Rising from Small Cloud Rain Technique

Chapter 764: Chapter 599: True Demon Assault_2

A cultivator’s voice sounded particularly distorted, as he was already scared out of his wits.

Enemy’s blade rose and fell, taking down a teammate, whose blood and flesh divine soul was instantly devoured by the demon soldier.

He witnessed a teammate being split in two up close, the body swiftly withered like a dehydrated sweet potato, finally shattering into inch-long fragments, truly leaving no bones behind.

Moyun Daoist Master activated a top-grade Bing Fire Divine Thunder Talisman, temporarily forcing the true demon back.

The true demon laughed, “Now this is interesting, your attack felt like a scratch, give it more effort, I can still take it!”

He clenched the remaining talismans in his hand, shouting:

“Quickly leave, retreat to the east.”

Although he had been fleeing all the while, he kept an eye on the squad’s position. If he also got lost, the team would really face total annihilation.

His sense of direction told him the fortress was already more than ten miles away ahead.

Moyun Daoist Master felt a burning pain all over his body, as if his internal organs were being bitten by thousands of insects and ants. However, he gritted his teeth lightly, trying not to show it.

He rode Yunfei ahead to lead the way for everyone. Whenever he saw the enemy catching up, he would activate a Bing Fire Divine Thunder Talisman.

The true demon pursued leisurely behind them, a mocking glint flashing through his eyes.

A few cultivators of the Human Race felt tormented, exerting all their might to escape, yet the enemy always quickly closed the distance.

Moyun Daoist Master abruptly shouted, “Speed up, the fortress is just ahead!”

Within the demon fog, his vision extended farther than the others’, vaguely seeing the light ahead.

This feeling was so familiar, it was the light of hope.

Several Chao Origin Stage disciples were lifted in spirits, flying for a while longer before seeing the faint glow ahead, and unanimously poured their dwindling magical power into their spiritual artifacts.

As long as they return to the fortress, they would be safe, for who would rather die if they could live?

Moyun Daoist Master slightly slowed down, falling behind, he still held a top-grade Bing Fire Divine Thunder Talisman. If the true demon was too aggressive in pursuit, he wouldn’t hesitate to use it.

The battle that followed the encounter with the true demon presented a one-sided situation, his attacks lacked significant power against the true demon, the flying sword occasionally hit the target, but only pierced a few inches into the enemy’s skin.

He understood that if the enemy wanted to annihilate them entirely, it wouldn’t be too difficult.

The motives beneath his actions to escape with his team weren’t entirely noble, the sacrifice of team members bought them time for fleeing.

Now with hope right before their eyes, he decided to act as the final shield for others. At this moment, his thoughts were noble.

With just his own strength, the power of the top-grade talisman should suffice to deter the true demon from pursuing further.

Of course, it would be best if the talisman didn’t have to be used.

The true demon flew into this illuminated area, his eyes, pulsing with bright crimson light, suddenly widened, exposing his blood-red maw and sharp, white teeth.

The light made him feel slightly uncomfortable, so he raised his hand and forcefully threw the bone blade he held.

Moyun Daoist Master’s pupils suddenly contracted, he had been watching the true demon’s movements all along, but only saw the gesture of raising its hand.

His vision blurred as he felt a red light flash past, then he heard a piercing noise.

Almost simultaneously with the sound of the air being sliced, two screams were heard.

The two sounds overlapped, but were immediately drowned out by the violent impact noise.

He shifted his body slightly to ensure he could see the true demon’s actions while quickly glancing around.

Not far from the city wall, two teammates’ bodies were skewered like candied hawthorns by the bone blade.

The bone blade was lodged in the wall and was still trembling slightly.

Moyun Daoist Master’s soul was scared out of his wits, the enemy had been holding back all along, it wasn’t his illusion.

At this moment, he could no longer afford to be stingy, immediately infusing magical power into the talismans.

After activating the talisman, he didn’t look at the result, but controlled his magical treasure to flee towards the fortress as fast as possible, using an irregular trajectory.

