to.

She still preferred the cultivators from the Divine Continent Star, with their immortal aura and swordsmanship, far superior to this muscle-bound man.

Just as this thought crossed her mind.

Suddenly, a whistling sound came from afar, as if something was moving at high speed.

Yu Shiyu and Gong Tianlei simultaneously turned their gaze towards the direction of the Sea of the Reaper.

There seemed to be a shadow flashing by at the edge of the dead sea, teleporting back and forth, yet unable to leave that area. After a few moments, the shadow disappeared again.

Both of them widened their eyes, thinking they had seen wrong.

”Was there someone inside just now?” Yu Shiyu asked in surprise.

”Impossible! The Sea of the Reaper only contains the souls of the dead, how could there be living beings?” Gong Tianlei’s eyes were filled with shock.

Living beings in the Reaper’s domain? This contradicted his beliefs!

”Whoosh!”

Without another word, Yu Shiyu dashed straight towards the Sea of the Reaper, her speed as fast as lightning.

Gong Tianlei’s face changed dramatically: ”Stop!”

His figure vanished on the spot, and the seawater in front of Yu Shiyu suddenly rose, forming a water prison to trap her.

But Yu Shiyu’s body shattered with a ”bang,” turning into a mist of water, and when she reappeared, she had already entered the range of the Sea of the Reaper.

”No! Come back quickly!”

Gong Tianlei’s pupils contracted, and he rushed forward, but stopped at the edge, not daring to enter.

”Shiyu, come out quickly, there’s still time!” Gong Tianlei urged anxiously.

”See, I’m in, and nothing happened!” Yu Shiyu revealed a sly smile.

The two were separated by no more than a thousand feet, the color of the seawater distinctly divided, one side blue, the other black.

Gong Tianlei was extremely anxious. He raised his hand and sent a piece of fish scale flying, landing on Yu Shiyu, but gradually, Yu Shiyu’s body quickly faded and disappeared before his eyes.

”No!” Gong Tianlei cried out, the other party had vanished right under his nose.

However, the sensing of his fish scale remained.

”It’s over, it’s over, she’s gone to the Sea of the Reaper, what do I do? What should I do?” Gong Tianlei was anxious and distressed. He took out a fish scale communication talisman, but with the distance between the two stars, the message couldn’t reach the clan leader, at most, it could only inform an Ancestor guarding the clan.

…………

Inside the Sea of the Reaper.

Xu Hei moved forward, teleporting in a straight line for an entire day before stopping.

He looked at the calm sea below, his brows furrowed, suddenly realizing a problem.

He was going in circles.
