Serpent Ancestor

Upon hearing September’s words, Xu Hei’s mind raced, and from the inherited memories, he quickly found a feasible plan.

The sword spirit could enter, and with September controlling the flying sword, it might provide some stabilization.

But this would mean September would have to face the tribulation. She was merely a fourth-grade mid-tier formation spirit, equivalent to the mid-stage Elemental Infant. How could she withstand such heavenly might?

It was simply courting death!

”No, if you go in now, it’s certain death!” Xu Hei immediately refused.

His original plan was indeed to make September an artifact spirit, but that didn’t mean sending her to her death now.

”But I’ve been stuck inside the Soul-absorbing Flag day after day, unable to do anything. How is that different from being dead?”

September’s anxious voice reached him, leaving Xu Hei stunned.

September pursed her lips, pleading, ”Husband, I know there are more dangers ahead, but also more opportunities. If the flying sword succeeds, you can gain more resources and have a greater chance of surviving, right?”

”Please give me a chance. I want to help you!”At this moment, September’s voice was slightly trembling, and also somewhat humble.

Xu Hei’s mind went blank, his thoughts stalled.

He didn’t understand.

He and this formation spirit were merely passing acquaintances, with no real connection. She was only fooled by Hei Huang into thinking of him as her husband.

All Xu Hei did was pass by the Melodic Sect and save her life.

Their acquaintance was limited to that. Xu Hei didn’t understand her, and she didn’t understand him. They had barely spoken a few words to each other.

But why? Why was she willing to go to such lengths, even risking her life for a slim chance, just to help Xu Hei in the future?

Why?

Xu Hei couldn’t comprehend it. The values he had experienced in his life couldn’t explain her actions.

”Do you know what you’re saying?” Xu Hei asked again.

”I know my chances of survival are slim, but your journey has been far more perilous, hasn’t it?”

”I don’t want to fall behind. I want to catch up with you. I want to help you!”

September raised her head, her purple cat eyes filled with unwavering determination.

There was no time left for them to consider, no time to waste.

In an instant, the tenth bolt of lightning had formed, gathering in the clouds, creating a vast sea of thunder. The terrifying pressure spread, causing the space to distort slightly, the void crackling, almost forming a thunder pool.

Years ago, Huangfu Duanlong used the outer sky thunder pool to refine a quasi-fifth-grade magical treasure, the Mixed Yuan Eight Treasures Fan.

Now, Xu Hei’s flying sword, having absorbed the power of the stars, was also on the verge of stepping into the fifth grade.

”Alright!” Xu Hei nodded, ”We can try, but I won’t let you die.”

Xu Hei’s gaze was equally resolute.

He said he wouldn’t let September die, and he would make sure of it.

”Buzz!”

September’s spirit body floated out of the Soul-absorbing Flag, transforming into a phantom four-tailed cat. Xu Hei raised his hand and performed the Spirit Fusion Forging Technique, a method to awaken artifact spirits.

September, as if drawn by an invisible force, swiftly flew into the True Dragon Sword and merged with it.

The previously battered True Dragon Sword suddenly gained a hint of spiritual essence upon September’s arrival, floating up on its own, with its cracks beginning to heal.

”It’s coming!” Xu Hei said in a deep voice.

”Yes, I can do it!” September’s voice echoed.

Once the thunder pool in the sky reached a certain limit, it broke free of its constraints, transforming into a thunderbolt a hundred feet wide, pouring down from above.

Rather than lightning, it was more like a heavenly thunder dragon, traversing the void, piercing the earth, with an unstoppable destructive force, crashing towards the True Dragon Sword.

”Look, what’s that?”

”It looks like... a thunder tribulation?”

Despite the grand spectacle, only a few noticed the heavenly tribulation, casting surprised glances.

The ground continued to tremble. After the massive star crashed into the earth, it shattered into countless meteor showers, streaking across the sky, falling in all directions.

The disaster persisted.

In the face of such a calamity that threatened to destroy the largest city in the eastern wasteland, Xu Hei’s thunder tribulation was insignificant, just a drop in the ocean. After a glance, people quickly moved to avoid the meteor shower.

”Boom!!”

The lightning collided with the flying sword, and countless dense cracks appeared on the sword’s surface, like a spider web, covering the entire blade. The lightning scattered, blasting a thousand feet around Xu Hei into nothingness.

”Ugh!”

Not only was the flying sword damaged, but Xu Hei himself spewed blood, severely injured.

Compared to him, the flying sword, struck directly by the thunder tribulation, was covered in cracks, like a fragile porcelain vase, seemingly ready to shatter with a light tap.

The extent of the damage was shocking to Xu Hei.

This was the tenth bolt of lightning!

Ten bolts of lightning, crossing the threshold of a fifth-grade magical treasure, its power was indeed terrifying!

Despite the cracks covering it, the flying sword was held together by some mysterious force, maintaining its complete sword form, not breaking apart.

Xu Hei knew it was September giving her all.

Inside the flying sword, September’s phantom was already dim and lifeless, the thunder tribulation relentlessly bombarding her form, reducing her size by ninety percent, leaving only a small head.

”I can’t fall, I must keep the flying sword stable!”

September gritted her teeth, persisting, even as her remaining head grew more ethereal under the tribulation’s baptism.

Her divine sense was fading, her consciousness growing increasingly blurred.

She was merely a fourth-grade mid-tier formation spirit. Many things couldn’t be determined by willpower alone. No matter how strong the will, in the face of absolute power, it was futile.

In the end, September was defeated.

In a daze, she recalled her life, the scenes flashing before her eyes like a slideshow.

September was just a cat demon from the mountains, born without knowing her parents’ whereabouts.

In the year she reached the Core Formation stage, she was captured by the Melodic Sect and raised as the sect’s spirit beast.

Unfortunately, her aptitude was limited, and when she attempted to break through to the Elemental Infant stage, she failed, perishing and dissipating. Yet, her soul was preserved by the sect’s secret arts, becoming the spirit of the sect’s protective formation.

At the same time, she lost her previous memories.

It wasn’t until the brink of death that she remembered she was a cat demon from the mountains, not born as a formation spirit.

”So, I was born free.” A smile appeared on September’s lips.

”Sigh.” Xu Hei sighed. He knew if he didn’t act, September would surely die.

He immediately reached out, grabbing the True Dragon Sword, his hand transforming into a dragon claw, shouting, ”Heavenly Demon Technique, First Form: Heavenly Demon Disintegration!”

”Crack!!”

Xu Hei’s body shattered, turning into countless pieces, merging into the True Dragon Sword.

He was merging with the True Dragon Sword!

During this process, the power of the thunder tribulation also transferred from the flying sword into Xu Hei’s body. This was an extremely risky move, one not even recorded in the inherited memories, as no one had ever attempted to refine themselves into a flying sword.

Without the experience of predecessors, Xu Hei was purely exploring on his own.

It was a gamble! He was forging a unique path of artifact refining.

At this moment, September, whose consciousness was about to dissipate, suddenly felt a warm current entering her body, reviving her fading divine sense.

The feeling was like basking in sunlight, very warm.

”Husband, you... came in?” September exclaimed in surprise.
