Script of Reincarnation

Cold.

That was the first sensation Lu Yang felt.

Not warmth or the soft embrace of a mother, but an intense cold that seemed to seep directly into his bones.

Then came a heavy rain, pouring down from the dark sky and drenching his entire body.

Lu Yang’s consciousness slowly returned.

For a moment, he was confused.

Where was he?

Shouldn’t he be in a bedchamber right now?

Or did the reincarnation fail?

His thoughts were still extremely hazy, and his body seemed incredibly weak.

He tried to move, but nothing happened.

Only then did Lu Yang realize that he should be a newborn right now.

His body was far too small, he couldn’t even control it properly.

A strange sensation of helplessness emerged within his heart. Even after experiencing it twice before, he still wasn’t quite used to this feeling.

Just then, several voices seemed to be carried over to him by the wind, distant and frantic shouts.

”Quick!”

”Protect the young master!”

”There’s too many of them!”

”Run!”

Sounds of weapons colliding echoed through the rain.

*Clang!*

*Bang!*

A muffled scream followed soon afterward.

Lu Yang’s hazy, newborn consciousness instantly became alert.

What was happening?

Was he being attacked immediately after reincarnation?

His eyelids slowly twitched opened.

The world before him was blurry as rain fell from the heavens, striking his face.

He could vaguely see several figures running through the darkness.

There were people fighting, blood and corpses scattered about, while a man was shouting something in panic.

Lu Yang tried to turn his head, but his neck was too weak. It took an enormous amount of effort just to do so.

At that moment, he saw a person, a woman who was lying beside him.

She was motionless, her clothes were soaked in blood and rain, and her eyes were closed.

Lu Yang stared at her for a moment, his consciousness freezing for a brief moment.

This woman...

Was she his mother?

His thoughts became blank.

Just got reincarnated, and my mom died?

”...”

Lu Yang was completely dumbfounded.

Was this what eighty points of Luck looked like?

How come his starting point was much better in his past life with just ten points of Luck?

Was this some kind of joke?

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps rapidly approached from nearby, a young woman appearing through the rain.

Her expression was pale, and she seemed to be around twenty years of age. Her clothes were torn, and blood covered one side of her body.

When she saw the infant lying beside the dead woman, her eyes widened.

”Young master!”

She hurriedly rushed over and picked Lu Yang up.

The moment he was lifted into the woman’s arms, Lu Yang instinctively felt a faint sense of warmth.

The young woman’s body was trembling.

”Madam...”

Her voice was hoarse as she looked at the woman lying in the rain, her lips trembling as a few tears slid down her cheeks, but the sound of the fighting in the distance seemed to shake her awake.

The young woman clenched his teeth.

”Young master... we have to leave.”

She turned around and ran.

Lu Yang was carried away through the rain.

He could not move, and neither could he speak, barely keeping his eyes open, yet his consciousness remained extremely clear unlike an ordinary newborn’s, perhaps because he was a Spirit Awakening cultivator in his past life, or perhaps because his Talent and Comprehension were truly extraordinary this time.

His fourth life had now begun, but this beginning was rather unfortunate.

Lu Yang silently sighed within his heart.

Forget it, at least he was alive.

As long as he was alive, there would always be a chance.

With just fifteen points into Talent and fifteen into Comprehension last time, he could achieve so much.

Now that he had a hundred into Talent and eighty into Comprehension...

This should be a Qi Sea Realm potential at the very least, right?

...

Five years passed by in the blink of an eye.

On this day, it was still raining.

Inside a large courtyard, a five year old child sat beside a window.

His appearance was delicate and his small face exquisite, but his dark eyes were unusually clear.

He quietly looked outside as the rain fell continuously, striking the roof tiles, the stone paths, and the leaves of the trees.

The entire courtyard seemed extremely peaceful, with no trace of the chaos from five years ago.

The child rested his chin on his small hands.

On the table before him was an old storybook, or to be more accurate, an historical book in the format of a storybook.

The cover was simple, and there were only a few large characters written upon it.

’The Sun That Never Sets.’

There was no name at the bottom of it, indicating that the original author was anonymous.

The child stared at the book, his eyes somewhat complicated.

He had already read it several times.

The story was about an old cultivator from a distant place, a man who had risen from an ordinary cultivation clan.

He had experienced countless hardships, his parents died, his wife died, his daughter died, and in the end, he fought an entire army alone.

The final battle in the book was described in considerable detail.

The old cultivator had used a forbidden secret technique, burning his cultivation, foundation, lifespan, and everything else he possessed to transform his entire body into a gigantic sword.

Even when he died, he still brought the enemy down with him.

The story ended there.

The sound of footsteps suddenly came from behind, prompting the child to turn his head.

A dignified young man walked into the courtyard.

He looked to be in his twenties and possessed a scholarly air, with an ink and pine scent lingering around the edges of his sleeves.

His clothes were neat and simple, and there was faint stubble on his chin, giving him a somewhat mature appearance.

His cultivation was not particularly high, only around the middle stages of Body Tempering Realm, yet within this courtyard, he was clearly an important figure.

The man walked over, reaching out to rub the child’s head before his gaze fell upon the book.

