Rising from Small Cloud Rain Technique

Chapter 10: Chapter 8: Mastery of the Small Cloud Rain Technique

Ji An suddenly thought of a question and asked:

“Senior Brother, since the early-stage Qi Refining cannot withstand the frenzied spiritual qi during the day, doesn’t that mean Junior Brother Liu Yu also can’t cultivate during this period?”

“Little An, our cultivation is merely about circulating the cultivation technique to absorb the spiritual qi that floats between heaven and earth.

With the family background that Junior Brother Liu has shown, Spiritual Food cannot be guaranteed, but there should be enough pills.

After consuming pills and Spiritual Food and then circulating the cultivation technique, it’s the spiritual qi contained in the pill and food that’s prioritized for refinement.

Even if we absorb a small amount of floating spiritual qi, since it’s too little, it won’t pose any trouble for us.”

Ji An nodded slightly, understanding that discussing toxicity without considering the dose is just playing rogue.

“I know these things, but isn’t it said that all pills have some Pill Poison, more or less?

Even if it’s a Yellow Bud Pill made from Yellow Sprout Rice as the main material, you must wait two to three days to consume another.”

“Has Junior Brother ever heard of the Spirit Capturing Array?”

Ji An clasped his hands as a salute: “Please teach me, Senior Brother.”

Old Huang enjoyed the pleasure of being a mentor. He nodded slightly with a “hmm” and continued to say:

“We can directly draw magical power from Spirit Crystals and Spirit Stones, but the spiritual power contained in Crystal Stones is too violent. Unless in an emergency, we don’t use Crystal Stones to replenish magical power.

A Spirit Capturing Array can extract the spiritual qi contained in Crystal Stones, making it as peaceful and harmonious as the natural spiritual energy.

Although it will cause some loss, compared to the ability to quickly improve cultivation, a little loss isn’t worth mentioning.”

“Tsk tsk,” Old Huang smacked his lips, “Even the most ordinary array disc for a Spirit Capturing Array requires twenty Spirit Stones, and along with the consumption of starting the magic array and Spirit Stones, cultivators who can use the Spirit Capturing Array are all extravagant people.”

Ji An, thinking of his own possession of only five Spirit Crystals and recalling his father, who at the Eighth-Layer Qi Refining had saved only twenty-seven Spirit Stones in his life, sighed and said:

“Fate for most people is decided at birth.”

Reincarnation is a skill. Those who have good reincarnation naturally have a very high lower limit in life.

Ordinary people toil all their lives, and the upper limit of their lives may not even reach others’ lower limits.

“Isn’t it just so!”

Old Huang’s mouth spewed saliva:

“Those born with open Ancestral Acupoints and revealed Immortal Veins, once accepted by a sect, need do nothing. Pills, Spiritual Food, and Spirit Capturing Array are all arranged for them.

Plus with cultivating the most suitable cultivation technique for themselves, without practicing any magic techniques, they can step into Foundation Establishment Stage fast within months or slowly within half a year.

How can one rapidly improve the realm during the Qi Refining Stage? Ultimately, it is just absorbing spiritual qi, refining magical power to push forward.

Even a pig could become a Pig Demon at the Foundation Establishment Stage with such treatment!”

This is the xiānxiá version interpretation of “even pigs will fly if they are standing in the right wind!”

Ji An grinned:

“Senior Brother speaks so insightfully.”

“For my life now, it’s settled. My two sons couldn’t enter a sect and only became loose cultivators, eventually dying from hunting demon beasts.

Now I pin all my hopes on my grandson, striving in my remaining years to earn him a higher starting point.

If Flying Tiger can advance to Foundation Establishment, my life will have been worth it.”

Old Huang’s slightly cloudy eyes first dimmed, then glistened with light.

He further pointed out some planting knowledge before quickly leaving.

During the days of planting without sprouting in the Spirit Grain, besides absorbing natural spiritual energy to refine magical power, he spent the rest of his time working with Spirit Crystal.

If it weren’t for needing magical power to cast a magic technique, he wished he could forgo cultivation time as well.

Every early morning before dawn at 5:00 AM, he arrived by Jade Water Lake to refine Water Element Essence, leaving after 7:00 AM.

At that time, Fire Element Spiritual Energy became active, causing Water Element Essence to sink to the bottom of the lake, making it hard to gain anything.

At 7:05 AM, he’d leave the sect to refine Wood Element Essence or condense Wood Element Bead in the nearby wilderness.

If lucky enough to find a Spirit Medicine or Spiritual Material, it would be a windfall.

Although not much could be harvested, it was safe. He was just an ordinary Spirit Farmer, knowing few offensive magic techniques, but he did practice a Wind Control Technique for escape to minor achievement.

…

Ji An returned to his Spirit Field, honestly pulling weeds.

Because the weeds needed to be uprooted, he cast the Small Cloud Rain Technique to moisten the soil before starting his work.

As a new disciple becoming a Spirit Farmer, the spirit grain seeds distributed by the sect only sufficed for planting two acres, the only free grain seeds received.

Old Huang suggested that he plant only half an acre each time this year. First, because his realm was low; second, because his magic technique was unrefined, in short, hard to reap a good harvest.

Following his advice, he decided to cultivate only half an acre of Spirit Field.

With the Stone Turtle, his magic level would undoubtedly rise quickly, but without sufficient magical power to support it, it would be in vain.

When the Spirit Grain matures for a season, he would decide how many more acres of Spirit Field to cultivate based on the actual situation.

Half an acre is three hundred square meters, which doesn’t sound large, but it took him most of the day to clear the Spirit Field.

After clearing the weeds, he returned directly to his bamboo building, placed the Jade Slip on his forehead, and reviewed the contents of the Thick Earth Technique.

With better production methods available, there’s certainly no need to wield shovels and hoes again.

As an entry-level spell, the Thick Earth Technique’s difficulty is also not high, similar to the Small Cloud Rain Technique.

Ji An spent only half an hour this time memorizing the essential points of the magic technique.

He began practicing the Dharma Seal, perhaps because of some similarities between different spells’ Dharma Seals, mastering the Dharma Seal took less time than his earlier practice with the Small Cloud Rain Technique.

With the remaining magical power in his body insufficient to cast the Thick Earth Technique, he did not continue practicing the Dharma Seal and left the bamboo building to solve his hunger issues.

At this time, smoke rose curling up, and Spirit Farmers, busy for one day, returned home under the sunset. The time was as exquisite as an unfolding ink painting.

A bowl of brown rice was steamed, with half a bowl of wild vegetables as dinner.

In the leisure time while steaming rice, he browsed through the sect rules listed in the Jade Slip.

The moon hung on the treetops, while fireflies flickered among the grass, and crickets played their tunes, accompanying the tranquil night.

Ji An took out his Pudun and lit an insect-repellent incense in the courtyard before sitting cross-legged, operating the Qingyuan Scripture.

Threads of natural spiritual energy were inhaled into his body, circulating within the Immortal Vein in a specific manner, eventually transforming into magic power trickling into the Qi Sea Acupoint.

As expected, still half of the magical power was swallowed by the Stone Turtle.

Feeling the efficiency of refining spiritual power starting to decrease, Ji An stopped his cultivation.

He felt sharp-eared, clear-eyed, and refreshed, with the fatigue of labor washed away.

With magical power in his body, he carefully recalled the essentials of the Thick Earth Technique, then summoned his magical power to change the Dharma Seal and began casting.

The earth-yellow Spirit Light was very conspicuous under the night sky, enveloping a dozen square meters of land beneath his feet.

Without examining the specific effects of the spell, Ji An immediately triggered the Stone Turtle with his mind.
