Reincarnated as a Lizard

As she rushed through the thick foliage, Scaly didn’t dare to stop for even a second as she continued escaping without knowing what direction she was moving. Only wanting to find a way to mask her scent and shake of the gnoll chieftain that should be able to track her down now that she was no longer on the battlefield filled with corpses and other things to mask her scent...

Roar!

Bang!

And as if to make things worse, she soon heard the loud roar of the enraged gnoll chieftain echo out behind her followed by the sound of a tree being toppled over. Confirming that the gnoll chieftain had left the somewhat open space around his tribe to chase after her into the forest.

Although the forest rabbit lord didn’t make any sounds like the gnoll chieftain, Scaly understood that for the gnoll chieftain to leave his tribe alone, the forest rabbit lord should have also followed him in chasing after her. Meaning that the alliance between the two terrifying monsters was still holding up after leaving the battlefield of the two monster races.

I need to find a way to hide my scent and escape from them before they catch up!

Knowing that her situation was getting worse with each passing second, as the two monsters chasing after her were both stronger and faster than her, Scaly began looking all around herself for anything that could help mask her scent.

Hm? The trees are thinning out!?

During this search for anything that could help mask her scent, Scaly suddenly realized that the distance between the trees around her was growing wider, while the foliage hiding her body grew thinner, a clear sign that she was about to reach the edge of the forest.

But... What part of the forest am I in at the moment? Given the distance I traveled to reach the battlefield between the gnolls and forest rabbits, it could be a brand-new part of the island, while it could also be the mountains terrain I first encountered when leaving the swamp. Meaning... I might start to encounter humans!

Thinking this to herself, Scaly prepared herself for the worst-case scenario of ending up at a beach with nowhere to escape after leaving the forest. Not daring to turn around and try to stay inside the forest, as it would give the two monsters chasing after her a way to catch up even faster.

No matter what, she could only pray that she would end up somewhere filled with mud or something else that she could use to mask her scent. In a way, part of her even hoped that she would end up in the swamp that she had found herself in when she first reached the island by sneaking on board one of the weird wooden things the humans used to move between the islands without having to come into contact with the water.

Rustle~!

It was like this that Scaly emerged from the forest and found herself emerging in a rather familiar place-

[Rocky Mountain Lion, lvl 24]

There was even a large cat ready to greet her after she emerged from the forest, with a large smile plastered all over its cute fluffy face.

Roar~!

Although, on second thought, the smile looked more like it was licking its lips at the delicious snack that had suddenly jumped out in front of it...

No time for this!

Swish-!

Not even giving the rocky mountain lion any time to react, Scaly rushed past it without a second thought. Not planning to stay around and fight it while the gnoll chieftain and forest rabbit lord caught up to her.

ROOOOAR-!

Seeing this, the rocky mountain lion froze for a few seconds before letting out a rage filled roar before it turned around to chase after Scaly-

BANG!

CRACK-!

However, before it had a chance to do this, the gnoll chieftain came jumping out of the forest. Landing directly on top of the rocky mountain lion that had been about to chase after Scaly, killing it in an instant.

Squeak-!

At the same time, following after the gnoll chieftain, the forest rabbit lord similarly emerged from the forest in a domineering fashion.

Ah!? Both of them already caught up!?

Seeing the two emerging just behind her, Scaly could not help panicking as she realized that the two monsters, she had been trying her best to escape from had already managed to catch up to her and were only a short distance away from her.

Even if she found a way to mask her scent at this point in time, it wouldn’t make any difference as the two monsters she was trying to hide from were already directly behind her. Not to mention, she didn’t really have anywhere to hide in the mountainous terrain. Even more so considering that the swamp that she had been planning to rush towards after recognizing where she was, was quite a distance away from her.

Something else... I never to find another way to shake those two off my tail... But- Ah! Humans!

Lost in her own thoughts trying to figure out a solution to her current predicament, Scaly suddenly remembered the human settlement that she had seen after leaving the swamp.

If she could escape to the human settlement where she had seen countless powerful humans residing, she should be able to have them deal with the monsters chasing after her, while she could make use of the chaos that their appearance caused to sneakily slip away before she also ended up being targeted by the humans.

Yes! That’s a perfect plan! I will guide both of them to the human nest and then have the humans deal with them while I slip away! Hehe~ I’m a genius!

Proudly smiling to herself as she thought this to herself, Scaly quickly scanned the rather empty mountainous terrain and soon found the human settlement that she was looking for-

Swish-!

And without wasting a single second, she rushed directly towards it!
