Scripture of Days Past

The lightning in the sky gradually subsided, and heavy rain began to pour down. The droplets evaporated into plumes of white steam the moment they struck Yi Siman’s scorching body.

As the first drop of rain landed on his face, Yi Siman was suddenly struck by an epiphany.

All this time, I’ve been pursuing nothing but greater power and explosiveness in my saber techniques, but that has led me down the wrong path.

Meanwhile, Chu Qiguang called out telepathically to Qiao Zhi, Why have you stopped? He’s just been disarmed. This the perfect opportunity to defeat him!

I can’t, Qiao Zhi replied helplessly. Your body barely has any strength left.

Chu Qiguang took a moment to examine his internal condition, and only then did he realize just how sore and exhausted his body had become.

Those few exchanges had drained almost all of his strength. It was only thanks to Qiao Zhi’s incredible technique that he had been able to force Yi Siman back and gain a slight upper hand.

How much longer can you last? Chu Qiguang asked.

If I continue going all out, I can probably manage only one more attack. However, if you want me to hold him off, I should be able to withstand around ten more attacks from him, Qiao Zhi replied.

Alright, that should be enough, Chu Qiguang said. Here’s the plan...

While Chu Qiguang was conversing with Qiao Zhi, Yi Siman had already become completely immersed in his enlightened state.

He could feel the qi and blood within his body becoming calmer, and it was no longer as violent and destructive as before. He was now able to wield his power in a more restrained and refined manner, further enhancing his physical prowess without harming himself in the process.

At the moment, he resembled the tranquil surface of a river, concealing the powerful undercurrents raging beneath the surface.

This was a moment of breakthrough for Yi Siman. He felt certain that if he could retrieve his saber in his current state, he would fare much better against Master Omniscient.

Unfortunately, he had already been forced to abandon it, and the saber was currently serving as a footrest for Master Omniscient.

I’ve never seen such fearsome fist techniques before! Where did he come from? Since when was there a fist technique master of his caliber in Spirit Province?

The more he reflected on the techniques Master Omniscient had displayed, the more he realized just how unfathomable his opponent truly was.

Up to this point in the battle, he felt like his opponent hadn’t been troubled in the slightest, and that he still had much more to give.

”I see you’ve made a breakthrough,” Chu Qiguang remarked.

”Did you intentionally give me time to make my breakthrough?” Yi Siman asked, his eyes narrowed slightly.

At that moment, the two of them stood nearly twenty meters apart. Plumes of white steam rose from both of their bodies as the rain continued to fall.

The cold rain posed no problem for Yi Siman, but Chu Qiguang was already severely exhausted. As the rain drew more and more heat from his body, he could feel himself growing even weaker.

With his condition continuing to deteriorate, Chu Qiguang knew that he had to end the battle quickly.

”It’s been a very long time since I encountered an opponent capable of putting up any meaningful resistance against me,” he said, smiling beneath his copper mask. ”I presume you must be one of the brightest young talents of your generation among the wolf fiends of the northern grasslands.”

As he spoke, Chu Qiguang slowly began to approach Yi Siman through the rain.

”I allowed you to swing your saber at me three times,” he continued. ”Now that you don’t even have your weapon, it’s about time I put an end to this.”

A powerful sense of danger instantly welled up in Yi Siman’s heart, and he instinctively sprang backward. However, Chu Qiguang seemed to have anticipated his retreat and launched himself forward, refusing to let him escape.

At the same time, he clenched his outstretched hand into a fist. Layer upon layer of gale force erupted from it, sweeping toward Yi Siman in compounding waves. Before Yi Siman could put up any defenses, a sudden wave of weakness washed over him, temporarily robbing him of the ability to move.

Chu Qiguang had activated his Ring of Ignorance, and the sudden debilitation sent Yi Siman into a blind panic. He felt as if his opponent had reached directly into his mind and begun stirring his consciousness. A demonic whisper even seemed to ring beside his ears.

Yi Siman let loose a terrified scream as he stared blankly at Chu Qiguang’s approaching fist. The layers of gale force surging toward him had already torn his upper garments to shreds.

Right at that moment, a rumbling thunderclap rang out, jolting Yi Siman back to his senses for a brief moment. With barely any time to react, all he could do was raise his hands to shield himself against Chu Qiguang’s fist.

As Yi Siman hurriedly held up his hands like a makeshift barricade, a tremendous burst of force erupted from Chu Qiguang’s fist and swept through his entire body. It felt as if he were about to fall apart at the seams.

”You’re lucky, I’ll give you that. Now get out of my sight!” Chu Qiguang harrumphed coldly.

Before Yi Siman could react, a kick struck him in the lower abdomen. A dull thump rang out as he was sent flying through the air, tumbling for over ten meters before finally crashing to a stop.

By the time he climbed back to his feet, his entire body was covered in mud and rain, leaving him in an extremely disheveled state.

However, he was very relieved to discover that he hadn’t sustained any major injuries. He was even more relieved to see that Master Omniscient had no intention of pursuing him.

Deep fear and apprehension filled his eyes as he stared at Chu Qiguang. He continued to reflect on that final punch, his heart still gripped by lingering fear.

How was he able to affect me on a mental level with his fist techniques? Could he have already reached the Dao Comprehension state? If he had thrown another punch just now, I would already be dead.

With that in mind, Yi Siman bowed gratefully and said, ”Thank you for sparing me, Senior.”

That’s it, I’ve got nothing left, Qiao Zhi said with a sigh. This rain really came at the worst possible time.

What was that kick just now? Chu Qiguang asked. It didn’t seem to do anything.

That kick is called the Infertility Kick, Qiao Zhi replied with a sly chuckle. It’s a really nasty technique with delayed effects. He won’t feel anything right now, but in a few months, he’ll discover that he can’t get it up anymore. After that, he won’t be able to fool around with women.

Chu Qiguang nodded and suppressed all the IELTS, TOEFL, and Hokkien knowledge he had been preparing to release through his Ring of Ignorance.

It’s a good thing middle-school level physics was enough to get the job done. If I had been forced to release the other knowledge I prepared, it would have taken me quite some time to relearn everything.