He didn’t dare expose his back to the true demon, keeping track of the enemy’s actions even as he escaped.

Scarlet thunderbolts appeared above the true demon, yet only to have countless black vapors burst forth from his body, instantly forming something akin to armor.

The thunderbolts descended, and the true demon took them head-on, letting out a painful howl.

Moyun Daoist Master heard the howl, his heart racing, chest feeling tight, a storm roiling within his sea of consciousness, yet he still flew into the fortress, gritting his teeth.

Once his entire body entered the fortress, the anti-air array took effect, pulling him toward the ground.

He didn’t resist, allowing the force to act upon him, and then landed smoothly.

The tension suddenly released, yet he let out a painful scream. Now devoid of threats to his life, the physical pain magnified infinitely.

Moreover, the purification array started taking effect on him, every breath felt like swallowing lava, his throat burning painfully.

Outside the fortress, thunderbolt dissipated, and the armor formed by the demonic qi on the true demon’s body vanished, leaving a gash over two feet long on its shoulder, still flickering with scarlet lightning.

It raised its hand, made a grasping gesture, and the bone blade embedded in the wall flew back, the unfortunate two cultivators already shattered.

A sinister grin passed over its face as its figure vanished back into the gray mist.

…

The violent impact sound startled Yunyan Daoist Master awake, immediately realizing the fortress was under attack.

Sitting cross-legged on the Pudun, she leaped up, opened the window of the pavilion, and jumped out, feeling somewhat stifled, one flaw of the anti-air array.

Running in the direction of the noise, she witnessed Moyun Daoist Master landing, quickened her pace, and rushed over, noting the anomalies on his body.

Moyun Daoist Master noticed her arrival too, a trace of smile flitted across his face, though due to the agony, the smile seemed particularly strange.

Yunyan Daoist Master rushed to his side, concernedly asking:

“Are your injuries severe? What happened?”

She glanced around, expression turning stern, said in a low voice:

“Where are your team members? Only those two remain?”

The two Chao Origin Stage cultivators that had narrowly escaped now stood behind Moyun Daoist Master, extending hands to support him.

Faced with a barrage of questions, Moyun Daoist Master’s face grew more bitter, pointing to the back with a trembling voice, he replied:

“Encountered a very strong true demon, I feel it’s at the Late-stage Golden Core level, only three of us made it back alive.

Don’t mind me, quickly go out and see if you can catch up with the enemy. Be careful, it’s very strong.”

In those years spent with the team members, watching them fall one by one in front of him, left his heart in turmoil.

Unable to take revenge himself, but finding someone capable to exact revenge was possible.

Yunyan Daoist Master nodded slightly, “You’ve been tainted by the demonic qi, hurry and take a Vajra Pill.”

With that, like a gust of wind, she ascended the wall, summoned her magical treasure, a chain akin to a heated iron rod.

Jumping out, freed from the constraints of the anti-air array, she immediately initiated flying escape.

The magical treasure transformed into a fire snake, hovering mid-air, emitting an eerie hiss before plunging into the demon fog.

This was a Tier Three upper grade magical treasure, adept at entangling attacks, was her offensive magical treasure.

A treasure bead glittering with yellow spirit light appeared above Yunyan Daoist Master’s head, emitting a protective treasure light.

This was her lifebound magical treasure, the Mountain Bead, capable of transforming into a towering mountain to suppress enemies, also capable of emitting earth element spirit light for self-protection.

Upon becoming a Golden Core Cultivator, most of the wealth she acquired was invested into these two magical treasures, which also established her formidable reputation.

Following behind the fire snake, she merged into the demon fog, the gray mist rolling and churning as if concealing many invisible monsters.

Wan Jinru and Wan Jinrong, having also heard the array’s commotion, rushed out one after the other to investigate.

They found Moyun Daoist Master and learned the general situation.

Seeing Wan Jinru eager to give chase, Moyun Daoist Master urgently advised against it:

“Absolutely not, that true demon definitely possesses Late-stage Golden Core strength, I feel surviving was partly due to the enemy’s choice.”