His eyebrows rose slightly.

”You liked it?”

The child looked at him, not answering immediately.

Instead, he tilted his head slightly.

”Father, was what the Supreme Elder of the Lu Family did at the end... correct?”

The man’s hand stopped.

For a moment, he did not answer, just looking at the child as he turned his gaze towards the book.

Finally, he slowly sat down opposite him, his voice calm as he began speaking.

”Sometimes... things aren’t simply divided into right and wrong.”

The child remained silent as the man continued.

”If you look at it from the perspective of the laws of the Great Qian Dynasty, the cultivation world is something the dynasty generally doesn’t interfere with. Once a person steps into the cultivation world, they must be prepared to kill others and be killed themselves. That’s simply the way the cultivation world works.”

The child listened carefully.

”But...” The man paused before speaking.

”The aftermath of that final battle concering the Lu Family spread far beyond the cultivation world. Many ordinary people and mortals were affected, a large part of the Canglan Prefecture City was destroyed, and many civilians died. This is just the immediate aftermath of the battle, not even concerning the aftereffects brought into the secular world following the collapse of the Azure Spirit Sect. Even Marquis Shu was killed, which would have been considered a provocation to the Imperial Court and His Majesty’s heavenly might had Marquis Shu not voluntarily chosen to interfere in the affairs of the cultivation world himself. That is where the controversy comes from.”

The child lowered his gaze.

”So some people think he was wrong, and others think he was right?”

”Yes.”

The man nodded calmly.

”Different perspectives produce different conclusions. For some people, what he did was excessively cruel, but for others, it was completely justified.”

The man looked at the book again before continuing, a faint smile on his face.

”That’s why scholars of the current age recommend that people read this book. Think and judge it from the perspective of someone living through those events, then judge it again with hindsight. You may arrive at completely different conclusions.”

The child fell silent.

The man had spoken quite a lot, his throat seeming somewhat dry as he reached for the teacup on the table and took a sip.

In reality, there was no need for him to do so. His cultivation had already reached the middle stages of the Body Tempering Realm, and his physical body was far stronger than that of an ordinary person.

Just speaking for a while wouldn’t be enough to make him thirsty, but drinking water was simply a habit.

After putting down the cup, he looked at his son.

The child was still staring at the book. After a long silence, he suddenly asked.

”Then... what does father think?”

The man paused, a faint smile appearing on his face.

He reached out and rubbed the child’s head again.

”That’s why I named you after him.”

The child’s eyes widened slightly.

The man stood up, leaving behind a single sentence as his footsteps gradually disappeared into the courtyard.

”I hope you can grow up and make your own judgments.”

The child remained seated by the window, watching his father’s departing back.

For a long time, he did not move.

After a while, his gaze slowly fell upon the book again.

His fingers gently touched the cover.

The writing had clearly been revised, and the wording was much more polished than ordinary historical records.

The descriptions were also extremely detailed, especially the final battle and several other aspects which shouldn’t be known to someone who wasn’t close to the person himself.

The child’s eyes were calm without any ripples as a familiar writing style emerged in his mind.

Fang Chen.

The name silently appeared within his consciousness.

It had been fifty-five years since his death.

Yet, this man had apparently spent the final third of his life recording what had happened.

And because he was one of the few people who truly knew Lu Yang, he was able to write things that others couldn’t.

Of course, the original manuscript had clearly been revised over time.

The Imperial Court had removed sensitive information, as things related to the reason behind Lu Qingxue’s death and several other things weren’t clearly stated, and later generations had probably polished the language as well.

But beneath all those changes, Lu Yang could still recognize it.

This was Fang Chen, his sworn brother’s, writing.

Lu Yang lowered his eyes.

The Script of Reincarnation was right.

His life had truly become a legend, and not just a legend of the cultivation world, but something that entered history, entered the lives of ordinary people who had never even heard his voice or seen his face.

Perhaps somewhere, a scholar was debating whether he had been right, and perhaps somewhere else, another person was cursing him for his ruthlessness.

Perhaps someone regarded him as a hero who valued familial ties and loyalty, and perhaps someone else regarded him as a hypocritical murderer.

That was history.

Once a person died, their intentions could no longer speak for themselves.

What remained were only the records, consequences, and interpretations of later generations.

Lu Yang slowly closed the book as he looked out the window.

The rain continued falling, gentle and quiet, unlike the rain on the day he died and the day he was reincarnated.

He remembered that day.

His mother had died, and he was carried away by a panicked young woman.

His fourth life had begun amidst blood and rain, and now, five years later, he was sitting in the Imperial Capital of Great Qian, reading a book about himself.

A faint smile slowly appeared on Lu Yang’s small face as he gazed outside.

The Imperial Capital stretched endlessly into the distance. Magnificent buildings stood beneath the gray sky and cultivators moved through the streets as ordinary people walked beneath umbrellas.

The world moved on, and everything he had once known had become the past.

Lu Yang quietly watched the rain.

His third life had already become history, and he was beginning his fourth.

The child lowered his head, his eyes falling upon the book one final time.

’The Sun That Never Sets.’

He gently smiled and picked it up, walking over and tucking it inside the completed section of his books.
