Return of the Celestial King

The secretary respectfully led Qin Tuo into the chairman’s office.

The moment Zeng Fuchai saw Qin Tuo walk in, he immediately stood up and came over to greet him with a beaming smile.

He eagerly extended both hands to shake Qin Tuo’s.

”Oh, Mr. Qin! You’re every bit the distinguished young talent people say you are!”

Zeng Fuchai’s excessive enthusiasm made the nearby secretary’s lip twitch.

The secretary then quietly left the office, closing the door on the way out.

Zeng Fuchai enthusiastically invited Qin Tuo to sit in his own executive chair. He then personally brewed some high-grade tea and carefully placed it before him.

”Chairman Zeng, you’re too kind.”

Qin Tuo said with a smile.

Zeng Fuchai shook his head and chuckled.

”Mr. Qin, it’s my pleasure. Your visit brings great honor to our company!”

Qin Tuo sipped the excellent tea as he listened, feeling a little puzzled.

’Why is Zeng Fuchai being so over-the-top?’

’Even if Long Wu gave him orders, he shouldn’t have to act this subserviently.’

Zeng Fuchai began to reminisce.

”Mr. Qin, you may not remember me, but I had the honor of witnessing your incredible style at the banquet hosted by Elder Mr. Ouyang!”

That explained it. Qin Tuo now understood that Zeng Fuchai had also been at Ouyang Tianqi’s banquet. No wonder he was being so friendly.

Zeng Fuchai continued with a look of utter admiration.

”Mr. Qin, I saw it with my own eyes at the banquet. You put Hong Qing, the leader of the Cyan Fire Gang, in his place in just a few moves! Such incredible prowess is simply unrivaled in this day and age!”

After such blatant flattery, Qin Tuo felt it would be rude to maintain a distant air.

He said humbly,

”Chairman Zeng, you give me too much credit. I’m just a humble employee here. Once I finish my task, I’ll be on my way.”

Zeng Fuchai nodded repeatedly upon hearing this.

”Of course, Mr. Qin. Don’t you worry, I’ve already got everything ready!”

He immediately called the secretary back in and handed a pre-drafted contract to Qin Tuo for his review.

”Mr. Qin, please, take your time. If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, just let me know.”

Qin Tuo was quite satisfied with how accommodating Zeng Fuchai was being.

He didn’t even glance at it, simply saying,

”Chairman Zeng, is there any reason I wouldn’t trust you? Since we’re both pressed for time, let’s just sign it now!”

Zeng Fuchai was secretly impressed by Qin Tuo’s decisiveness.

”What are you standing there for? Get a pen for Mr. Qin to sign!”

Zeng Fuchai ordered hastily.

The secretary nodded quickly and produced a pen.

However, just as Qin Tuo was about to sign, the door was suddenly thrown open, and Zhao Peng and his group barged in, their faces dark!

Zeng Fuchai froze for a moment when he saw Zhao Peng.

’What’s Zhao Peng doing here?’

Zeng Fuchai was puzzled.

”Young Master Zhao, can I help you with something?”

he asked cautiously.

He had to take this seriously. After all, the Zhao Family was Qingmei Company’s largest shareholder.

Normally, the Zhao Family was a force that Zeng Fuchai couldn’t afford to provoke.

That was why, upon seeing Zhao Peng, even a chairman like Zeng Fuchai had to address him as ”Young Master Zhao” and greet him first.

Zhao Peng glanced at the contract and sneered.

”Chairman Zeng, you can’t sign that contract. The Zhao Family won’t allow it!”

His tone was absolute.

Zeng Fuchai finally understood. Zhao Peng must have some sort of beef with Qin Tuo.

But Zeng Fuchai had already made up his mind. He had to see this through for Qin Tuo today.

So, he adopted a diplomatic tone and said slowly,

”Young Master Zhao, I have given the matter of our partnership with Mani Company careful consideration. This is the right choice, so please don’t worry.”

Meanwhile, Qin Tuo remained in the chairman’s chair, looking completely unconcerned and at ease.

Seeing Qin Tuo’s casual demeanor, Zhao Peng’s temper flared!

He jabbed a finger in Zeng Fuchai’s face and began to curse.

”Who the hell do you think you are? When I say no, it means no! Keep spouting nonsense and see if I don’t get my father over here to talk to you himself!”

Zhao Peng knew perfectly well that Qingmei Company wouldn’t have survived this long without the backing of the Zhao Family.

Furthermore, Zeng Fuchai was always extremely respectful toward Zhao Tiancheng. By dropping his father’s name, Zhao Peng was trying to strong-arm the chairman into obedience.

Zhao Peng didn’t think Zeng Fuchai would dare to defy him any further. He never expected that he had just pushed the chairman too far.

”Hah! And who the hell do you think you are, Zhao Peng? I am the chairman here, at the very least! How dare you come into my office and boss me around? Your family may own shares in this company, but that doesn’t give you the right to run around creating a scene!”

His words were thick with a resentment that was clearly the result of long-suppressed frustration finally boiling over.

Even Qin Tuo couldn’t help but glance at Zeng Fuchai with a hint of surprise.

He could tell that the chairman must have put up with a lot of crap over the years, and now he had finally erupted.

Seeing Zeng Fuchai lose his temper, everyone else was startled and grew anxious.

Zhao Peng’s expression froze, taken aback by Zeng Fuchai’s outburst.

He never would have thought that Zeng Fuchai had such a backbone!

’What gives him the nerve?’

’Isn’t he afraid the Zhao Family will pull its investment?’

At that thought, Zhao Peng’s confidence returned, and he threatened with a twisted expression,

”Zeng Fuchai, you old bastard! Believe it or not, I can make Qingmei Company collapse right now, and then you’ll be the one crawling out of here!”

He had already decided. As soon as he got back, he would have his father, Zhao Tiancheng, pull some strings and get the board to kick Zeng Fuchai out.

Since all pretenses were off, Zeng Fuchai just sneered.

”Fine, Zhao Peng. I’d love to see what tricks you have up your sleeve to bring this company down!”

Seeing how intense things had become, Liu Qiang quickly stepped forward to mediate.

”Chairman, the company’s growth is already unstable. If we lose the support of the Zhao Family’s shares, we’ll go downhill immediately!”

Zeng Fuchai’s eyes narrowed, a terrifyingly cold light glinting within them.

But Liu Qiang, completely unable to read the room, thought he had hit a nerve and continued,

”I just think this partnership with Mani Company isn’t that important. We should listen to Young Master Zhao and hold off on signing the contract. What do you say?”

He had barely finished speaking when Zeng Fuchai suddenly backhanded him across the face.

SLAP!

The slap left a clear red handprint on Liu Qiang’s cheek.

Zeng Fuchai said coldly,

”And who the hell are you? Is it your place to speak here?”

This time, Liu Qiang didn’t dare make another peep. He completely wilted.
